Nursing mamas

Just saw a post about sore boobs... Mine were the first time but not painful at all the time. I've wondering if it's because I just stopped nursing (literally.. I stopped nursing and I think I ovulated the next day.. 1 day of my body to myself!)

Anyways, curious if because you're still nursing you haven't been sore or if maybe I'm just dodging a bullet here.
For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him.

Re: Nursing mamas

  • I am definitely still nursing my one year olds and have avoided being sore.  I don't normally have any symptoms while pregnant thank bgoodness but I was worried that because I am still nursing I would have sore boobs just bc it seems like that SHOULD be the case lol but that hasn't been the case as of yet but I don't know if it's related to me still nursing.

  • My boobs were extremely tender and sore my first pregnancy and grew first trimester.  My second pregnancy I was still nursing my DD and my boobs never got sore.  They did eventually get bigger later in my pregnancy.  My DD weaned herself when I was still in first tri.

This pregnancy my boobs are tiny and not sore at all yet either.  My DS was almost weaned when I got pregnant and has not nursed the last week (he's 20 months).  My milk seems almost dry but no soreness yet!
  • @MK1013 I totally feel you! ... I chose to stop nursing because my periods were going crazy (I'm talking like showed up 9 months postpartum.. then at 11 months.. then every 2 weeks for about 2 months) and we knew we wanted to start trying. Thankfully my son transitioned fine which made it easier.

If I really think about it, I get sad.. or when he falls hard, I just want to nurse him! I just transitioned him to a cup instead of a bottle, too and it makes me feel like he is growing up so quickly and I want to savor this time when he's my only baby... Pregnancy hormones not helping here!! :'(

  • DS is 18 months and I'm still nursing. Just yesterday my nipples started getting sore, but that's it. I'm hoping that's all that happens since I don't want to stop him. I have a feeling he's going to wean himself in the next few months. I think my milk changed cause he doesn't nurse as long anymore but I still have plenty of milk.
  • Still nursing and haven't been sore.i am pretty sure that year of EPing I did with my daughter ruined me.

Side note: this pregnancy has one side almost completely dried up now. DD is not happy about it and part of me feels a twinge of sadness, though I'm ready to be done...
My right side is pretty sparse, though the left us still going strong. Poor baby will pull my right breastout of his mouth and shake his head!

I haven't had soreness either. My boob changes include:
    - being and to feel let down for the first time
    - sensitive nipples
    - supply drop on right side

It's so aggravating but so nice to have such a really available soothing tool.

  • Still nursing an 11mo old.  And yeah, no noticeable boob soreness. I wasn't sure if maybe I just don't notice it anymore because BFing was so painful at times pregnancy breast changes seem nothing in comparison?

I think a lot of breast soreness n pregnancy is because of increased blood flow.....but maybe we already have an increased blood flow? Or maybe soreness is caused by progesterone, which is kind of like the enemy of prolactin, so maybe that also mitigates that symptom? In just making this up spitballing, but it seems to be a really common lack of symptom.
