@karaelaine1991 I'll have to go check it out in person if I can find it. I'd love to have something like that that is also portable! Thank you!
No problem! If you do end up getting that one, just a heads up, the mattress pad is pretty thin. DD didn't mind at first but after about a month we ended up buying a pack n play mattress; it did fit in the bassinet insert and she obviously couldn't move on her own yet so we weren't worried about her somehow falling out even though it did lift her a good 3 inches or so closer to the top. Mattress was only about $30 and even now she sleeps just as well on it as she does in her actual crib, which makes overnight trips a lot less stressful.
@shlecka, along the same lines as what @karaelaine1991 posted, but smaller, look into the Graco travel lite crib. I just got one and it is half the size of a traditional pack n play. It is 23" x 31". I have a rock n play, but wanted to try something different this time and wanted something small for our room. You can get mattresses for it too. It is really cute, small and portable. I think it will work well for us this time around.
I got a bassinet that was a Moses basket and changing table in one, I highly recommend it because it made transitioning to his crib super simple. bwcause the mattress pad on these are always horrible, I ended up using a super firm and thin pillow, it fit perfectly so the bottom wasn't so hard. I also used a pillow case for the sheet instead of splurging on specially sized stuff.
@Carly79 and the other gorgeous ladies I'm in the STM boat with, yep I feel like I should be doing something. By this point in my first pregnancy I had read so many books and had lists out the wazoo and excited for the adventure into the unknown. This time around I have to re-do the nursery...and that's pretty much it. Lol
To past the time, I've been doing what another poster has--cleaning out closets, going through my old clothes bins, donating a ton of items that have collected dust over the years, hubby cleaned out the garage and shed, etc. I'm putting off going through the baby clothes and supply boxes until December so I have something to do later on.
Has anyone used a HALO bassinet swivel sleeper? This is the one DH and I are looking at, but when we went to Buy Buy Baby to see it in person, the batteries weren't working so we couldn't really test it out.
@Wholesome I don't have any experience nursing while pregnant or tandem nursing, but I will say baby #3 and #4 was so much better pain wise. My first baby I gave up because of the pain and strictly pumped, my second I fought through and it was so awful, but went on to nurse him a year. I'm sure it had to do with me being more comfortable with 3 and 4. I remembered a lot from my 2nd that helped with 3 and 4 etc.
Hopefully things will be easier for you this time around! And I always thought having a toddler and nursing through pregnancy would help too because while your nipples may get sore from hormones etc, they are already toughened up from nursing.
@JLJ2012 we used the graco travel lite with my first and it worked really well for us. We kept it in our room and had the regular pack n play in the living room. We've looked into getting a rock n play for this one, but will most likely stick with the travel lite. It was definitely great for traveling and much easier to take than the regular pack n play!
@nolemomma14, so glad to hear good feedback! It is so small and cute. I can't wait to use it.
@Wholesome, I have no experience tandem nursing, but can say that when nursing my second I had zero pain from day one. However, I am convinced it has more to do with babies latch than with it being my second time around. My first had a shallow latch and I was always adjusting him. It was painful for a long time. I never had to adjust my second, he just had a good latch. I think that made all the difference.
@Wholesome I just want to give you a pat on the back for continuing to nurse. How old is your LO? I had to wean two weeks ago because my milk was gone and it hurt so bad. My DD is 21 months. If I still had milk, I would have tried to power through.
Yes way to go @Wholesome. I'm still bummed that dd stopped. My nipple pain had mostly subsided by the time she weaned at 16 weeks, though it certainly wasn't comfortable. Do you have a local breastfeeding Facebook group to ask? Breastfeed, Chicago is a huge one in our area.

FTM but I'm most likely going to get this. I'm more interested in the overall design, and the fact that it can be pulled right up to the bed and then swivels so you can easily get in and out. I haven't tried any of the electronic features, but not sure I really care about those anyway.
My cousin's wife had a baby in April and they started out with a regular old school bassinet and switched to the Halo after a few weeks. They were literally raving about what a lifesaver the Halo was (without knowing that I was already looking at it), so that pretty much sold me.
@juliebird6 I want the Halo swivel sleeper but at this point want to see how things go. I ended up exclusively pumping with my first so one of us had to get up and get bottles anyways so something like that really wouldn't have come in handy. We also moved my son to his crib when he as about a month old because he slept better there and was a very noisy sleeper so the expense wouldn't have been worth it. We used a pack n' play with the bassinet insert for the first month in our room. I will probably see how the first week goes and how nursing goes this time around. I think from a nursing standpoint these are awesome
@carly79 Yes! Especially b/c we're having a boy again so I really don't even need like new clothes or anything! I can't set up the nursery until DH paints it either and he is first working on getting the new guest bedroom in order so the current guest bedroom can become the baby's room. I took tomorrow and Monday off work to do baby stuff but feel like there's nothing to actually do right now!
@wholesome I can't speak of tandem nursing but nursing my second was easier than my first. I was sore for about 6 weeks with my first with cracked nipples and such but with my second that was born 9yrs later I only had some discomfort for the first week on one side. Then I had my son 2 hrs later and had no issues at all. No pain what so ever. I would think if you are still nursing that as long as you are sure babies mouth is latched correctly in the duck lips you should be golden.
My son is 2.5 now. I don't know how much of a supply I have. We only nurse before bedtime and I don't think he will be weaning any time soon, he still asks for it throughout the day sometimes but I just ask him if he wants to go to bed and he stops asking. Sometimes I feel bad for that because he's so comforted by nursing and sometimes it feels like the only quality time we get these days. I'm a SAHM and am with him all day but he's very active and when his daddy comes home, it's like his hero has arrived and he wants nothing to do with me (his job is very demanding so works basically 7 days a week half of the year so daddy time is special).
its so painful to nurse right now until his latch is good. I have to clench the armrest of the nursing chair to keep from yelping. Last night I forced him off earlier than normal and it caused him to have a rough time going to sleep because he was still too restless when I put him in bed. I plan to continue but am just looking for someone to say, "your pain will go away in a week or two," haha.
@wholesome I don't have any personal experience with it, but it could be a hormonal thing causing the pain and totally could go away in a week or two considering how much and how quickly hormones change during pregnancy!

at what point does nursing your firstborn not hurt while pregnant?
also, did you have the same obstacles when nursing your second newborn? (Did it feel just like it did the first time with pain, etc.)
how did you go about teaching your firstborn how to share while tandem nursing?
