My H's coworker's GF will be 40 weeks tomorrow and apparently has a c-section scheduled for tomorrow. Because this is their situation, H keeps thinking of our EDD as the absolute latest we'll have to wait. No matter how many times I've told him we won't be scheduling an induction or C-section unless medically necessary. He keeps saying "it'll be our turn on 10/20!" Like it's written in stone. It's driving me crazy. He also doesn't know the whole story. He's claiming they scheduled a c-section just because they don't want to wait any longer so he's suggested that to me as well, like, if I'm done being pregnant at 37 weeks, we can just roll up to the hospital and request to deliver. Why is this so hard to get?!
Ugggh!  I'm sorry your DH doesn't quite get it.  That must be super frustrating.  My due date actually is a hard stop because they won't let me go past it, and while I am a little glad I won't be sitting around in November wondering when this baby is going to come, mainly I am not thrilled about the prospect of being induced, and I am super not thrilled about the prospect of a c-section after a failed induction.  Inductions and c-sections aren't something to be taken lightly, nor are they something you can just request whenever you feel like it.  But I don't think everyone understands that.

  • So... much... catching up...

    Love its all around!
  • Ack! Too much to catch up on!

@annabenanna That's so cute! What a great way to get the girls excited for baby!

@mizzkbrat That sounds just like the bets DH and I make. Love it.  ;)

@MRSCORKER Whaaaat? I don't understand why people think that you should just schedule a c section. Get that idea out of his head ASAP! Lol. Remind him that it's major surgery and that your recovery time would be way longer. My DH wants me back to work as soon as possible, he'd be so stressed if I ended up having an emergency c section.

It rained all day yesterday so DH had the day off today (he does landscaping). And it was so dreary, there were no walk-ins at the salon, so I was able to leave a couple hours early. So we actually got to spend a whole day together! And we somehow ended up at my parents house so they invited us to stay for dinner. It's been awhile since we were all together, so I had a great day. But now I have so much to catch up on! Lol

  • @krzyriver It's not that he wants me to have one, it's that he thinks it's common practice to induce/schedule a c-section on your due date if you haven't had the baby yet.

  • @MRSCORKER That was supposed to be a general "you". Lol. Like people *do* think it's common practice these days. I hear women say all the time they scheduled theirs because they wanted one, no medical reason. Or that they plan to because they're not dealing with labor. It's really weird and I don't understand why people nowadays think that's how you should do it. I would never volunteer for that unless I had to, I don't care if I have to wait right up to or past my due date! Lol

  • People talking about babies dropping: this babe is so low right now that sometimes I literally cannot bend at the waist because I feel their head at the bend-point. Also, it puts an insane amount of pressure on my crotch/rectum and it is suuuuuuper uncomfortable. I keep having to go on all fours, forehead to the ground to try and get babe to shift back upwards (breathing be damned) so I'm not so uncomfortable. It's awful!

@TurtleMomma me too!  I don't think this baby could get any lower.

I am up in the middle of the night unreasonably angry at my H.  Our DS almost always sleeps great now, but was crying for me tonight, so I went in and rocked him.  I ended up spending like an hour and a half trying to get him back to sleep and rocking him.  Well at about 3 am H comes in and snaps/-"just put him back in his crib, you're making it worse."  That made me so beyond angry.  Would it be so difficult to say:  "How are you guys doing, would you like some help?"  I'm sure it doesn't help that I've been having such terrible upper back pain that I slept in the recliner last night and tonight.

God give me the grace to not lose my damn mind.

    edited bc I confused abbreviations.
  • I would possibly stab my H if he acted that way.
  • I had a similar experience a few nights ago. FI is lucky it was like 2:30 in the morning and I was too exhausted to be confrontational.
  • Has anyone ever done a spray tan while pregnant? Like the Mystic Tan type... Not one where an actual person sprays you. Wondering if there's any weirdness in the look because of the belly. I really only need face, chest, arms, and knees down to look okay but still curious about the belly area. Thinking about getting one for my shower.
  • @bnsmith85 I haven't done a spray tan, but I found these "Tan Towels" at Ulta that are awesome!!  They're $10 - $15 and come 4 - 5 in a pack, wrapped up like a moist towelettes.  I only needed one to do my arms, legs, neck and a little on my face. I did it twice before my mini-shower a couple weeks ago, once the night before and then the morning of and I definitely had a nice tan - and no streaking! Definitely the best "fake" tan product I've ever used...  Probably not as good as a spray tan, but worked really well!
  • I have never had one and have no advice to offer, but I wonder what my pasty, bleach blonde self would look like with a spray tan... how strange it would be to walk in there looking like a corpse then walk out looking like Malibu Barbie!
That's my random thought of the morning...
Ummm... It's wonderful. You look at yourself in the mirror and think, damn I look good. Plus, I stand by the thought that tan fat looks skinnier than white fat. So there's that lol
in case you hadn't noticed, I'm also super pale. I was worried I'd be orange the first time, but nope! I looked amazing.
  • @bnsmith85 That has been my fear, looking orange... I may just have to try one out now! I typically pride myself on my porcelain complexion, but I want to try something new. I would LOVE to look in the mirror and feel the way you described!
  • Random - gifts arriving off Target registry don't come with gift giver information. This is going to be a nightmare...I'm now hoping everyone gifts us items at the actual showers or from Amazon/BRU.

  • @F47 ::hugs:: I'm sorry! You guys just aren't having a good week at all =( Maybe you can convince DS to come cuddle up with you and you two can take a nap together? Or at least pop in a nice, long movie? It's a win/win, rest for you, lovin's for DS!
I hope you two start feeling better soon, I remember how down I felt when FI was in the oil field and gone every other week. Only 5 more days though! Keep that chin up <3

I recently had a gift shipped to someone's house off their Target registry and I was pissed that it didn't give me the option to include a note. I was hoping it at least showed my email address on the shipment, but sent a follow up card in the mail just in case. They seriously need to fix that issue.

@AllyTheKid a movie is definitely in order for this afternoon. DS doesn't nap (because...my luck), but he's super into Cars right now. So, we'll pop that in and I can (hopefully) doze off.

But, I will lament that 2-hour, uninterrupted nap I'd been looking so forward to since last week.

That's so crappy. I agreed with the suggestion of a movie/cuddle time!

@morganl925 and @copperboom86 now I'm wondering how many Target registry gifts I've shipped to people and wondered why they were so rude for not sending me a thank you card.  :D

I'm in the waiting room of the doctors and chatting with some random lady. I made some throw away comment about how I have a couple things from my goddaughter like a high chair. Apparently my son will be scared for life because I'm putting him in a pink high chair, that's the impression I'm getting from her reaction. :|

You have a way with words I could never hope to emulate, so I'm just gonna say AMEN SISTER! I'm so used to glowing like Casper the ghost in pictures that I don't think I'd recognize myself in any shade of brown. Besides, I also think I'd be orange. I am still waiting for a person of color (by which I mean is not translucent) to confirm on the no orange thing.

  • @F47 ugh! Hope your DS is really good for you when you get home at least!
  • @gatorMom2014 and @AllyTheKid I'd smack my husband if he did that.  We have an unspoken agreement.  Since I was up with our son every time he woke up for the first 18 months (he nursed to sleep for waaaay too long), my husband gets up with him if he wakes up in the middle of the night now.  It doesn't happen very often (once every few months), but I'm grateful for him when it does.

@f47 I'm so sorry your week is going so terribly.  I hope it gets better soon.  Could you take a half-day tomorrow yo have some time for yourself?  Or leave an hour early?  And yay for peeing on the potty!

    BTDT moms: about video monitors:

Do we really need one? Our house is approximately 1,900 sqft and only one level. The only thing between the baby's room and ours is a foyer, so I'll be able to get to her pretty quickly. Could we get away with just an audio monitor? Or is there something I'm not considering?

    Edited for clarity.

  • @F47, hugs to you!  I hope you get to chill this afternoon with DS and you guys can just watch a movie and nap. Sorry. :(  It's almost over!

  • CopperBoom86 we live in a condo, so I asked my SIL (mom of 3) the same question. She brought up the point about when baby is napping or sleeping in the nursery, but you're downstairs (if you have two floors) and he/she starts to stir, and you want to check if they're actually up or just messing around without having to go upstairs. Laziness always prevails for me, so I got a video monitor.
  • @CopperBoom86 I had a video monitor with DD even though her room was right next to mine and I could hear every hiccup or sniffle, and I decided I hated it. It just distracted me, I'd sit there and stare at her on the screen instead of go to sleep. But, I was an overzealous FTM then. I look back and LOL heartily at how uptight I was with her. On the flip side, there is the benefit of being able to SEE her which can add some extra peace of mind. So really, just use whatever makes you feel most comfortable.
