I didn't expect this to occur, this being #2 and all... but I am still having those freakout moments of "why did we do this?! We can't handle more complication in our lives!!! TOO MUCH RESPONSIBILITY!!!!" I know we want this. I know we are lucky that we are able to build our family in the way we aimed to... but... I'm tired. And brain dead. And my job requires many brain cells and my toddler requires endless energy.
We have it good. We have it very very good. I know this. Buuuuttt... also... what the heck are we doing?!!?!?! baaaaaaaah! Mayday! But... one day at a time... there's no emergency here... things are going great. I'm lucky to have this life.
I probably spend as much time at work trying to look busy as I do actually working. There's tons of work to do...but I'm lazy and brain dead and tired. Therefore I stare at a screen with nothing important on it for 20 minutes just to zone out...while looking like I'm reviewing important crap.
I nursed a small, icy glass of wine last night after putting DD to bed. H has been working 545am-9pm lately working side jobs and DD Has recently discovered the art of fleeing. I barely caught her in time before she lunged into oncoming cars in the parking lot yesterday. I just don't have the energy.
Also, a friend needed to reschedule a play date today but I had made chocolate chip muffins for said play date... Anyway, 2 muffins down, 10 more to go!
@sourlemon meeeee toooooo. I have these reports that I have to do monthly. Usually I have them done the first week of the month, still haven't done them!
Thanks Ladies!!! I wasn't meaning to poor me, I just want to be somewhere that my LO is being taken care of, as I feel perfectly normal. ETA: So I don't know when I'm overdoing it.

@Christinaruth74 wow I am jealous of the wine LOL. I was at the OB yesterday and she said do you have any questions? And I wanted to be like can I have 1/2 glass of wine? Because DH says I can (I sound like a child haha) if the Dr. said it was. I was too embarrassed!! I have a lot of shame about drinking from my mom who is in AA and believes that everyone is an un-diagnosed alcoholic.

I'll join in on that work/non-work party. I'm on here most of the day because I really don't wanna work. It's going to suck when I go on my trip in a few weeks and will be working out of the main office.
I'm telling my boss I need to leave on time today. We had a pointless meeting yesterday about production and he suggested we start early and work late if we have to. IF. So I will not be available today after 4:30 pm, unless there's things I still have to do before end of week. But nothing else on my plate, I gotta run errands

I also spoend a good chunk of my work day on this site. I like to work a little bit, slack a little bit... and on and on. And heck, I am still one of the most productive people on my team so something is working!
However, in 2 weeks, I start a new position and am unsure of the slack time I'll get. I probably won't have much at first since I'll be training, but hopefully I'll figure it out to balance it all out at some point. I need my slack/distraction time!

@slartybartfast girl, you aren't alone. I oscillate between 'I'm super mom, I got this! Two more babies ain't shit!' And 'what in the literal hell did I get myself into?'
I know how to manage my life right now and I'm quite good at balancing it all. I'm super nervous for all of that to change. Whatever comes will eventually become the new normal but I do find myself wondering if I made a mistake flipping this life as I know it upside down.
FWIW - Every single STM+ I know has copped to these feelings. For a while I felt bad for thinking them and my girls calmed me down by making it clear they all felt the same when adding more babies to the family.
Lately I spend most of my work day on the internet doing non-related work things. Then I'll get a sudden burst of energy and motivation to get things done. After it only takes 2 hours to complete all of those things I go back to wasting time.
I ate a lot of veggies for supper last night which were filling enough to not snack at all. I woke up stupid hungry at midnight and decided I just couldn't wait 6 more hours for food - I basically sleptwalked/sleepwalked (Seriously, which is it?!) into the kitchen, made myself a toasted blueberry bagel with peanut butter & jelly and then went back to bed.
@leksiL haha last night it felt so justified. It was a super small glass and half ice.. And it's been so hot that it was half water by the time I finished it hours later (I really nursed it) but it was so good.
Today I have eaten like shit and I feel great about it. I generally eat very well, but today I was like, "OK I'll have a Pepsi, a Snickers ice cream bar, some Bugles, and lawd willing some pizza!"
Tomorrow I will go back to my healthy ways, but for today? Pffffttt! GET IN MAI BELLEH
Oh another fffc - on another thread we were discussing pregnancy related dental issues and I posted about consuming prenatal gummies... I realize that sounds like I was talking about vitamins but I am actually just eating bears and worms. Oops.
@slartybartfast hahaha ok I totally thought you were talking about the vitamins! But...I support gummy worms and bears! I eat them so rarely but I love them! Now I want them.
I'm jumping on the whole not really working train. I was supposed to work until noon before catching a flight. Instead I left at 9 to get breakfast before going to the airport. Fridays of a work travel week can be great!
I also had eggs Benedict with sausage patties instead of ham they were incredible.
ETA: I don't get people who bring pillows and blankets on planes. Planes are filthy - I wouldn't want my pillow in one! (I'm sitting on a plane waiting to take off - hence the observation)
@karmba I usually bring my pillow on planes with me Never really considered the it's gross/dirty part. Just the I really need to sleep on this 6 hour red eye flight and I can't do that without my special pillow part. It also comes to hotels. And will come to the hospital. No shame.
@dmontgo I feel you! Today I can't seem to stop shoveling food in my mouth, none of which are very healthy. I have a sour punch straw hanging out of my mouth as I type..

YESSSS this was me today too! I generally don't eat refined carbs, but today I had a boston creme donut, sweetened lemonade (idk what kind of sweetener), AND DH said we can split the other donut we got when he gets back from the gym.

I bought a travel neck pillow with a zip off removable case just for this reason! And I'm so paranoid about the germs and stuff that I wash it when I get home, and then again before I'm about to go on another trip lol
I made an elaborate vegan dish for dinner and it was flavorless and disgusting. My husband is currently on a run to buy me some tater tots, which was what I actually wanted for dinner. I tried to behave, was not rewarded with a delicious meal, so now I'm eating what I wanted.
@caseyewhitaker I made some tasty vegan spring rolls yesterday! Only took 15 minutes to make them, which surprised me because I guess I always assumed they were complicated to make.
I have leftovers in the fridge, but pizza's on its way, sooo....
Tater tots are technically vegetables anyway, so it counts.
@dmontgo Yum! That's actually a good idea for lunches next week, might steal that. I've been eating vegetable potstickers a couple of times this week and they've been delicious. This had the potential to be good, but something crucial was missing from the recipe. It was an Indian style dish and so I wouldn't have any idea what to add.
Dr. McDougall says to eat as many potatoes as you want...I know he doesn't mean greasy tater tots, but I'm gonna bake 'em so you know "health."
@Christinaruth74 I bought a great bottle of 2007 Malbec for my FIL on his 60th birthday last weekend. We both love red wine (who am I kidding ALL wine) and he insisted I have a taste. A "taste" turned into a solid three finger pour and I nursed it for an hour. It was heaven!
@slartybartfast right??!!!! I feel like I'm just getting the hang of keeping one child alive! I definitely have moments where I'm like, "wtf were we thinking!" Then I just remind myself that there's no getting off this roller coaster, so I guess I'll just try to enjoy the ride even if I'm scared shitless half of the time:)
I've been eating all my favorite fruits and veggies this pregnancy. Jelly beans, gummy orange slices, chocolate (which is made from the cacao bean), tater tots, French fries.
No but in all seriousness, I do love that stuff in moderation.
@caseyewhitaker I really liked this recipe because it's super easy to customize! I've been getting into vegan recipes for dinner lately, and it can be hard to find some that aren't tasteless or easy to customize. The only change I would make to the spring rolls recipe (depending on how hardcore vegan you are) is I would use fish sauce to dip them in instead of soy sauce, but that's just a personal preference. Enjoy!
@tinattt23 Eh when people put their pillows on tray tables to sleep it grosses me out, those things never get cleaned. I get it if you need it to sleep, just please wash the pillowcase ASAP lol
I had like 1/3 of DH's beer after a really rough day yesterday. It was heavenly, but I realized how little it took to feel an effect after not drinking for so long.

I'm a huge fan of Chloe Coscarelli's recipes. They take some time, but are definitely flavorful. Even the hubby approves
I give SO much credit to you mamas of little ones that are expecting another and work, this is my first and I have those same overwhelming feelings pretty regularly of "how will I ever learn to manage and get it all done?!" It's just me and hubby plus two pretty needy dogs and between home projects and busy summer schedules I feel like I'll never be ready when this baby comes! I've been a mega slacker at work for probably 2 months now, and I can honestly say I just don't have it in me to care anymore! Normal me would feel guilty about it, pregnant me.. No cares!
@mforinger - it's feeling pretty impossible at the moment... I'm finding it SO HARD to give my little guy all that I want to out of myself while keeping the house in order and getting things done at work. Work's been getting the shaft but this week is going to be intense and I'm dreading it.
My DS didn't finish his breakfast this morning. So I scraped the last few bites of scrambled eggs into our dog's food bowl for a treat. As I'm cleaning the kitchen a few minutes later I look over to find my toddler happily eating his breakfast leftovers out of the dog bowl with our dog Hank sitting nearby looking very disappointed.

@slartybartfast you totally deserve a pregnancy spa island!! Give yourself a break when needed, I'm sure you're doing a great job! I work in social services so I unfortunately see a LOT of sad situations that make me realize as long as I'm letting my kids/family know I love them and give them the best I can, then I'll be doing ok!
@aframe77 so sorry I had to laugh out loud over this! There are way worse things, I think they all do something similar at some point!
