Update from me, had my ultra sound today. Measuring 4 days behind where I thought I was. Technician said I was around 6 weeks 0 days. Heartbeat was 117. Will have to wait for doctor to match up with bloodwork and will have to go for another ultrasound to confirm viability since I'm not over 7 weeks yet. Has anyone had this happen and the outcome was positive? She found a heartbeat and it was on the higher end, so I'm confused why that equates to 6 weeks and 0 days. Anyway, I'm basically super upset and waiting for this not to work out. I'll go on vacation and not drink, etc. take my vitamins and sacrifice but I'm assuming this going to end badly again and not getting my hopes up at all because I know I should be farther along than I am.
@mlygate The 6 weeks 0 days comes from the crown-to-rump measurement they take, not the HR. The HR is good for the 6th week, though! My LO's was in the 1teens during my 6th week and they are still going strong despite some scares along the way.
1. How far along are you?
8w5d
2. Next milestone you're looking forward to?
Other than NT in four weeks, I'm looking forward to the end of my spotting, which has gone on since week 5. Who knows when that will be, though?
3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Ive been avoiding posting here because of a scary bleeding scare this week. I've unfortunately equated activity on a BMB with bad outcomes, and I need to snap out of that and realize participating here will not cause me to have another loss. I'm happy to report that my LO is still fighting, has a great HR and measuring just a few days small. I'm still further than I've ever been in pregnancy, so I'm holding onto that as hope that this one will be my take-home rainbow baby.
4. GTKY: If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Such a hard question! I think I would have to go with chicken Parmesan.
Thanks @wishilivedinflorida - so it's just one measurement they base it off of? Is the heart rate for 6 weeks in that range? I just thought I was 6 weeks 4 days (at minimum because it's hard to know exact) . Does measuring change week by week, like could the baby catch up? Sometimes I wonder the accuracy of the technician too. The ones at the hospital are so exact, these small places they send you to for the early ultra sounds aren't reassuring. She kept saying the baby has a heartbeat and it's healthy for the 6 week range and wouldn't tell me anything else. I looked over her head as I got up and saw the heart rate bpm on the screen myself so she told me. Then I had to prod and prod and prod for her to tell me it measured 6 weeks. She said she's not allowed to disclose that to me. Why the fuck not? I'm the patient.
@mlygate The ultrasound technician technically isn't supposed to tell you a lot of information until the OB/radiologist reads your scan but mine told me a few things- like what the HR was and what the baby was measuring. The ultrasound report was sent to me in my electronic medical chart for me to review after it was seen by the radiologist.
The measuring should change week by week as the baby grows- that is why its best to do dating ultrasounds around 7-8 weeks because babies mostly grow around the same time at that stage and then as time goes on genetics come into play and babies will grow at different rates. I wouldn't be too concerned, my baby technically was growing 1 week behind but I am confident on my dates based on ovulation and not on LMP so hopefully next week at your scan all will continue to be well!
@mlygate Offhand, I believe anything above 100 is pretty darn good for 6 weeks. For example, this pregnancy, HR was 113ish at 6w1d, then 143 at 7 w2d, and 174 at 8w4d. I was measuring spot on until yesterday, and now I'm measuring 3 days behind. There is a standard margin of error of a few days, I believe. Plus, the further you get, the more inaccurate measurements become. In my experience, different techs may disclose certain things to you and others may not. It's a liability for them to share info and not be able to explain the meaning behind it, which is really your provider's job.
Everything @spartanrd so eloquently stated before me is right. It sounds like you have a healthy LO in there so far!
@Wishilivedinflorida Sorry to hear about the spotting. You and your LO are in my thoughts and prayers. I have the same superstitious feelings about the BMB having already had to leave 3 of them. Hugs. I'm trying to do the same and remind myself that those times have no bearing on the outcome of this time & posting about how things are going certainly isn't going to. Hugs to you.
Lots of hugs right back atcha', @MrsBinPA. RPL sucks so so bad. I'm trying to find the joy in being pregnant, and it's so hard some days. I hope so much we both get to stay and tell birth stories and complain about swollen feet and pooping while giving birth and all that good stuff!
Thanks girls!! I love posting here because I know everyone understands the struggles, the mental agonizing, the worry and the support really does help me to get through it! Thanks for being super knowledgable, I need to start asking more questions and pushing for more answers. Hopefully baby grows and is good in my next scan! I'll probably wait another 2 weeks or whenever the doctor says.

@Wishilivedinflorida Me too friend. Me too!!! That made me feel all kinds of feels & tear up.
I'm the idiot who told my RE's office I wanted them to call me with my labs either way foolishly hoping the numbers would continue to give me re-assurance. Well my HCG doubling time decreased DRAMATICALLY. I am trying desperately to hold on to the fact that the US was perfect with exactly the right growth from the week before, so even with those numbers things are still cooking.
@MrsBinPA My doubling times went down, too. Granted, I had weekly betas, so I had to calculate it out. It's normal, though, and my OB says that betas really become meaningless after a good first US.
I had a lot of anxiety this morning. Sometimes I convince myself that something is wrong even though I have no issues to speak of and everything has been great so far. It's like my mind is convinced that something bad will happen because that's all I know. It's hard explaining to people how I feel as well. I'm so glad for this group!
@mlygate Thanks for clarifying I'm so slow... I kept thinking, "I want to support her, but I don't know where she originally posted her info?" Anyway, I hope you get more definitive news at the next scan! As much as I disliked my clinic's 8-week requirement for the first OB appt., I understand now why they have it in place. That way, if the baby is measuring several days off, they can still get a decent idea of how far along the pregnancy is. And if it's more than a week behind than what the parents expected, it's still not necessarily doomsday and a followup can be scheduled the next week. Fortunately, they did let me come in around 7 weeks this time around, and LO was measuring exactly from when I suspected I'd O'ed, so whew...
Whenever I think about the stress of these first 12 weeks, I get fatigued. And then I think about how there's still 6 more months and plenty more milestones to get through after all that, I just want some cheese and a nap!
2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? Seeing my baby on my next appointment, August 24.
3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: This is the longest I've been pregnant . I miscarried last year at 8 weeks. I've been an emotional train wreck . I try to be positive but the fear and doubt always creep up on me. With my last pregnancy, I remember having many headaches and brownish pinkish discharge. With this baby, I have had zero discharge or bleeding!! Yay! However yesterday I got my first headache and I was so scared because I keep associating a headache with something bad happening to baby. I freak out and start googling stuff ( I had no idea missed miscarriages actually existed ) , which only makes my anxiety worse.
4. GTKY: If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Does pizza and ranch count as one ?!
Thanks @bayliegirl I finally got the call back from my Dr.! She said the u/s margin of error is 4 days, so that would be amazing across the board and put me at ease. She said I don't have to get another u/s because everything checked unless I want to. I opted for another one in 2 weeks. Why not torture myself more? She also said @wishilivedinflorida and @mrsbinpA that betas are a huge range and their accuracy is not that great (the test they do). Not sure if it varies, but I've actually been told that often.
This is @kycade3013 bump please fix my damn screen name!
