Just curious as to how long our little ones are napping at this stage.  Also comment how long they stay awake in between naps.  Note these are day time naps and not MOTN.

Re: Nap times

  • DS just turned 8 weeks and when he first wakes up he can only stay awake for about an hour, after that first nap he can be awake for up to two hours and in the evening he will strech to three hours of awake time then he's down for the night.

Jackie varies. Sometimes she'll knock out for up to 3-4 hours, other times she wakes up every 10 minutes. She'll usually go about an hour or so before getting tired again. This includes feeding, diaper change and play time.

  • Sam is generally awake for an hour and a half or so and then he takes a 30-45 minute nap. However, since Wednesday he's been sleeping more. He must be growing.
  • Lillyana hasn't napped today at all!  I'm dying over here!  Haven't eaten yet today.

  • He can only stay awake for an hour after initially getting up in the morning too, then he naps for 45mins or so later on in the morning (if I'm lucky). His afternoon can go either way...he may just do a couple of 30-45min naps, or a short one and long one, or two long ones (2-3hrs each). He can stay awake from an hour to three hours but once we hit that three hour threshhold, he gets really fussy. His "I'm tired" cues aren't clearcut so it's tough to know where that golden window to put him down is sometimes.
  • Still trying to establish nap time- lots of napping in the stroller, put her in her crib for the first time today! It went great and I got some stuff done around the house!

I've just been following her lead but I think it's time to have a more set nap time at least once a day so I'm curious to see what everyone else's routine looks like

  • S usually stays up for an hour and a half after he gets up in the morning, and I can generally count on a good hour and a half nap in the morning. The first half hour of that is usually on me, as I let him get in a good deep sleep before I put him down. After that, he's up for around 60-90 minutes at a time for the rest of the day, and his naps range anywhere from 20-60 minutes. Sometimes he'll get one more bigger nap in the late afternoon. I wish we could get on a more regular schedule where he takes one longer morning and one longer afternoon nap with more awake time in between, but he's just not ready to be awake for very long at a time yet.
  • Based on the report cards that I get from daycare he usually sleeps for about 45 minutes on average.  He usually has one longer nap a day.  I think he is going through a growth spurt right now because he has been super sleepy.  Usually he is awake for about 1.5 hours, but sometimes this can be closer to 3 hours depending on our activities.Since he is still fed on demand and I do not let him go more than 4 hours without eating during the day there really isn't a set schedule of naps yet.  I am trying to get a nighttime routine down, but I also don't want to wake him just to feed him at a certain time.  He usually wants to eat right away when we get home from daycare, which I think is just code for, he missed me all day, because it doesn't matter when he ate last, he will still want to breastfeed.  Makes me feel loved. :)
  • She usually takes one long nap in the afternoon about 2 hours then maybe one or two short 30 minute naps depending on the day and is awake the rest of the day.

  • Umm, in not sure how to answer.  it's different every day for us. If I'm out running with the older kids she naps in the stroller/moby/car, etc. today she took two 2 hour naps in her crib and is currently taking a cat nap. It just depends.

i was so good about naps the first time around. And pretty good the second, but this time with two older kids I just make sure she doesn't get over tired, and can't stress about exactly when/where she's napping or for how long. Luckily she's super easy going about it. My son was not!

  • Well DS made a liar out of me today. He woke up a little early today and has been down for his first nap for over an hour. He hasn't slept for over an hour during the day in two weeks.

Nice! Mine's been up since 8am and started showing signs of being tired by 9:30. Can't get him to stay down tho! Ugh. He will fall asleep for like 10min then wake up.

So I put the kiddo down for a nap a little bit ago. He was sleepy but awake when he went down. I'm watching him on the monitor and he is still awake but super calm, just hanging out. I'm scratching my head because usually if he's awake in the crib, he is fussing so this is kinda new to me. Do I get him? Leave him as is? I dunno. Feel a bit silly asking!

Edit: He fell asleep on his own and napped for 2.5hrs. Woohoo!

Yay! I was gonna say leave him cause DS will do that at night on some occasions.

Sometimes I'll hear Jackie fuss and go in to give her the pacifier, walk in and see she's laying there wide eyed but quiet. I always stop dead in my tracks and quietly tip toe back out. I'm in trouble once she is a little more aware and can look around for me.

I'm glad he fell asleep on his own. That's the ultimate goal!

  • My son woke up at around 7:45am this morning and I put him down for his morning nap at 9am. Two hours later and he is still sleeping, awesome! I usually head back to bed for his first nap knowing that it will only last about 45min to an hour. Imagine my surprise when I woke up a few mins ago and checked the clock.

Lol I got the opposite today.  Preston woke up around 8 and took a cat nap for 30 min at 9 and has been awake ever since.  DH is home today cause I'm sick and he's trying to out him down for a nap before he gets too fussy and it's 11:45.

A double whammy, I'm sorry you're still feeling sick! Bad cold or something else? Were you able to enjoy your date night at least?

I'm glad your husband could be home to give you a hand, hopefully that will help speed up your recovery!

Damien is on a roll today. I was washing a couple of dishes and chatting with him as he watched from his Boppy Lounger when he started to fuss a little. A minute later he was passed out. I was able to move him into the nursery without issue too. Sleeping like...a rock ("sleeping like a baby" is such a load of bs).
