Re: Let's Talk Babywearing

  • And I just wanted to throw this out there that you can get great deals at kids consignment stores. I always see ergos and moby wraps for $50/$20 or less. And a lot of times broken in carriers and wraps are more comfortable!

  • Another tip for saving money on a wrap, I bought a Boba but used my registry points towards it so I ended up paying for shipping and taxes on it. And ditto to @underthesea lots of second hand ones out there are in great shape and going for super low prices!
  • I have re-caught up with the thread and would like to point out a couple of small things! A Infant insert with a Tula and Ergo is a must with a newborn. In order to keep them in a safe position it is important to use the insert and later on just the pillow until they are big enough, 3 months with the full insert and around 5 with just the pillow typically. If not used baby will be too low in the carrier and legs will now be in the proper position. The towel or blanket trick is useful in a pinch but it isn't a long term substitute for the insert.

@mommywesley making a crarrier can be a great option for a carrier DIY Babywearing on facebook is a great resource on how much length you need and what fabrics to choose. With the jersey fabric it is important to have 3 passes over baby.

There are a ton a wraps out there I remember how overwhelming it was when I first started looking for one >.< I used to think I would only want one or two.... Now I have a ton though lol

  • Oh as far as forward facing goes it can be done safely and is a great option for lots of babies but it is important not to forward face until baby has full trunk and head control. Also it is not safe to let baby fall asleep forward facing.
