I went to the Dr. today, and she was concerned about the weight that I have put on during pregnancy. Well, only after I brought it up. You see... I have been diagnosed with GD since early pregnancy. I was on insulin for a while then I moved states, saw a different dr. and got my numbers under control without insulin and with diet alone. I have logged my food intake for months. I have made sure not to eat crap and to keep my blood sugar in check. I am in no way starving myself, as I ate an entire ice cream sheet cake over the course of 2 weeks. I started out this pregnancy at 120 lbs (which is 10 lbs over my normal body weight, but I never lost IVF weight from my previous child). I am currently 130 lbs. I even lost 1.5 lbs since my last appointment. I brought this to my Drs. attention and she was like "Oh, yea, that is not good. You should have gained more weight for the health of the baby." Now, I am sort of pissed. I have done everything that they asked me to do to keep this baby healthy, in terms of blood sugar management. I have brought my weight concerns up to my GD dr. and she said "eat more avocado and nuts and stuff with good fats." Right... bc that is going to pack on the weight.
Basically, is anyone else in the same boat? Did anyone not gain very much weight this pregnancy? I feel like I have done something wrong in trying to do everything right! Also, now that I am 34 weeks, I barely have an appetite! I feel so full so quickly bc of the size of my belly! It makes me sick to eat too much.
Re: Weight at 34 weeks
I do agree with your OB about trying to include more healthy fats. I eat full fat cheese, lots of nuts and seeds, avacado, and beans. It hasn't helped me put on more weight, but it helps me feel like I'm not depriving the baby of calories (although she's far from small).
