February 2017 Moms

Early movements anyone?!

While I still consider myself a first time mom, I did get pregnant in high school and chose adoption for my sweet girl.
So this is technically my second pregnancy. I felt movement at 17 weeks with my last, and so I figured I would feel movement sooner this time around, but not this soon! The last few days I was pretty sure I was feeling little kicks here and there, but last night the baby was like rolling over, and doing some major movement that you could feel from the outside! Anyone else feeling it so soon?
I am certainly not complaining, it's one of the best parts of being pregnant, but I was certainly taken off guard!
Also, I didn't think I saw a board on this already, but if there is one (or if we are talking about it on symptoms) let me know and I'll redirect there!

Re: Early movements anyone?!

  • I haven't started feeling anything but I was 14/15 weeks with my last pregnancy so I'm sure I will soon. I don't think the baby is big enough at this point to be seen from the outside.

  • I'm convinced I can feel her quite often. Little flutters and "brushes" from the inside. Not like gas movements at all, and it's been a nightly occurrance just before bed for a few days now. Though I have not carried to term before, I am very small framed and quite sensitive--can usually feel ovulation, etc. Exciting!

    I'm sorry but what?
  • @GlitterDragon it's mittelschmerz (hopefully) that's she's referring to. I can generally tell when and which side I'm ovulating on because it's uncomfortable and sometimes painful. I have PCOS so I don't know if that contributes to it?

Mittelschmerz is different than being "small framed and quite sensitive."
  • I was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt lol. That's why I said it was hopefully what she meant.
  • I feel tiny little movements in the evening when I'm sitting. I felt my last two babies right around this time too. My oldest I didn't feel until 14 weeks.
Rachel, mama to Ava (6), Olivia (4), Nora (2), and baby#4 on the way.

  • @cantalopes24 no I know :) My thinking was she didn't say anything like that as her reason. But I got where you were going.
  • I felt distinguishable kicks at 13+6 this past weekend. The past couple days have been small movements.
  • I didn't realize there was an actual term for it, but after googling, it makes sense. Is this not a fairly common thing? It started after I went off the pill and went through some crazy hormonal adjustments. My back aches for about three hours each month on one side or the other. Obviously not now, but yeah. I don't have PCOS as far as I know, but period pain is pretty crippling without a heavy dose of ibuprofen.
  • I'm one the few women who is more sensitive to feeling ovulation, so it truly is a thing. It's more than just cramping, for me at least, it can be worse than cramping before my period. So far I've felt what I believe are only   called phantom kicks from my recent pregnancy before this one. So it's hard to tell if those are still happening or if it's truly this baby I'm feelings.

  • I always THOUGHT I had ovulation pain, until I started temping and learned that I just have random pre-ovulation pain or something. It never lined up.
  • I felt 1 little flutter at a little over 12 weeks and this week at 14+ weeks I've felt a lot of action.  I even felt some of the movements yesterday when baby was running away from the doppler.

  • Sometimes I think I'm feeling flutters when I'm switching positions in bed. I'm only 14 weeks so it does seem very early and I haven't convinced myself it's the baby.
With DS I only started feeling movement around 20 weeks.

  • I felt flutters the other night. I had just used the Doppler and it was right when the baby was, so I don't think I was imagining it?

  • This is my first and I swore I was feeling a little movement going on recently. It was confirmed when we had our appointment on Monday. When the doc was looking for the heartbeat, I could feel what I thought were movements and she said "You're little one is really moving around in there!"...so I feel like my suspicions have been confirmed. Yay for feeling movement!

  • I'll take some flutters please!
  • I'm 15 weeks and this is the first pregnancy I've carried this far. I am pretty sure I have felt baby move a few times here and there for about a week. I obviously don't know for sure but it's feels like what everyone describes and it's right in the spot where baby is. I can't wait for the baby to get bigger so I can know for sure that it is the baby moving in there.
  • I'm 15 weeks and thought I felt some kicks while working out the other day. I happened to have a doctors appointment that day and mentioned it to him but he said highly unlikely and it was probably just gas :(
  • I've definitely felt some movement. This is my 3rd baby, I know the difference between kicks and gas, mmmmmmk :)

I am wary of feeling the baby so early. It's not common to feel the baby when it's so eaely and tiny even if you are sensitive, thin and on your second+ child. It's just so small.

I am 14 weeks 3 days and I have felt mini flutters at night the last 2 nights. (Nothing regular and nothing strong) I have experienced movement before but I am not going to say for sure this was the baby because it is so early. In several more weeks I know I will feel him or her and that's good enough for me.

Edit This is my 5th pregnancy where it would be possible to feel movement so I know what I am looking for, I am sensitive, but even when I was incredibly thin I didn't feel movement at 12 weeks or insanely early.

I did have a crazy dream where I felt movement as if it was much further and I could make out the body parts.
  • I have felt a flutter here and there.  Mostly in the morning before I get up.  I am pretty sure it is movement from something not normally in my stomach.   This is baby #4 though, so it's not my first rodeo.

@HeatSparks, just wait, double movement and hiccups will get all kinds of crazy.

  • Some women can totally tell when they ovulate and from which side. My friend could always tell when she was ovulating sadly she had an ectopic pregnancy and lost one of her tubes. She says now its very noticeabld when she ovulates from that specific side every other month. Anyways I found that interesting.
  • Im jealous of yall i havent felt anything just gas...sad face.
  • Add me to team Mittelschmerz, I could always tell when and what side I ovulated from.

  • With my first I was super thin and when I went in for my 20 week ultrasound I had mentioned that I didn't feel anything. They said that even though I was 20 weeks and thin, sometimes you just don't feel anything yet, a couple weeks later I started feeling movement. With my second I was between 15 and 16 weeks and could definitely tell the first time I felt her move. We were on our way back from vacation and she was kicking right where the seat belt was sitting the entire way home. It was crazy how strong it was too. Currently I'm 14 +1 and haven't felt for sure movement. I've had a couple times I thought maybe it was but I wouldn't say it was because it wasn't obvious enough for me. I am getting excited for it though, the big belly, and baby movements are my favorite parts of pregnancy.

I have felt some flutters! This is my 5th pregnancy and it's twins (not sure if twins mean earlier movement). It's crazy. ETA: I am also team mittleschmerz- seems like there might be a correlation? Interesting.

  • I learned last night that if I lay on my side leaning toward my stomach he gets pissed and moves around..  This is like 3 weeks earlier than I felt my first.
  • I am no where near skinny and I'm pretty sure I feel it. @MommaBean I agree I don't think your size has to do with you being able to feel it from the inside.
  • Where your placenta sits can effect feeling movement. Placentas on the anterior side block movement a bit more than the back.
  • @PerraSucia in my last pregnancy I had an anterior placenta and I didnt feel the baby for a long time comoaned to the rest.
  • I'm maybe able to feel something? I have been a fart monster this entire time so it might be gas, but there is one specific area where I can often feel a little buzzing. I have to remember not to be feeling my ute at work and on the subway.
