UO Thursday

Re: UO Thursday

  • Honestly 4 months ago there was no way I was down to join a FB group. But I feel like in the last couple of months I've been much more active on here, and have received and given support to the point where I have bonded enough with you ladies that I feel comfortable doing the FB group thing. So I'm down whenever we set this up. But yes, sooner rather than later would be awesome what with recovery/sleep deprivation/etc when the baby gets here!

  • Did you guys see October already started their FB? It might be a good idea just to start getting it set up now because theirs seems like a bit of a process to get people added. And like pp said, once the babies are here, I doubt anyone will want to be the one to set it up.

I judge people who have standard bump profile pics. You don't even need to choose a personal pic, just something different. It's not that hard!
IT IS THAT HARD THOUGH! Took me forever to figure it out, and now that I want a new pic, I can't figure out how to do it.

ETA: If you know how to change your pic, please let me know because I tried and failed :(

HAHA thank you! I tried to get a profile pic up when I first joined, but couldn't figure it out and now I just don't care!

Could it be time to put it to a vote?

I'm sort of ready for a FB group, but at the same time it makes me really nervous to have my personal info shared to strangers. I like being able to be anonymous on here, not to sound like a creeper, but I've seen some pretty crazy catfish stories. Does anyone else feel this way?
No, me too. I go back and forth. One second I want a FB group so I feel more comfortable sharing more, like pictures of DD, because, seriously, she cute. And even her name. I feel like I hold a lot back so I want to be able to share, but I still worry that some of you bitches may be crazy. ;)
Having a private FB group would feel better for me too as far as sharing pictures. Pictures and info on the bump are available to anyone.

I deactivated my FB right around my 2nd trimester, but I'm starting to feel ready to get back into it and I'd definitely consider a FB group over Bump after baby is here, just because of the convenience.

For anyone worried about privacy - if you put your FB account setting to private, then no one will see any of your personal information unless they friend you, even if you're in a private group.

I think we should put it to a vote, I don't know who would be in charge of setting it up, but really, I have nothing but free time right now so I would definitely help

  • I'm down for a FB group starting up, but I can also see why some people want to wait. I'm going with the majority on this one :)
  • I'll look at how to change profile pics when I get home later and make a tutorial :) I haven't changed mine since I started my account almost 3 years ago.

I'm good with starting FB as well, kind of.  I also like the anonymity of TB but I think setting a private FB group would help.

Plus, and I know we talked about this before, but I'm one of those "lurk and like more than I post" types, so I feel like I know more about most of you than you know about me so I'm a little nervous I'll be the kid in the corner with no friends for a while.
That's exactly how I feel. We can hang in the corner together.
  • OK so to change your profile pic...you need to click on "my account" at the top right of your page (next to "log out") and then it should show your profile pic in a circle.  Click on the circle and it gives you the option to update and upload a new pic.  Let me know if you still have issues and I will screenshot pics to help :)

  • My UO: Sling TV? Sounds like the name of a bad all male porn channel.

My other UO: I'm all for BF, and hope to do so myself, but I swear I have misophonia and I HATE the sound of it.
  • @RN1stBae Misophonia over here too, I feel your pain!! gum can be my worst enemy some days...
  • I'm another poster without Facebook. Makes me sad to think things here will fizzle out if everyone makes the move over there...this has been something I look forward to daily, reading all the threads, hearing how everyone is doing etc. I do have Instagram, but that's not the same as Facebook in the sense of conversations unless you do private messages. I used to go there daily and I've been opting to hang out here more and more. I hope the traffic sticks around here for a while. Just my thoughts.

Also, question regarding the sling tv - do they have redzone channel? (Doubtful, but I thought I'd ask!)
  • @rock1cherry i dont think it has redzone.

Are you saying you hate the sound of a baby breastfeeding? Or you hate the sound of the words, breastfeeding? Lol if it's the first one, you might feel differently when it's your own baby. I freaking hate, hate, smacking but when my toddler does it, it's freaking adorable. Mainly because she's not old enough to "get" chewing quietly.
  • @MrsVoorhees I think she's saying it's more the sound of people eating, even it that person is a baby breastfeeding. Which I totally get, whenever one of my good friends breastfeeds her baby the sound totally squicks me out. But maybe I'll feel different if it's my baby? Or maybe I'll be like "Um, young miss, please have a better latch so I don't have to year you smacking away, it's poor manners" (in my head that quote sounded like Helen Mirrin said it... because it's classier)

  • I totally get that, I don't want to hear anyone else making noises even close to that sound. But your own baby....I bet you'll feel differently! Or maybe you won't, but I definitely did/do!
  • ahhh oh no, I totally get grossed out by sounds of people eating too, hadn't even thought about breastfeeding. I agree that if its my own baby though I won't mind at all. Actually come to think of it, I think it's cute when our pup smacks really loud on a treat, and he didn't even come from my womb.
