Apologies if strollers have already been brougt up, I tried to search but I'm on mobile and couldn't seem to find something specific to this.
I currently have a 2.5 year old who will be 3 (almost to the day) when this new one comes around. I've been seeing these strollers where the older kid can stand on he back and the little one can sit in the front. Does anyone have this and recommend it? I am assuming my older kiddo will want to run around more than just sit but wanted to get others opinions and thought.

Ok, I don't think that this has been brought up yet (sorry if it did, I didn't see it when I looked back at the threads)...but I'm looking for bath tub recommendations? We don't have large sinks, so it either should be a free-standing tub that we can put on the counter near our kitchen sink, or one that goes in the bathtub. We also don't have a ton of storage space for anything huge....
Also interested in bathtub recs! We have a decent sized kitchen sink, and I think I'd prefer to bathe the baby in the sink as long as possible, mainly because it seems like it would be more comfortable than leaning over the tub. Is that a realistic plan?
@mrshuse525 I have a Joovy sit and stand and like it. I like it a lot more now that he is 3 rather than two. Long walks can be difficult but for a short walk its great.
As far as bathtubs. I actually really don't like bathing LO in the sink. Its just a personal discomfort since I'm paranoid about dropping them, they are so slippery. For sink bathing we had one of those flower things which I do NOT recommend. Takes forever to dry and if you put it in the dryer it picks up lint from everything. I would go with the Puj.
We had the Summer Infant Bath Sling which I like for newborns in the tub. Its cheap, easy and small for storing. It only lasts so long before LO will be too big but I like to get them in the big tub soon anyway.
@ellemf728 Do you think the Puj would work in a bigger sink? (Single basin kitchen sink)
As for bathing, id like to find a way to make the kitchen sink work this time. But with my older two, it was usually easiest if I got in with the baby when they were in between the bath sling age and sitting up reliably.
DD1 (2008) DD2 (2010), #3 (DH's first bio kid) on the way in January 2017! Almost always mobile bumping--forgive my typos.
Our baby hated baths with a passion so I got super lazy and never washed her in the sink or the baby tub. It was easier and quicker for me to just sit myself in the tub and wash her in my lap. The bath sling does store nicely though!
I know we have the thread about feeling baby early but are there any stm who don't feel baby yet? I'm 18 weeks today and don't really feel this baby moving. I felt Owen at 17 weeks. My anxiety is getting the best of me and I'm just biding my time until the next doc appt Friday.
@zdmd_14I'm not sure that it would. From what I understand it is like the Blooming Bath in that it sort of "folds up" and uses the sides of the sink for support. I wouldn't think it would hold
@mrshuse525 so I actually have experience with kickboards for both the Bugaboo Cameleon and the Uppababy Vista. My daughter is 2 and I also watch my nephew who is 1 so I needed both my stroller and my sister's stroller to accommodate 2 children. The kickboard is great but not if you're talking a long walk bc your child will want to sit down at some point. With our Cameleon it only fit one child sitting and one child standing so my daughter couldn't sit down comfortably if she wanted to have a snack, etc in the stroller. The uppababy was great because you can have two seats plus the kickboard so your child can sit down if they no longer want to stand. I guess the main question would be how often do you use the stroller. We use ours all the time because we live in the city, therefore I wouldn't count on using the kickboard in place of a stroller seat for a 3 year old. But if you live in the suburbs and don't use it as frequently or do a bunch of short walks than it might make more sense. Overall I'm definitely glad we have ours bc it's definitely convenient and fun, but I wouldn't use it as a seat replacement.
@adorebella do you know if you have an anterior placenta? I had my a/s last week and they told me I had an anterior placenta and I might not feel the kicks as early since the baby is kicking the placenta.
@adorebella I'm 17 weeks tomorrow with my 2nd and I haven't felt any discernible movement. Sometimes I think I may have felt something, but nothing. With Anthony, I felt him move around 18 weeks or so. I'm with you on the anxiety though! I'm getting really anxious and started begging him/her for some movement. Hopefully soon?
@mrshughes525 we only use a wagon now so my 2 year old can jump in and out and I plan to wear the new baby. My kid would never stand on a joovy. I fear our stroller days are over
@awknyc which of those two strollers would you recommend for a FTM with no plans to have two close together? They're our two front runners and we have NO idea which to choose. Bugaboo's are so popular where we live but uppababy seems great! We live in a city and they fit our lifestyle the best.
Anyone else have experience with Bugaboo or Uppababy?
@awknyc No anterior placenta that I know of, it wasn't noted in my other ultrasounds. That would certainly explain it though.
@vgempis This makes me instantly feel better. As long as I'm not the only one I'm okay lol. Everyday I'm hoping for movement! Will be thinking of both of us this week!
@adorebella I'm two days behind you and JUST started feeling this baby moving. Even then, it's only when I lay down that I can truly tell that's what it is and its still not every day. I felt my first at 19 weeks so I expected to feel this one sooner than this.
@LastMango I wish I had never read that STMs can feel the baby sooner, as soon as 13 weeks. For the past month and a half I've been like "OMG WHERE IS THIS BABY IS IT EVEN IN THERE I CAN'T FEEL IT!!!"
@KRB22 We have a generous sized kitchen sink and my almost 2 year old still fits very comfortably in the kitchen sink! No insert or anything now. I used a cheap plastic infant tub over the sink until she sat up well. **lurking from Feb.17**
@mrshuse525 I am actually struggling with the same question. We are waiting until the new baby arrives to decide what our stroller needs are. We currently have a baby trend jogging stroller and a light weight stroller. I have looked at the sit and stands because my almost 2 year old loves the stroller but I'm afraid it won't be comfortable for him. But we have a few more months before it's an issue and he may want to walk more and just need to ride occasionally so I don't know. They also seem bulkier and harder to maneuver. My jogging stroller is big and drives me nuts in crowded places and stores and I imagine the sit and stand to be similar so I hate to buy a new stroller that we don't use much. I hope to wear babe as much as possible and allow my son to ride and see what we need for strollers when.
@LJ623 We also have the Summer Bath Sling and it worked well because it was compact and easy to store. It didn't last long. My son started out enjoying baths, then went through a very long phase of not liking baths. During that phase, my husband or I would sit in the tub with him to get him bathed or even take him in the shower with us. They are slippery though so this took some practice.
@adorebella I have felt flutters that I'm fairly certain are baby but nothing concrete, I'm 17w2d. I didn't feel my first until after 20 weeks so I can see how it's stressful for you but in my mind, since the uterus tends to grow faster the 2nd time around, I wonder if that gives baby a little more room to move without hitting things so those initial flutters are harder to feel. Just an idea I also think that when you have a toddler running around, you are preoccupied more throughout the day and your mind isn't focusing in on those little flutters. And if baby is sleeping when you are laying still, you may not feel baby yet.
@adorebella I'm only 15 weeks today, but this is my third and I haven't felt anything yet. I thought a couple times I did, then decided that it was too high up and/or gas! I agree with PP that if you have another little one, your time is much more occupied and you may not sit still much with concentrated "feeling the baby move" in mind. Also, since every baby is so different, you could just have a slow little mover in there. My bf was so paranoid when her second was not moving much in her belly compared to her first and the doctor told her that he was just a lazy turtle!
@adorebella I had one other thought. I saw it on another thread. It could be the location of your placenta and/or position of baby in there. From what a poster on another thread said, if baby is rump up and moving hands and feet they are probably hitting the placenta or fluid and not actually any of your body parts. Everything I've seen says it's perfectly normal and what you feel is determined by so many different factors.
@Carly79 that's how I'm going to go about strollers. My daughter is 21 months and really doesn't use the stroller much at all. She prefers to walk/run. I have a city mini gt that I love. Thinking about maybe selling it and getting a city select or Phil & teds but I'm going to hold off and see how things go. I will wear baby most of the time.
@hayhay87 Can I just say I had this exact same struggle when I was pregnant with my first. We ended up buying the Uppababy and I just had buyers remorse so we ended up returning it for the Bugaboo. I absolutely love my Bugaboo, it is super shock absorbent, more so than the Uppababy and it's more narrow, which you wouldn't think an inch or two could make a difference, but it really does in tight spots. Honestly, it also just looks nicer haha if that matters. I can actually provide a fair comparison bc my sister has the Uppababy which I've had to use for the past year to accommodate her baby and mine. The Uppababy basket is huge, that is the only one real advantage, but it's a big one especially if you live in the city. The cup holder sucks, I've spilled one too many ice coffees in the Uppababy. The UB canopy is nice bc it has a peekaboo shade so you can peer into watch your kid without having to open it up. The UB seat belts are not so great either bc they are not completely secure, they can slide out. The snack tray for the Bugaboo is better bc it can be closed and the cup holder is deeper, the Uppababy has a shallow holder with rubber grips that make it more challenging for kids to pull cups out. Another good thing about the UB is that you can transfer your kid to the seat from the bassinet sooner bc there's an infant seat liner that keeps your baby's head in place. Also the rain cover for the UB is so compact and easy to store in the stroller in case it rains, the Bugaboo's is huge and takes up my whole basket.
Honestly there are pros and cons to both, my main con about the Bugaboo is that the basket underneath is so small, but I still love it and don't regret my choice. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions!
@awknyc thanks so much for this!! So so helpful. DH and I are leaning towards the bugaboo mostly for aesthetic reasons (agree with you!), as they seem so similar. The narrow bit could make a huge difference with city living!
If it's okay, I might send you a DM in the future if I have any follow ups
@ElleMF728@awknyc@MrsRahl@Carly79 -- thank you all for the advice/input! We live in the suburbs so I don't use our stroller very much right now unless we are at the zoo. Right now she is pretty good about walking the entire way so I figured it would only get better as she gets older. I'll have to look into the uppababy that you receommended @awknyc because I like that you can do both sitting and standing. I know we will use our stroller a lot more at the beginning once #2 comes around.

We didn't use a stroller much with our first baby. Number 1 and 2 are 14 months apart so we got a ton of use out of our double though! We have continued to use a double with 3 and 4 and we have a cheap umbrella stroller we use for the youngest if we are going somewhere the boys can all walk at.
My husband believes we will be find with our jogging stroller and our lightweight one for when both kids need to ride. He seems to forget that I occasionally go places without him and can't push two strollers at once That adds to why I am waiting to see what we need until after baby gets here.
I have a question for fellow STM or STM+. My son is very attached to me and I am very worried about how the transition is going to go when the new baby arrives. Everyone tells me it's a phase and he'll grow out of it but it's been a long phase so far. He's 20 months and will be just over 2 when baby is born. He follows me around the house and won't let my husband do anything for him, especially if he's tired. If we are walking somewhere he wants me to hold him and not daddy. Some times we tell him that isn't one of his choices, he either walks and holds our hand or is carried by daddy. That usually doesn't go over well but we push through. I'm just struggling because I really am worried about this upcoming transition. Any one have suggestions to help him be more ok with dad doing things or similar situations that want to share how the transition went for you?
I'm sorry if this has been discussed already in another thread (I have a hard time keeping up with some of them), but does anyone have experience with the Chicco Keyfit car seat and caddy stroller? I searched the bump but all the posts that come up are pretty old, so wasn't sure if anyone here has recent experience. My husband and I are hoping to use that for everyday type things and then spend more money on a nice jogging stroller for walking/running around town. Is this practical?
@Carly79 I think the best thing is making sure he still has mommy and him time, but at the same point going forward not doing everything for him. If he wants you to get him a drink and you are busy, you explain "mommy is busy but daddy can help you" and than follow through. Don't allow the fits and tantrums to dictate your behavior with him. If he doesn't want his dad to get it, than he doesn't get a drink. Just using that as an example and obviously still do things for him when you can.
@juliebird6 are you talking about the kind where the infant bucket seat comes out of the car and clicks into a stroller frame? I think the general consensus around here has been that those are the way to go!
@Carly79 Ditto what @ladysaceb said. Help him to not feel pushed aside when the new baby comes or by the pregnancy by making sure you are spending some quality time with just him but don't give into the fits because something isn't his way- that'll make the adjustment harder down the line. Some awesome advice I heard recently was to say to the baby "one moment, Mommy is helping big brother right now" the same way you might end up saying "I'm helping the baby right now and you'll have to wait for a second" to your oldest when you're in the middle of doing something with the baby. Another idea is to maybe give him some extra one on one time with Dad without you around so he can start to get used to the idea of asking Dad for things instead of defaulting to you?
How important is it to have a GLIDER? Everybody talks about gliders this and gliders that, but what about just a lounge chair that rocks?
Also it's been important to me that the chair have a high enough back to support my head when I'm exhausted but is that unwise? (Like fall asleep while nursing dangerous?)
Apologies if strollers have already been brougt up, I tried to search but I'm on mobile and couldn't seem to find something specific to this.
I currently have a 2.5 year old who will be 3 (almost to the day) when this new one comes around. A sit and stand is what you're referring too! Yes, I had one for a while and it was wonderful. If kept my 2 kiddos in one place. As my son got older, I just let him walk wherever we went and used a single stroller for my daughter. He was 4 when we stopped using it. A newborn and 3 year old would be perfect.
@tinabelcher people sung praises to the glider in my circles too but I just used an old wooden rocking chair and it worked fine. But TBH usually nursed and rocked right on our couch or the floor of the nursery for night feedings, leaned up against the crib so I wasn't comfortable enough to fall asleep.
Eta: if you plan on tandem nursing at all I wouldn't get a glider. I'd think it would be too narrow and uncomfortable.
@tinabelcher Personally I'm a HUGE yes for the glider! It wasn't necessary for feeding but it was wonderful for soothing Owen and getting him to sleep. He loved that glide motion, it put him right out every time and then we'd put him in the crib. I'm sure it's a personal preference and if we hadn't had it we wouldn't have known and surely would have figured something else out. But it was nice to have and I still have fond memories of those times with him.
@tinabelcher I wanted nothing to do with getting a traditional nursery glider. I didn't like how they looked and wanted something I could use more than just as baby was little. We ended up getting a chair from Toys R Us (that is technically a glider) but it rocks, swivels, and reclines. The best thing is that the recline function is actually between the cushion and the arm so you don't have to reach down on the outside to open the foot rest. We used this at night religiously. I will caution you, it is tough to stay awake and it is dangerous to fall asleep while holding baby so something to be careful of. But in all honesty, I don't think it mattered where I sat I battled falling asleep. During the day I fed baby wherever comfortable and since I exclusively pumped I had a station set up in the living room where there was an upright comfy chair. Here is a picture of a similar chair to what we got. I love it because we can put it in a family room some day.
ETA: This is wider than traditional gliders too and my husband was comfortable in it. They do make some with taller back or even wider or with ottomans depending what you are looking for.
I think it's extremely helpful to have a chair that rocks, beyond that, I don't think it really matters. I got a La-Z-boy recliner that rocks, has head and lumbar support and foot and head reclining options via wired remote. It's awesome. I think I'll get a second for this one's nursery. When they grow out of it, I'll add it to the great room furniture.
I know this sounds ridiculous but every time the discussion of gliders come up, I imagine some sort of hammock thing that looks like a fully expanded sugar glider that a baby rocks on. I'm an idiot.
For those STMs who had braxton hicks sooner than later, was there ever a time you were worried about them? I feel like I'm having them (super tight abdomen that comes and goes randomly). Basically the past 3 or 4 days, I've been SUPER uncomfortable all the time and I can't tell if it's because of BH or if it's because I popped and I'm just not used to the feeling of my uterus suddenly being freely out there and loose, so to speak. Are there any red flags that would make you call your OB? I'm pretty sure I'm just freaking myself out over nothing but... how would I know.
