  • Yay! So excited for you @allishally13
Hope everything goes super smooth for you!

I've got two weeks until my induction. (Hopefully baby comes before then!)
  • I'm 2 weeks from my due date, with a possible induction a couple days before.  I can't wait to be done testing and watching the carbs and sugar on everything I put in my mouth!!
  • @allishally13 How exciting! Good luck with everything!

  • @allishally13 how exciting! Good luck!

I'm 36+2 today and have a growth scan scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. I'm thinking they'll talk to me more about delivery dates at that appointment, but I'm really not sure. Good luck to all those getting close!
  • So happy. Had my growth scan today and baby is now measuring 8lb 2oz (87th percentile, down from 95th two weeks ago). So relieved that we will likely be ok for vaginal delivery. I guess even with the random highs that the insulin is helping.

    Best wishes for everyone.
  • Glad to hear it @serah496

I've been having some random highs too even with meds. Doc is hoping I don't need to add insulin for the last week and I am hoping so too.
  • I had my 36 week growth scan, NST, and an appointment with a midwife today. Baby girl is still measuring right on time and just under the 50th percentile (estimated 6 lbs 3 oz). I had a couple of small contractions during the NST but I had no clue. I'm a little more than 1 cm dilated, but I know all that could be meaningless at this point. I'm thrilled that she's still the right size and not big, but the only problem now is she's breech! The focus now is trying to get her turned around and keeping her size down!
  • Ugh, I keep getting lows in the middle of the day (from taking glyburide) and they have me feeling shaky and crappy.

    Just complaining here. Thanks.
  • @No more miss,  that sucks! Hope it straightens out for you, and that you have that baby soon, so you can quit taking the medicine.  :(
  • Yes! I'm hoping all our GD ladies have perfect size babies with no blood sugar issues. And that we can then indulge a little while losing some weight too.
    Ahh, in a perfect world!
  • @No more Miss! I was so ready to indulge that I wasn't even out of the delivery room before I sent DH to get me a cheeseburger, fries and a Coke. That first day was like a sugar and carb fest. It made me feel like crap but I regret nothing.

This is basically my plan, too!!! Sending whoever will go, for a frozen Strawberry Lemonade, and anything with a bun!!! I have a bag of truffles in my hospital bag too! LOL
  • I have these special chocolates that my inlaw brought back from Hawaii. I cannot wait!

I'll probably need an Italian grinder too! Ahh! Yum
  • I have lost 2.5 lbs this week and haven't gained any in the third trimester. I think it's the GD meal plan and I should be happy but everyone says I look too tiny to be 38 weeks :/ I started out overweight so I guess it's ok. Anyone else experiencing this with the GD diet?
  • @katie121209 I didn't gain any weight from about 27 weeks until the last week or so. Ive gained a couple lbs recently, but I'm also starting to swell in this southern heat so I think it's some of that. People say I look small too, but I had a growth scan on Tuesday and baby girl is healthy and happy and measuring right on time so I'm not too worried. Just less weight to lose after birth! It'll also make me feel less guilty for indulging in the things I haven't been allord to eat instead of going on a post-pregnancy diet. ;)

I know they measure my stomach with the measuring tape each week and say it's fine but o wish I had been offered growth scans too just to calm down my worries. I'm with you on indulging for a bit and not feeling guilty!
  • @katie121209 I gained a pound between my last 2 appointments, but I had lost about 5-6 in the first 10 or so weeks of the GD diet. I'm only up a total of 3lbs, since my first appointment at 10 weeks! I should be thinner after giving birth than I was going in. Although, I know I've lost some muscle,  since I haven't been able to run in months.

@katie121209 i lost a couple of pounds myself.  The dr didn't seem overly concerned as long as little guy was gaining weight.  I am thankful he has slowed down in that arena!  He was3weeks ahead now he's only a day. :)

For those of us with gd, how many are being induced and when?

    Edited, because i can't spell.
  • I guess I'm in the minority. Diagnosed with GD at 14 weeks lost 6 lbs in the following weeks.

Now I've been gaining again. I didn't like the scale this week- up 4 lbs, wtf? Doc said it was because I was in a different room. Uh, ok. So probably up 20lbs total.

I'm being induced at 39w,1. August 15th, 10 days away! I'm controlling my GD with medication.

Different scales are so misleading! Your induction is so soon!

At my appt today I mentioned to my doctor how people say my belly looks too small and she said yes it is smaller than average but that it was fine. I'm not sure that that made me feel any better!! I wish I knew how big baby was lol.
  • @katie121209 My weight has been staying about the same since the start of this GD diet 8 weeks ago. My doctors do the same thing (measuring my belly) at the appointments and said everything looked normal. Still, like you, I wish I could have a growth scan to know approximately how big the baby is right now.

@sbelle474 I'm 37 weeks right now, and if baby doesn't come out before the due date, I'll have to schedule an induction around 39-40 weeks. Now I just wait.

My Dr. is willing to let me go to 40 weeks,  but if Baby boy isn't here on his own by Tuesday, when I go back, I'm going to ask about inducing on Friday the 12th. That will be 39weeks 5days. My OB is going on vacation on the 15th.
  • I am 37 weeks exactly today and went today for what should have been my final ultrasound bc of a short interval between pregnancies and the fact that I am 35. They think the baby is measuring a little
large (7lbs 8oz) and that I have just a tiny bit
more amniotic fluid than I should. The doc at MFM wants me to do the three hour test next week, after having passed the one hour at 30 weeks.

My question is, really? I will be almost 38 weeks by the time they do the test and I'm scheduled for a RCS two weeks from today at 39 weeks. I am going to call my OB first thing Monday morning to see what she says, but something is telling me she is going to tell me not to worry about it at this point. Am I being overly optimistic? My last ultrasound was a month ago and everything was normal, so either I developed GD in the last four weeks,  the measurements are inaccurate or its nothing.

So because I have been able to keep my sugars in check through diet alone, my Dr doesn't want to induce me until after 40 weeks.  I'm really disappointed,  and so over all of it already!  I go in for an ultrasound and BPP on Monday to see how big baby is and back to the OB on Tuesday.  I'm going to plead for an induction next week!  I'll be 40 weeks on Sunday.
  • My insulin dose needs are going in these last couple weeks which is encouraging. Although I'm officially sick of this diet! In other news, I had an EVC attempt today to turn my breech baby and it failed. So after all my hard work to keep my sugar levels in check & keep baby small so I can have a natural labor, I'm scheduled for a c-section on 8/25. I'm definitely disappointed but trying to accept that it is what it is. Sorry...had to vent a little!

@ShanRum3 I'm surprised that your doc won't induce at 40 weeks. As soon as I was diagnosed with GD, I was told 40 weeks was the cutoff for delivery. Hopefully you can convince them!
  • @LAMurray808 Baby has been measuring small, and my numbers have been excellent with diet alone. When i had a 32 week ultrasound, they only estimated him to be barely over 6 lbs by 39 weeks. We will see what they say on Monday. I think the Dr. wants him to put on more weight.
  • Has anyone else been waking  up starving in the middle of the night?   I usually have my snack around 9pm, and by 4am, I'm awake and hungry. This just started in the last week or so. I hate to eat during the night, and screw up my fasting number.
  • @ShanRum3 I feel your pain. I'm been able to control through diet and I'm measuring a bit smaller although I haven't gotten any ultrasounds. I will have an NST and ultrasound on Thursday, day before 40 weeks. At today's appt the exam revealed no dilation or softening so she discussed induction at 41 weeks :/
i did get the go ahead to have a few indulgEnces so we proceeded to get an ice cream after the appt today!
  • Hang in there GD mommas!

Baby is out- I'm over the hump and it is awesome not to be testing and taking medicine.

What's for breakfast? Ummm all the carbs. Haha. Ok ok everything in moderation.
  • I'm so over it...today is my due date.  I only have enough test strips left for today and tomorrow.. I hate to spend another $40 for 100 more strips that I won't need. My brother is Type 1 diabetic and i think he has extra testers and supplies. . I guess if necessary,  I can borrow something from him.
At this point, I'm pumping in hopes to induce labor.... it is giving me some painful cramps,  so keeping my fingers crossed.  I'm also planning to be doing some walking at a car show with the family today... so maybe it will speed things up.
  • @ShanRum3
    Oh geez.
I have tons of extra strips (like 140ish). maybe I can donate them to someone?? Freestyle Lite, anyone can PM me if interested, I can ship.

hope you don't need them very very soon!
  • I'm in countdown mode to my scheduled c-section on 8/25 due to breech baby. The closet I get, the more I want to say screw it and eat what I want! I have been reducing my insulin doses thanks to low blood sugars all of a sudden so I'm hoping it's a good sign of bouncing back to normal after delivery! Oh and I'm going to have so much leftover insulin & supplies...such a waste of money!
  • @LAMurray808 Good luck! Hope everything goes smoothly for you. My numbers are coming down slightly this week, too! My endo told me the pregnancy hormones that affect blood sugar are usually the highest around 37-38 weeks, so this might be why.

  • My numbers came down the last week because I couldn't eat full meals anymore.

Unfortunately, DS had low blood sugar at birth and had to have heel pricks every 3hrs for 24hrs after birth. Poor thing. But his sugars reached a normal level and everything was fine.
  • Thanks @jjang27! @no more miss I'm sorry for your sweet boy having to get all those heel prices but I'm glad all is good now! I'm hopeful that the c-section goes smoothly and I am able to feed my baby asap to try to avoid blood sugar issues. It's also what's keeping me on the diet at this point. Hopefully it all works out. And congrats on your precious baby!
  • The labor nurse told me that their hospital policy is to do heel pricks for 24 hours for all babies born to GD mothers :/

My dr did give me the ok to have a few splurges since I'm in these last few days and my numbers have been good. I had a tiny blizzard and it was amazing.
  • I go in tomorrow morning for my induction. I ran out of test strips today, so haven't tested since after breakfast. I am still watching what I eat though. I figure it matters little right now what the number says, because by this point, I pretty much know what I can and can't eat.
@NoMoreMiss, When I had DS2, they poked his heel for the first 24 hours just as a matter of procedure. It broke my heart every time they did it! :(
  • Good luck, @ShanRum3!
My baby isn't out yet, so tomorrow when I see my OB, we'll probably schedule an induction as well.
