Re: FFFC 08.05.2016

  • @krzyriver @AllyTheKid I guess my FFFC and a UO as well is that I hate everything pumpkin!! Short of having one on my porch at Halloween, you won't find pumpkin anywhere near me. Though I don't go around complaining about it. I just politely decline all the pumpkin flavored food.

@MRSCORKER I'm the same way. For dd my mom and older sister went out and bought this cute little pink dress and cardigan. My dh and I put her in it, put her in her car seat, took a few pictures and then put her in a sleep and play thing from Carter's to actually take her home. It was a really nice gesture and it was cute (she did wear it again so it didn't go to waste) but the day we took her home was the coldest day so far that year and we were just like no way with the dress and the socks and all of it.

I just got another sleeper thing for this Lo.

But I think anyone who is super excited about it, should be! It's just not my cup of tea.
Agreed! Whatever makes you happy, I just didn't know this was a thing and don't care enough to do anything special.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE ambitiouskitchen.com. I've never had one recipe that wasn't amazing. She has a good mix of healthy recipes and horrible for you but delicious treats and her pumpkin recipes are on point!

  • @krzyriver PREACH! I don't like pumpkin spice lattes or pokemon go, but I don't need to complain about it. There's enough negativity in the world. Let people enjoy things.

ALSO +1 for starbucks cider in the fall!!! I know it's just store bought with caramel sauce and whipped cream, but it's magical. I get irrationally upset when they tell me they're out of it because I look forward to it so much! AND NOW I MUST HAVE A HOT APPLE CIDER. Even though it's like 102 degrees.

  • @AllyTheKid I always go to IHOP for the pancakes, but I'm sure most breakfast places would have them around that time. And the grocery stores usually sell mixes for the pancakes and the muffins in the fall. I usually get it from Target. Or I'll buy those little mini muffin bites you can put in lunches. They have pumpkin ones in fall.

    Im so hungry now. Lol

  • @MRSCORKER Thank you for my new autumn kitchen staple ;)

I probably wouldn't dig the lattes, but I hate coffee, so there's that.
  • @sportiegrl1213 @CopperBoom86 I'm actually enjoying a break calorie counting and working out too. I spent most of my first and second tri in tears trying to figure out how to maintain/slow gain during my pregnancy.  It
didnt work, so at 25 weeks, I decided to cut myself some slack.  I eat when I'm hungry and try to eat healthy but if I want ice cream I have a bowl of ice cream.   In 9 weeks I can start dieting and in 15 weeks I should be able to exercise again but for now, I'm going to enjoy my vacation from dieting.
  • @AllyTheKid - I think you would still love the lattes... I also don't like coffee but I LOVE me some pumpkin spice lattes.

@krzyriver (and everyone else)- since we're talking ihop... everyone should go try these banana pancakes they have with a butter rum sauce and some sort of nuts on the top. They're kind of amazing. DH and I never eat there but did on the way out of town for our babymoon last week. I'm now craving them.

@MRSCORKER - our plans for tonight got cancelled so I think I'm going to make one of those pumpkin recipes and stuff my face while wishing it was fall already. Thanks for that :)

  • Why can't it be October already?  :/
  • I need a good snickerdoodle recipe! I am looking to expand my cookie portfolio. Cookies are my jam, but I'm tired of making the same kinds over and over again so I am super excited about trying these out!
  • Also, I plan to make several batches of these and freeze them for a quick snack for nursing/on-the-go. I've made them before with both dried fruit and chocolate chips and they're so good. Perfect healthy treat!

  • @MRSCORKER, i'm so scared to open that link for fear I'll go into a baking frenzy this weekend!  But with the stepkids around this weekend, that means I won't have to consume all that myself. LOL.  Maybe I'll take a peek.

  • I'm very late to this, but Starbucks has a really good pumpkin bread/cake thing in the fall. I can't stand coffee, but I'll happily go there for apple cider and pumpkin bread :) I think it's more like a coffee cake texture, but its not super sweet. So good.
  • @bnsmith85 Pregnant or not, I LOVE food. I could go on about it for days. Lol

  • I have a legit FFFC.

I am jealous and almost resentful of women who have singleton, easier-than-mine, or somewhat normal, pregnancies. I am jealous that I most likely will not leave the hospital with my LOs, that they will probably spend time in the NICU, and that I don't get to enjoy this pregnancy like I had really imagined or hoped I would and see other pregnant mamas doing. This is my first and only pregnancy, of course I may have gone into it with unreal expectations, but I basically did not and will not get anything out of this pregnancy that I had hoped for (other than my babes).

The 2 or 3 showers and parties we were going to get to do with everyone we love, a maternity shoot, being able to go do things outside of my home on a regular basis and at least nesting at home, and what seems like the inevitable - leaving the hospital with my babies and getting to reach a full term pregnancy. Going home outfits don't even need packed in my hospital bag. None of those things get to happen. I feel guilty for feeling these thoughts because we were lucky to even get pregnant and I know the outcome of the pregnancy is still going to be the same, babies. But, it's nothing like I had hoped and wished for my pregnancy to be and I have been pretty physically miserable through a lot of it, at least half of it. It just makes me sad.  And then not proud of myself for feeling this way.

    Confession over.

Maybe the girls will surprise me and make me miserable for 7 more weeks instead of just a few.
    This.

    I feel completely robbed...

lol.. same here! I also really love just giving random Pinterest recipes a try. It makes me seem like I'm a good and adventurous cook, but really I just love Pinterest lol
  • @sjo_thetwins I'm so sorry about how you are feeling, but know that your feelings are very valid and real.  It's great that you can say those things.  I don't know how you feel, but when going through IVF, some of the things you mentioned were part of the risks that I had to consent to when choosing to transfer two embryos in me.  It's one thing to consent to them when it isn't a reality, and quite another when it becomes a reality.  We did end up pregnant with twins, but *TW* I lost one of them early in the 1st trimester.  That pain was incredible and still is from time to time.  I can't tell you how jealous I am of the people in the multiples thread because I want to be a MOP too, but I feel like I wouldn't be welcomed.  Back from that tangent... I just wanted to say that like others have said, I hope that in time these feelings diminish and will become a distant memory as you watch your twins grow up together.

I love what @krzyriver said as well about raining on other's parades, always being the debbie downer, and pointing out what they don't like/get.  I don't like pumpkin spice (or much pumpkin stuff), alcohol, or coffee in general, but I really wish I did.  Sometimes I wish I could participate in all the convos that occur about coffee flavors, brands, etc.

My FFFC is that while I have gone to many day care tours, have a someone who does in home day care in mind, and a few other options, I'm totally burying my head in the sand about it.  I just don't want to make that decision yet. I keep pushing back my making a decision each month.  Anyone else procrastinating on important baby decisions?
  • @allythekid - Pinterest is a giant rabbit hole, and I love it.  I don't go on it everyday, but I can't tell you the number of times I've gone there to find a recipe, reference something, find something funny, or remind myself of something I put on one of my boards.  Have fun!
  • @Piperella I am so sorry about your loss! I had no idea, but if you are ever wanting to contribute in the MoM thread, feel very welcome! I can't imagine a thread on this board that doesn't welcome all of our members.

    @PCOSbaby I am so sorry.
