How many weeks? 36! That feels like a milestone, not sure why!

What size? Papaya, cabbage patch doll (aww!), chihuahua

Upcoming appointments? Thursday - 36 week appointment including group B strep swab.. hooray! As well as lots of paperwork (birth plan, etc) stuff to fill out

Rants/Raves/Questions? Nada.. lots of pubic pain after I've been sitting for a while. After my 45 minute commute to work I have to give myself a pep talk to start walking to the building.. just so stiff/sore to get moving, then I'm OK.

    Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Not much!

GTKY: On a scale of 1-10, how prepared do you feel for baby's arrival? Hilarious you should ask this, I literally asked my husband exactly this 2 nights ago and he answered "Zero".. then after I chuckled he said "No, probably a 6"  I feel more like an 8 I think. We got our new monitor with 2 cameras in the mail yesterday and I just couldn't for the life of me muster up the energy/interest to really try it out (I was cranky). Gotta get the cameras mounted then we're basically there stuff-wise, and just playing the waiting game.

  • How many weeks? 35 week!

    What size? Mini-lop rabbit

Upcoming appointments? 36 week appt and two NSTs next week.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I have gotten more sleep the last several nights. I'm still exahusted by bedtime, but don't feel like crashing halfway through the day, so that's really nice.

    Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Still the usual.

GTKY: On a scale of 1-10, how prepared do you feel for baby's arrival?

5, maybe a 6. We definitely have enough done that if she came today, we'd be fine. However, there is a lot more I want to get done before her arrival because it'll be easier to do without a newborn.

  • How many weeks? 36

What Size? Papaya...for some reason this feels smaller than last week's pineapple, but what do I know??

Upcoming appts? Growth scan and 36 week appt this coming Thursday. I can't wait. I'm excited to see baby on ultrasound and my appt is with the doc that I consider to be "mine". I've been rotating through all the other docs in the practice, so it'll be nice to check in and get a plan together.

Rants/Raves/Questions: I was up until 1 am with bad BH. It got to the point where I thought something might be happening. I'm also having IT band problems. My sister, who is a physical therapist, worked on me yesterday, but man is it sore today. I so wish I could take an ibuprofen.

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions: My rant was mainly about my symptoms.

GTKY: On a scale of 1-10, how prepared do you feel for baby's arrival? Last week, when my husband and girls were gone, I got a lot done. I washed a bunch of baby gear and cleaned. We don't have a nursery yet and the only thing that started freaking me out was not having a dresser to put the clean baby clothes in once I wash them. That said, I'm feeling like a 6-7. I know if baby were to come today everything might not be ready, but we'd make it work. You kind of have to, right?

  • @AnnaS930 I agree, 36 weeks also feels like a milestone to me. I also have to give myself a pep talk before getting up once I've been sitting for a while. Last week, after I had a long dinner with my friends, I wanted to cry when I went to stand up. I felt like a wishbone about to crack in two.

  • @LizC216 - yes! I'm having a lot of pubic bone pain.. not severe enough to think that something is wrong, just a spreading feeling of an area that should not spread.

I think I've always like the multiple of 4's for weeks, they all seem like a big deal to me.

    How many weeks? 33

    What size? loaf of bread

    Upcoming appointments? next week

Rants/Raves/Questions? Our labor class for next Sunday got rescheduled to the following Sunday, when we will be in Niagara Falls. So annoyed, and not sure if it's worth driving back for.

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Not much really. I've been feeling him hiccup more lately, so I guess that's a good sign lungs are developing.

GTKY: On a scale of 1-10, how prepared do you feel for baby's arrival? About a 5. We have all the basic things we need, but I still don't know what I'm doing.
  • due 9/6, 36 weeks, giant papaya

    Upcoming appointments?
NST tomorrow and Growth Scan Friday

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
went to L&D for headache and elevated blood pressure this morning. Spent 4h there. BP never went down 140s/90s but my labs and urine were all go so they set me free around 10am

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? I am so hungry but then can only eat a little bit.

GTKY: On a scale of 1-10, how prepared do you feel for baby's arrival? 7/10 I think. The glider rocker came today and as long as hubby gets it in the nursery by next week, we're good!

How many weeks? 35 - almost wrote 36 because I keep wanting to be further than I am haha

    What size? lop rabbit...aww

Upcoming appointments? Next Monday for OB (with GBS swab, yay)

Rants/Raves/Questions? Rave is H has been extra cute lately about wanting to meet baby. He keeps walking into the nursery and saying "CANT WE JUST HAVE A BABY?" and this morning baby was kicking and he said "I'm excited". So that is super cute.

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Just back/hip pain, and inner thigh cramping when I walk long distances

GTKY: On a scale of 1-10, how prepared do you feel for baby's arrival? I want to say 10, then I remember there's a couple more things we need to pick up, but we could totally live without them if baby came tomorrow. We only need a garbage pail and 2 wet bags for cloth diapers (but plan to do newborn disposables so could just use a garbage bag) and a nursing cover (but have lots of scarves/blankets and don't plan to be in public early on anyways). So I'm going to stick with 10!

    How many weeks? 34.

What size? I feel like she takes up all the space. I don't know how she's going to get bigger without my stomach exploding Alien style.

Upcoming appointments? I pretty much live at the doctor's office right now. I go twice a week for NSTs. They try to schedule my clinic appointments on the same day as the NSTs so I don't drive as much, but then I spend hours there and it's just exhausting.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Here's my rant. I have been to Labor & Delivery three times now for things that have nothing to do with labor or delivery. I don't think I've felt a single contraction (some cramps, but only super rarely) which is fine, it's not time yet anyway. The first time I went to L&D was because of a migraine that wouldn't go away. Nothing else was wrong so I was discharged after four hours. Second time was because I bent over and had sudden, sharp, absolutely crippling pain in my abdomen, towards the middle but still near the right side. They said I probably pinched my uterus or she was in the way (diagnosed as "common pains of pregnancy") and I was discharged after four hours.

Last night, I lost vision in my eyes. I could only see about half of what I was looking at. I was at work, which became just about impossible to keep doing, because I wasn't able to read. I bumped into things every time I walked somewhere. I have NEVER experienced vision loss in my life, so of course I call my boss to get my replacement in early so I can go to L&D. My blood pressure was normal, all tests normal, and their diagnosis was literally the doctor shrugging. She said it could have been a visual migraine (I never got a headache, and have never had visual migraines ever, even during this pregnancy) or it could have been because my blood sugar was low. I have GD, and I did test, and my numbers were on the low end of normal. I tried eating and they stayed on the low end of normal. I also have had a pattern of lower and lower numbers as the weeks have gone by. The doctors said it wasn't hypoglycemia, so it wasn't anything to worry about, but I feel like it's very strange. I can eat more carbs now without my sugar spiking. I can eat things that I couldn't eat a few weeks ago, like milk, and my numbers don't move. I plan on asking about it at my next clinic appointment. I don't know what else to do besides that.

Oh, yeah, and this last visit also took four hours. I think it's a minimum they have to hold you there for.

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? I'm really hungry lately, even with the increased carbs and snack times. But I can't bring myself to eat more than I already do because I'm worried I'll screw something up. I'm not starving myself by any means, but I feel like my stomach never stops growling.

GTKY: On a scale of 1-10, how prepared do you feel for baby's arrival? Haha...ha..... (Bonus rant: I ordered the last of the baby stuff from Amazon, and they randomly decided they can't deliver half of it. So now I have to buy it all over again when the refund comes in.)

@jln27 Agh that sounds so frustrating with all your L&D trips and no real answers. Sorry :(

  • @RG1 The worst part is after the second trip I told my husband I didn't want to go back to L&D until I was actually in labor because I'm just so sick of it, but I didn't think vision loss was something I should just ignore. I'm just exhausted with everything right now.

How many weeks? 34 - this is a big week for me.  DS1 was born at 34 weeks 3 days (equivalent to Friday)

What size? Butternut squash - or approximately 4 pounds, 12 ounces, and 18.75 inches ;) (Going by DS1's stats)

Upcoming appointments? I had one yesterday and broke down.  This week freaks me out.  My doctor did a good job of reassuring me and I feel better.  She said as of Saturday it's like I'm a FTM again.  And they fully believe I'll make it several more weeks.  She offered to do a check and I declined.  I'm not sure what doing that would do, one way or the other.  I noticeably felt DS1 drop two days before he was born so if I feel that way again I'd probably call. So far so good.  Next appointment is 36 weeks! Hoping I make it to that one :)

Rants/Raves/Questions? Yesterday I felt awful.  I'm hoping it was just because of anxiety from stressing over this being the week DS1 was born and not something I'm going to have to deal with regularly til this one is born.

    Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? See above?

GTKY: On a scale of 1-10, how prepared do you feel for baby's arrival? 8 - everything is washed and set up.  All that's left to do is decorate (still finishing DS1's quilt for his big boy room) and get another monitor/sound machine.  Neither of which I'm worried about anytime soon since he'll be in our room for a few months anyway.  That number will dramatically change if this one comes earlier than expected.  I'm not prepared for how to deal with a NICU baby and a toddler at home.

What size? Uh ... no idea. I had an ultrasound today and baby is measuring approx 6.6 lbs

Upcoming appointments? Weekly appointments now. My next is Monday.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Heartburn, Insomnia, RLS, my feet *just* started swelling up :( Craving ice pops, popsicles, italian ice and snow cones. Basically ice. Someone said that might be a sign my iron is low?

GTKY: On a scale of 1-10, how prepared do you feel for baby's arrival? As far as having stuff ready, we're a 10. Emotionally ... I'm more of a 5. Because of previous postpartum issues I'm nervous. :/ But I am super excited to find out of this is a boy or girl and cuddle a newborn again. <3

  • @homebird Craving ice could definitely be a sign that your iron is low. I was eating ice like a maniac a few years ago and then one day I fainted at work. Turns out my hemoglobin was a 5. I ended up needing a blood transfusion because of how low it is. I had been eating ice non-stop for months before this all happened. Not trying to scare you, just letting you know it is a possibility. Docs can check your levels with a simple blood test.

Off topic, but back to my comment thinking a papaya was smaller than a pineapple...wrong. Our grocery store had a huge display of papayas and they are big...and heavy! Maybe I was confusing a papaya with a mango. I need to brush up on my tropical fruits.

  • @LizC216 - I'm actually having routine bloodwork done tomorrow, so I guess they'll find out if there's a problem? CBC I think the paperwork said.

  • @homebird A CBC should include your hemoglobin. Good luck! Hopefully it's just a weird pregnancy craving or maybe it's the summer heat!

  • @homebird for some reason the ice craving for low iron is usually an urge to chew and crunch on ice. A craving for Popsicles etc might just be exactly that... a craving.
