TTC after 35

TWW - Week of Aug 1-7

Forgive me @PoeMasque - hope I'm not stepping on your toes by posting this...I didn't see one for last week so I thought perhaps you were occupied with other duties.  Hope to see you around here soon!  Maybe you are/were on vacation like I was?

Tell us how many DPO you are, what you're doing/not doing this month, when/if you'll test, and symptoms that have you wondering if this is THE month! If you haven't already made a separate intro, please first do so in a separate discussion thread so we can get to know you! Good luck!

Hello!  Thanks for posting - it's nice to see more activity over here :)

Month/Cycle:  2/2 (I'll be 39 in a couple of months, just got married in June, and ttc #1)

    CD/DPO:  22/7

WAYDTGKU:  Started paying more attention this cycle, including temping, recording CM, OPKs - instead of just charting AF (apparently missed O by a couple of days in June - was later than FF/I anticipated).  PNVs, ubiquinol, fish oil, inositol if I remember, reducing caffeine, HIO EOD during FW...

Testing:  Only if AF is late!

Q:  Since it's my first time putting more info into FF, what does the day this month that's white with a pink border mean on my FF calendar?

Also, what's a good discount for VIP FF?  Thanks!

  • I'm CD 18/5-6 DPO.

I'm taking Clomid for the second cycle and have noticed sore nipples around/after O so I can't expect that as a possible sign of BFP.  I also have gotten a few bad headaches/migraines around/after O, today being one of them.   I just use OPKs and chart AF.  Taking prenatals and CoQ10.  We BD'd daily throughout our vacation last week which was also right when I O'd, so we really did our best this cycle with trying.  AND we were relaxed and it was much more natural.

I also will only test if AF is late.

I decided instead of wondering/trying to talk about what next option we are going to try (IUI/IVF) since H won't talk about his thoughts on it, that I'm staying focused on the present cycle and staying positive because we did all we could and we were in a positive frame of mind.

Good luck to you @artemis618!  I do not use FF so not sure about that.

  • I have whined about this a few times already but this cycle is super weird.  I think I am CD 17 and ovulated very early so maybe around 10 DPO.  I seriously can't wait for this cycle to be over bc I have no idea what is going on.  I did a blood test right before a schedule HSG on CD 9 that I had already ovulated.  Nurse at the fertility clinic seems to think it was bc of a cyst they saw on the u/s.  I just want to start all over.  We barely had a chance to bd and O had already come and gone.  I might test tomorrow to punish myself.

@artemis618 I think this question was answered for you on the TTGP board but just in case the white date with the pink border is the recommended testing date.
History and blog link in spoiler
2016 - dx with super low ovarian reserve; failed cycle with clomid, failed IUI,
    2017 - egg retrieval #1 - 3 eggs, 0 embryos appropriate for transfer; ER #2 2 eggs, 0 embryos on day 3; ER #3 1 egg 0 embryos
moved to donor egg in summer 2017; 35 eggs retrieved; 19 fertilized; 9 total embryos
Fresh transfer Dec 2017= BFP!  baby boy born 8/22/18

May 2019 - surprise natural pregnancy ended in MC
Nov 2019 FET; MC at 9 weeks
    May 2020 FET; BFN
July 2020 FET; CP treated with methotrexate
    Oct 2020 BFP!

  • @laurad75 - I can totally relate to missing the boat...the first month we went to the RE for O confirmation showed I had already O'd, and we barely even started BD.  I'm still sending good vibes your way that maybe it's not a total loss???!!!

Hiya! CD21. So this is first cycle I used OPK (clear blue adv digital) - I started testing a little late, so the OPK could only tell me "peak" fertility days, not "high" fertility days (there was a earlier thread on this, and actually called CB customer service that confirmed you can still test for peak fertility days even if you start OPK late). We BD'd at least 3-4 times during FW, so we'll see. Oddly I noticed my boobs felt full and tender during O - seems like that just recently started happening, wondering if that's a 35+ age thing, or I'm just a lot more observant. Yesterday, I randomly felt super nauseous for like 2 minutes, then extremely tired. If I were feeling these symptoms like a week from now, I'd be so excited, but know it's waaaaaay too early to SS, so I guess I'll chalk it up to maybe something I ate or a bug I'm fighting off...ugh! my body loves to mess with my mind.

FX for all you other TWW'ers! @jennh75B kudos to staying present and positive, sometimes a vacation is just what we need!

  • TW:  loss mentioned

I'm at 6 DPO, so it's early days over here, although the 8 DPO crazies will arrive soon!  We had decent timing this month, especially since OH works out of town and my regulary bi-weekly visit did not coincide with FW (although I did make a quick trip out there last week to get one last one in!).  We managed -4, -3, and 0.  I've been doing the regular TTC stuff, as well as CoQ10, B6, Mucinex and green tea in the FW, RRL tea, etc.  Oh, and I haven't mentioned this recently in TTGP because I honestly forget about it, but for the past three cycles, including the cycle I had my CP, I've been experimenting with Instead menstrual cups in the FW.  I figure it can't hurt, and I want to try anything that's reasonable!

  • @jennh75b thank you for picking up the baton! Summer camping and the never ending reno on our house forced me to take a bit of a break on here, glad to see its picking up!

Keeping my fx for everyone on here (yay for great BD on vacay @jennh75b). @Lu19 the last three cycles I've had CRAZY sore boobs with burning nipples from O day till AF! Never had that before and hoping it's not my new norm (and why suddenly is it happening?!?)

    I'm CD 20/7DPO

timing was was slightly better than the last two months (-2, O), but still less than ideal. I O'd way earlier than predicted, so that threw a wrench in things.

Im pretty resigned to the fact that after 10 months of all BFNs, we will need meds/intervention to get pregnant, which has actually made BD and the TWW much less stressful.

  • @ahrains LOL, thanks!  We did work hard to get it, with him working out of town...but to be honest, we usually get at least 2 times in FW.  It's getting hard to be optimistic, but at least it won't be for lack of trying.  I'm very lucky, too, that we've always had an active sex life.  As long as I do what I usually do so that it doesn't stop being sexy/fun, he seems to handle it.  I think as soon as I try to schedule stuff, he would probably have a much more difficult time.

  • Interesting - this is my first cycle tracking anything other than AF (temping, Wondfo OPKs, CM when I remember) and I just recently paid up for the VIP FF on a promo since the app is pretty handy).  Since it doesn't have enough information, FF is telling is telling me to test 18 DPO or August 13.  It's also telling me that AF is due August 9.  I guess I'll learn more about my luteal phase too!

Coincidentally, FF also thinks that if we did get KU this cycle that the due date would be DH's birthday next year.

@artemis618 the first month I used OPKs with FF it gave me this crazy long wait to test too. It was much farther out that AFs projected arrival. The next month it was 12dpo. Don't know why it does that. Haha

Edited in an attempt at clarity.

So it's CD2 for me.  I had been grumpy as hell yesterday and the day before, and I got a nasty surprise from AF late yesterday morning.  At first I thought I had only had a 7 day LP and lost my ever loving mind about it yesterday afternoon.  But as I was getting ready for bed last night, I remembered how my EWCM had been around CD11, and I didn't see any after, just watery for a couple of days.  Also, my temps had looked like I had O'd on CD12, until I had a couple of days of really low temps, then a big spike that gave me crosshairs for CD16.  The more I think about it, the more I think I O'd earlier, and that those weirdly low temps, that I got in a hotel while visiting OH (the same happened in my March cycle and threw me off...still not positive when I O'd then, either), messed up FF.  If I'm right, and I O'd on CD12, that gives me an 11 day LP.  God, I hope I'm right.

    Charting is hard.

It's Friday and you definitely hurt my brain @Aurora1973, but I think you may be correct with the CM as a sign of O.  I thought I O'd later like CD 16-18 based on temps (that were not true BBT, but consistently taken nonetheless), but then when I got the OPK to work for me correctly, and the RE confirmed, I was O'ing when I first had the EWCM around CD 13-14, although for some reason I never noticed the EWCM until I started seeing an RE.  I knew about tracking that as a sign of O, but I never really had it that obviously before.  And yeah, I only get it for a day or two and then it's more watery.

@PoeMasque  - yeah, I know, it even threw my RE off that I have such a long luteal phase.  That's why she agreed with me when I first met her and thought I O'd on 16-18.  But all confirmations are consistent that I O 13-14.

OT from TWW - everyone talks about FF as the app they use.  I've been using Ovuview (I think it's droid only) since I started TTC.  I'm wondering if I should take a look into FF?  Will it really give me any more insight than I already have with what I've learned at the RE?  I consistently O CD 13-14, for many months it's been confirmed, so what more could I possibly get out of this?  I mean, I know we are BDing when we need to, so is there really any more benefit than that in a tracker?

****Edit for update*** I just downloaded FF and entered in AF info from March until now.  It's telling me AF is due on the 12th instead of the 14th.  Now, when I was using Ovuview, it has come on the exact day each month, and that is telling me AF is due the 14th.  I guess time will tell.
