@Kaessi If I wouldn't have installed the Babyname App on both our phones and told him "WE ARE USING THIS", we'd probably still be in the same boat. You go through a list of names, can like or dislike them, and then there is a match list of only names you both agree on, so you don't even have to bother bringing up a name that you don't both already like.
I'm just so impressed with so many of you having names picked already. For our first we were between two going to the hospital. For this one, we still have a list of 20+ first name ideas that we like - thank goodness we still have 11 weeks left!
We've had a boy and a girl name picked out for probably five years. Now, if baby #2 is another boy in a couple of years, we are screwed! Lol
Had a rando at school asking about le behbeh. She asked what his name was going to be, then proceeded to ask me if I was sure about naming him Johnny because it "sounded a bit childish- no offense"... yeah, I'm sure about Johnny, and fuck you. If he wants to go by John he can.
Edit because holy redundancy batman... I am rapidly losing my ability to word.
@AllyTheKid after getting negative reactions to names we had for DS we stopped telling people. It's harder to poo-poo a name after its on the birth certificate. We've been very closed mouth about the short list for this LO which drives our family crazy, a plus in my book
@nlane0723 love your names! I have ordered monogrammed hats as part of their coming home outfits, but I ordered 3 so we can go in with a "swing" name lol. Commitment issues.
Married 11-11-11 TTC only since Dec 2015. I had some weight to get off. Been working hard in the gym for over a year. BFP 02-15-16 with our first IT'S A BOY!!!
Ok, I had posted about this a while ago and was adamantly against it, but after many conversations, we finally decided...baby boy will be Ashton Martin. Yep, I know the car reference will be brought up frequently, but I loooove the name Ashton and Martin is very sentimental to both sides of our family. DH had to butter me up real good and after running it by a few family members (my mom, sister and a few aunts/uncles at a wedding this past weekend), who all oohed and ahhed and loved it as well, we decided to say screw it and are going for it. I mean, there are worse things that his name could sound similar to than a $300,000 car, right? Anyways, I am relieved to finally have an "identity" for this little boy!
@LizaKate1213 - I think it's going to be so rare for someone to say first and middle together it'll only be something people think about when he's first born Much more important that you two love it!
@LizaKate1213 I have an Ashton. He was born in '03 so I always heard "oh, after Ashton Kutcher?" Uh, no. Lol I love it too and I love that he's never been one of a handful of Ashtons in his class.
@amye0102485 Are you doing a formal Charlie? We are doing Charles Cole but I want him to be called Charlie (and really only Charlie) so I am debating just doing Charlie as his formal name.
We decided to name our little one Zhuri. I just fell in love with the name and kept nagging SO until he finally agreed. I win!! Lol
In case you wanna feel like a name expert. Every where says "zuri means beautiful in Swahili" but that's only partly true. "Zuri" is not a real word. If a person is beautiful/good/pleasant you would use "Mzuri", multiple people "wazuri" and if a thing is its "nzuri" or plural is "vizuri"
There are actually a whole bunch of other ways to add prefixes as well but I'll leave it at that...
Thanks for that info @kmolleltz ! I believe i did read somewhere that Zuri means Beauty or Beautiful. Good to know the real meaning behind it, would hate to walk around telling people the wrong information and having them look at me like I'm crazy or making things up lmao. Either way, we are now loving the name and it goes perfect with SO last name.
We're going with Isabelle Rose, haven't told any of our family and friends that, we wanted an element of surprise and I love that my mum an sis think they've guessed already... Nope wrong again!
This is as close as we're getting to naming our baby until he comes out I think. We've got it narrowed to 4 names, won't decide for sure until we see him. But we're getting closer! DD's name starts with M, so I'm not too sure on the M names... Everett Stone Miles Theodore Landon Gray Maxwell Jude
