Contractions!

Re: Contractions!

  • Finally on our way home.  I'm dilated to a 1, 40% effaced, baby at -3 station.  Also did a test that came back negative for preterm labor.  The contractions didn't get any better, but didn't get any worse either.  They monitored me for several hours and didn't dilate any more, so they're sending me home.  Thanks for the positive thoughts!
Hopefully that was it for a while! My friend unfortunately had contractions that weren't doing much for about a month. It was exhausting for her but it was most important that baby stayed in so they just let them happen because the shot to stop them didn't work. Hopefully you're done until it's the real
    deal!

  • @MamaSquishyB glad to hear you got to head home. Hopefully little one will stay put for a while yet!
  • Scary business for sure! I'm glad you got
to go home, you'll probably be more
comfortable there. Tell that baby he/she needs to cook longer!!

  • The medication they gave me last night didn't stop the contractions, and I'm still having them this morning,  looks like I'm going to be dealing with them for the duration!  It makes me wonder now how I'll tell the difference between these and real labor, because these are very regular.
  • Fingers crossed that baby stays in just a little longer.  34 weeks is a little early, but at least you went in and are in the right place.  Try to rest as much as you can and keep us posted as possible.
  • I've been having the same thing. I never went to L&D because I wasn't having pain/pressure. I searched dr. google and apparently it could be prodromal labor. Some women have it days or weeks before delivery. Fun stuff!

  • MamaSquishyB so glad you went in to get checked, and that you are back at home. :)

  • @MamaSquishyB I went into L&D twice with my first and luckily the contractions stopped.  When I finally went into actual labor the contractions were about the same as the other two times, so I tried the method of going for a walk... have you heard of this?  If you are having contractions and go for a walk and the contractions get worse, it's the real deal!  If they go away during the walk then it was a false alarm.  Well, the other thing that happened when I was walking was the sudden urge to puke and poop my pants at the same time!  Glad I was close to home at that point!  When I called L&D and told them that detail, they said that it was the real thing for sure and to come in!  So that was the way I was able to tell between false labor and real labor... poop and puke.  haha!
