Re: Randoms 8/1

  • Last week, after feeling so down on myself for being so dang frumpy during this pregnancy, I decided to sign up for ipsy. I just got my first bag and I am so, so excited to try everything!
  • Loading the player...
  • @lotsofsunshine I've gotten 2 glam bags from ipsy so far and I'm ashamed to say I haven't used anything. It's not that it's stuff I wouldn't use I just don't think I've worn makeup since I started getting them.

On on another note, I feel so exhausted. It's only 8:30 and I would go to bed right now if DD was already in bed.
  • My DH is leaving for a work trip tomorrow until Monday. Please stay baby and let me survive the weekend. I'm currently 37w3d.

Apparently DD and I are staying at my inlaws (yay, AC) ...and that's cool but I feel like I have so much to do at home. I haven't had a day off since June. Hopefully I can convince my inlaws to come organize my house and put together some baby things.
My husband is gone this weekend too, and he is taking DS with him to visit family! I really hope baby stays put (currently 38w) so I can enjoy some much needed alone/down time. I'm a SAHM to my 2.5yo so I rarely get breaks!

If I do go into labor, my DH would not be able to get back in time. So I'm trying not to picture that scenario.

That is so great to get some alone time. I'm jealous of that! Doing anything fun or indulgent??
  • @midwestbaby

    Love that scenario! Enjoy!
  • @AliKay20

    At least you can laugh?

This is what I try to remind myself that no matter how uncomfortable I am, to enjoy it. Once baby comes-sleep deprivation and caring for a newborn are beyond full time jobs. It sucks the life right out of you.
  • Good luck tomorrow, @cal031686 !
  • Somehow I've managed to get a cold. My throat is scratchy and I keep coughing. Ugh.
  • @Katm89 thanks! A nurse at my last doctors appointment mentioned that there were cases in NC as well. She said it only affects women in their first trimester but to still take precautions. I was looking it up and it seems that it's just now barely moving into Miami.
  • @Katm89 This is so scary to me, and I'm in CT too, but close to the city so I feel like I'm surrounded! I just want this baby out so I can stop freaking out about every little bug I see.

  • At least for us, we're at the very end of our pregnancies. Our healthy babies should all be born by the time this zika thing gets really bad here.
  • I thought the only mosquito contracted Zika in the us so far is in Miami?  The rest are people who travelled or transmitted from people who travelled.

This is what I heard, as well.  There may be ppl in other places that got it but not from native mosquitoes.

  • I'm in CT and haven't heard anything about the native mosquitos, but yeah I'm thankful our babies are fully developed! I hope by child #2 this is al figured out!
  • Btw, I'm glad at least one being in our household is enjoying some relaxation at the end of my pregnancy. I just want to be done working, and instead I'm jealous of my dog.

Going to get pedicures with my MIL, actually, speaking of pedicures. She gifted me a pedicure/brunch date for my birthday for the date of my choosing. We actually get along really well and I like hanging out with her -- I know many of you can't imagine enjoying that scenario with your MILs so I feel really lucky!  Other than that, NOTHING. A few projects I'd like to get done but I imagine a whole lot of reading (I'm a huge book nerd) and lots of Netflix time for me, yay!

My DH would have a hard time getting back in time too (he will be 6+ hours away) so I'm just praying it doesn't happen. I was actually awake for a few hours last night with some anxiety and imaginary contractions, LOL. I was induced at 41w1d with DS so I'm consoling myself with that.

  • I think is just the news trying to blow the ZIKA virus because apparently it is here in Iowa as well, Doctor told me not to worry about it. I still protect myself with repellent just in case
  • @tisunge602

That sounds amazing! All of it!
I just got the call from my MIL that AC and a wifi booster are all set up in the guest room along with what food there is. Feeling pampered all ready. I'm glad to be able to relax. I'm sure I'll have plenty of couch time with my kindle and laptop.

I agree. Trying not to stress about going into labor. My husband packed me pee pee pads (puppy training pads) to sleep on since my water broke in bed last time. Ah!
  • I asked DH if he wanted his own dad bag for a diaper bag once this little one goes to daycare. He said he would just use the one I got. The thing is I will be dropping her off in the afternoon and he would be picking her up in the evening (opposite shifts). I was planning on using mine as a diaper bag/purse. Are any of you planning on a separate bag for DH?

11/26/17: Twin A passed after 24 days fighting in the NICU

  • @midwestbaby Yes! We got the black Eddie Bauer diaper bag from target for DH to use and for when we are planning on being out for a while since it holds more. I got a bag from Little Unicorn that looks more like a purse than diaper bag and I am using it as a purse/diaper bag so I don't have to carry around the big one when I'm just running around for a couple hours.
  • I was telling DH about all the babies being born here recently and we were talking about how we have everything ready for when baby gets here but we have some adult things to take care of before next Thursday. DH has a job interview tomorrow, he's doing a side job(he lays floors) on Sunday, and we need to go grocery shopping and get last minute things like batteries for the swing/bouncer, bottles and stuff. While I would love for LO to come anytime, we need him to stay put so that we can have all of our ducks in a row.

@Lynnlove28  I feel the same way. I've been anxious for baby to come but now that I've made it this far I need him to stay put for the next 36 hours.

Tomorrow is payday. I need to take care of the bills, go grocery shopping and pick up my mother in law from the airport. Tomorrow night is my friend's 30th birthday. After that, he can come anytime!

Also, I'm tired of starting every phone conversation. "No, I'm not in labor or had the baby. I was just calling to say hi".
  • I started inserting primrose oil tonight. Curious to see if I have a bigger change in effacement at my appointment next week.
    Pregnancy Ticker

  • Idk how some people get pregnant again after 3-4 months of giving birth. Holy cow. That is asking a lot to my body and my sanity but hey, to each their own.

I've always wondered why people do that on purpose. I can't imagine wanting to go through all of this again right now!
  • @midwestbaby DH got his own but I don't think he ever used it, it's been a dust collector in his closet.  It just want practical to have two or be moving things from one bag to another.  I also started out with a really cute Kate Spade bag, but after a month or so I realized how not practical it was and now have a Skip Hop duo.  It's not the prettiest bag, but its got the pockets and function you need, especially when they're infants.

I've thought this too! I don't even remember much from the time DD was born to about 6 months. Thank goodness for pictures!
  • @kwilliams3402 If I'm remembering right, you were the one that wanted to know about sending the baby to the nursery at night at Seton Main. Just wanted to share that we ended up sending our little guy for 2-3 hours both nights. I felt a little guilty but the nurses were really supportive about it and our pedi recommended it. There were quite a few other babies in the nursery at night as well.

Also, I'd ask to be in a mom and baby room on the second floor. The third floor is basically overflow and it sucked.
  • @AliKay20 it is definitely not easy being pregnant twice in a row without much time in between. Our dd will be 16 months older than this LO. Let me tell you, my body is totally like "I just did all this and I don't want to do it again" lol. Everything hurts more than last time. I don't know much what it's like NOT to be pregnant at this point.
  • @AliKay20 I'm in the same boat as @jamiesc58. DD and this little guy will be 15 months apart. We actually had a chemical pregnancy the month before this baby too, so we would have been due last month. We knew we wanted two close together and figured we'd try again as soon as we felt ready. I had DD and my hormones went crazy. I was the exact opposite of you. I had a newborn and I wanted another one ASAP. I loved DD from the moment she was born, but felt we still had one missing piece to our family. I went in to my 6 week pp appt asking my Dr. when we could try again and she just shrugged and said 6 months is recommended, but our bodies do amazing things so she wouldn't be too concerned if I came in earlier pregnant again. DH and I both come from families that had very difficult times getting pregnant and carrying babies. We're both only children, but not by our parents choices, so we're pretty excited well be able to have 2 and that they will be so close together.

My body is definitely feeling things differently this time around though. My BH never hurt with DD, but this time some of them are pretty close to real feeling contractions and have been since around 25 weeks. It's usually just one random BH that stops me in my tracks and then it's over.
  • @jamiesc58 I can only imagine! You're almost done (being pregnant) though. ;)  I didn't think much of it when I heard people say their LO's are only a year apart or something but now if someone says that to me, I think I'll give them a hug, lol.

I am still figuring out this routine or lack thereof with baby. I went to bed at 12 AM, woke up at 4 AM to pump, 7 AM to nurse, and 12 PM to start my day.

Holy shitfk. Anyone else feel like this as FTM? I'm dreading going back to work in this state.
