@BelcherEars thanks so much! Once you're further along the Doppler really isn't that hard to use. Youll find that you can easily detect your own HB/blood flow noises then once you find lo's HB is obvious. And exciting!
I'm hoping that it was just tough bc lo is still so small. We used one with DS. My favorite part was watching the hubs want to try to find the HB. Hope yall enjoy it's use once you get used to it!
2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? Making it to 12 weeks
3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I had my first ultrasound this morning, which went great. The little one had a strong heart beat and even moved its tiny arms. I'm now 2 weeks past the stage when everything stopped progressing last time, so although I'm still not out of the woods, I feel like I can start to get a little excited now.
4. GTKY: What is your favorite movie of all time? Almost Famous
@vino831 Thanks! I tried it last night two different times. I only heard my arteries and my heart beat the first time. The second time, I think I found the HB. It sounded like a heart beat (not swooshing) and was faster than the 120ish rate I was picking up around my arteries. It was at a weird angle, so I couldn't get it to register loud enough for the doppler to give me a HB reading. Anyways, I'll probably try again this evening at that same spot to see if I can find it again and try to get it to register on the monitor. Hopefully baby hasn't moved around. Were you given any instructions on maximum time to use the doppler? I've been keeping my use around 15 minutes each session. Not really sure if there is a time limit you should stay under -the information that came my doppler didn't say.

2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? My next appointment which is in two weeks.
3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: So this next appt I will be the same weeks/days as when we found out about our loss last time and it will be exactly six months after. I'm not really superstitious but that kind of bothers me. However if the baby is doing well then maybe I will be able to really start getting excited.
4. GTKY: What is your favorite movie of all time? BBC's Pride and Prejudice
@BelcherEars I am so jealous you're going to Disney in December! We went for our honeymoon last year and made the rookie mistake of not booking far enough in advance so we couldn't dine at Be Our Guest. I'm dying to know how the Grey Stuff is. Have a blast! Disney is always magical but I can't even begin to image how it'll be lit up with Christmas decorations.
Also thank you for your incredibly thoughtful response back. I was having a tough PGAL day and it's so nice to feel like I'm not alone in my thoughts and worries.
1. How far along are you? 9 weeks, but today's Ultrasound measured 8+1, had 12 days of growth over the last 14 days and heart rate is 170 so doctor is positive and finally gave me the guide to pregnancy packet and lab blood draw slips on this visit. Baby steps...
2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? Next scan 9/7 and meeting with the genetic counselor. I'm doing it the earliest date possible with my due date bc I leave for Italy 2 days after the scan. PGAL brain is trying to figure out if I can get a D&C in time and still go on my trip.
3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Today I had an ultrasound trainee giving the ultrasound. She didn't tell me she saw a baby or heart beat for 2 minutes and couldn't find the yolk sac without help. My ultrasound pics weren't very clear. This doesn't help put my mind at ease one bit. she said the baby was high up in my uterus and harder to see because it's grown so much over the last 2 weeks.
4. GTKY: What is your favorite movie of all time? Clueless.
@BelcherEars YEAH!!! So awesome you found it!! Aw I bet that was exciting! :-)
So I can't remember exactly what the paperwork said when I bought mine with DS but I remember feeling that I'd choose to only use it about 10-15 min 1-2 times a week. The device didn't make specific recommendations but generalizations...mostly the focus was not to push too hard.
There's a lot of differing opinions about their use but I did find this which seems legit
@vino831 Thanks! Yeah I think the first time I tried the doppler, I was pushing a little too hard because I was a little sore afterwards. Realized that was probably not a good thing and backed off the second time lol. Also, I appreciate the link! Checking it out now.

I have my first appointment with high risk doctor tomorrow. Depending on how things go I'm debating buying a Doppler just to put my mind at ease for the next few weeks.
Got my Doppler today (Sonoline and definitely found a HB registering in the 160's. I'm 9+3 today and thrilled! I was initially going to wait until 10 weeks, but let's be honest, I'm BSC. We are going to try to keep usage to once per week or if I have concerning symptoms. Now that I know where baby is, it'll be easier to find on subsequent listens. I would highly recommend it based on my own success, but bearing in mind that some HB's can't be heard until later for a variety of reasons.
Its supposed to say Sonoline B up there, but turned it into a sunglasses emoji instead!
2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? MFM appt Tuesday which includes my NT scan. I'm HOPING that I might be able to relax and trust that this pregnancy will stick after that?
3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: My mom asked me when we will be announcing, and I just don't know. I told her maybe after I see the baby again Tuesday. I just still sorta feel like I want to wait until 14 or 15 weeks for some reason. A family friend announced on fb this week and she is also due in March. I'm just having so much trouble letting my guard down with this!
4. GTKY: What is your favorite movie of all time? Field of Dreams. I just love it.
@MahiMama same here. I think I'm waiting until 14 wks but I know someone due in March a little after me who announced last week. I thought it was early.
@dubcompanion Sorry to hear about your fall!! It would make me worry too. I’m glad your doctor was so supportive of the
check and all went well.
@liepertsm I’m glad you really like your doctor. That is so
important. I love my old OB, but he is
so far. I’m calling to schedule at a new
practice and I hope I like them as much.
@Danibanani16 getting past the loss week is so hard. Stay strong like you have been!! All the bad news of late is really
stressful, but as we all know too well, it is unfortunately the reality of TTC. Hang in there. The Princess Bride is on my short list of
favs too. Never gets old.
@sarahbobby I hope all went well with the high risk doctor yesterday.
@vino831 due date anniversaries are one of the hardest things to
endure. The one from my hardest loss was
July 9th. I tried to keep
busy & do something special for myself but also take time to grieve. I hope the day went OK for you.
@shae86 So happy you had a good
US this week. There is definitely some
relief once we get past the loss milestone.
I am allowing myself a sliver of excitement too. Stil very afraid of getting crushed though.
@ElleB11 I am trying not to be superstitious too, but it’s really
hard. I feel like I have to do at least
a few things differently this time or I might jinx it.
@BaylieGirl yay for growth and moving forward! I know people have to learn, but doing that
to a loss Mom is extra bad. I’m sorry.
@MahiMama Good luck with your NT scan next week!! I think I am still going to be afraid to tell
people at the end of first tri.
1. How far along are you? 8+2
2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? I have another RE check next Friday & I
think that MIGHT be graduation day!
Other than that I am looking forward to NIPT & probably NT. I’m assuming they will still do both.
3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: This week’s check yesterday showed good
growth and nugget WIGGLED! The tech took
the time to show us it’s tiny arms and legs.
It was awesome. Of course it only made me feel more attached. If something goes wrong I am going to be
gutted. I’m still feeling overall REALLY
good. No MS. I under ate yesterday and realize that if I get
overly hungry I just start to get achy and feel like I am getting the flu or
something. It’s not stomach sick at all though, than goodness.

Hi @mrsbinPA! So great to hear that you had a wonderful appointment!
I had my first appointment with the high-risk doctor yesterday. She was so reassuring and recognized my fears! She did a quick ultrasound before we left so I could have reassurance that everything is going well. I got to see the little nugget and he/she was moving around like crazy! So great to see! We also got to hear the heartbeat.
I decided to let the high risk group handle the entire pregnancy. I go back in two weeks! What a relief. I will be so happy when I get out of this 1st trimester!
@MrsBinPA@sarahbobby That's awesome you both got to see your LOs wiggle! I hope to see some actual movement at the NT scan. I'm sure our baby is moving around but at the time, I'm so preoccupied with the heartbeat and the measurement. I think if the OB would point it out, that's when I'll think to look for movement.
(Of course, now my PGaL brain is thinking, "Oh no! What if my LO is not moving around?!")
