New week coming up ladies. What are your goals, questions for other healthy/active moms, hurdles you have overcome, recipes you have fallen in love with, etc.
I started a plank challenge last Sunday and have been sticking with it. Did not work out on the elliptical at all. Went back to work in the evenings and that threw off my schedule so I struggled to fit it in. Plan on getting 20-30 minutes in tonight to set the stage (hopefully) for getting it done the rest of the week. Have to work on time management! Also want to focus on water intake and calorie counting this week. Husbands family is having their reunion this weekend and I want to feel nice in my new outfit for it (and earn the sangria I plan on drinking!).
I wanna get fit but it's just so hot out and the only time I have to work out is when I'm home with DS. Evenings get busy around here as it is and I want DH to start working out as well. Cardio won't work well for me but maybe lifting weights? Idk
@adiaz132003 weights out even one of those challenges. I like the plank challenge and the squat challenge (still don't want to do squats yet. Afraid stuff might fall out. Would do lunge challenge though!) Do you wear him in a wrap? I was reading about doing lunges with baby wrapped on you for both a lower body workout and core workout. I plan on trying that when I feel more comfortable wearing her and take it slow. Also, it you just feel like moving, turn on some music and dance with baby in your arms. Do it for 30 minutes and it is a cardio plus an arm exercise (these babies are getting heavy!)
This week I'm going to start watching what I eat. Not a strict diet really, just being really careful with food choices. I'm at the point where my hips are almost back to their proper place, so I need to get rid of the loos tummy. If I get cleared tomorrow at my six week I'll also be doing Pilates and squats,
i I feel like it's harder on my body the third time around. With the first two it wasn't so hard to get back to my usual self.
Last night with my husband in charge of her I got my 30 minute on the elliptical in! It was harder today by myself. She was asleep on me so I put her in the pnp in our room so I could change clothes and she stayed asleep (woo hoo!) Got 15 minutes on the elliptical done then got nervous (I still check on her often when she is sleeping!) so I moved her back by me and continued working out. She rested in her rnp and watched for awhile then started fussing. Got 27 total minutes in and called it a win!! Relieved that I don't have to figure out how to get it in tonight after work and super pumped I'm on a two day spree!!!(with a newborn, it's the little gains that count!)

That's awesome. Glad she stayed asleep for a little while.
Here's a question. I wanna get into cardio but I have a little issue. My heart rate jumps really high fast. For example I was at the gym once with my mom and she noticed my heart rate on the treadmill said about 210-220. She kinda freaked and told me to stop. She was a nurse and told me that was waaaaay too high. I was just jogging for like 10 min. While pg I got on her treadmill at her house just to walk slow and even at a slow stroll I was at 110 walking at like 2 mph if that. Any suggestions? Should I be seeing a dr about this or do I just start by walking daily to get my heart in better shape? Edit: spelling
@adiaz132003 I know my heart rate was high during pregnancy (at one early prenatal visit my resting heart rate was 135 and the doc thought they meant it was babies heart rate).
I think if I were you i would make an appointment to see a doc and just get things checked out first before starting Exercise. Just to be safe.
@June2016BabyW way to go on two days in a row! It's so tricky to get a workout in while home alone with the baby. If I time it to start right when S goes down for a nap, I know I'll have time to work out, but then I may not get a chance to shower for the next few hours. It's hard to make time for everything.
@adiaz132003 I don't really trust any of the monitors on workout equipment, but I would check in with a doctor and get a more official reading if it's a concern. In the meantime, I would thinking walking would be okay, as long as you're paying attention to how you feel. Everything I've read about running/jogging says that if you would be able to carry on a conversation, then you're at a good sustainable pace. That's always my point of reference for knowing how hard I'm working.
I got another run in yesterday. I'm starting to feel more comfortable, but it takes me a good 15 or 20 minutes of warming up to feel like I'm back to my normal gait. We're leaving town on Thursday to visit family for the weekend, so my goal is to workout a couple more times before we leave. I'll take some running clothes with me, but who knows whether I'll make time to exercise while we're out of town.

I have a naturally high heart rate that is generally in the 80-100 bpm range while resting. When I work out it jumps very quickly to 160-180. I generally start to feel super gross, light-headed and nauseous, if it is truly getting too high. Did you feel sick at all? I honestly have found that mine only gets better the more cardio conditioning I do. I cannot imagine what mine will be like when I get back into it. Right now I want to die doing the three flights of stairs at the parking garage. That being said, I am hoping to start lap swimming at the gym again. I found that this was really good cardio and strength training in one. Plus it promotes good breathing. I bought some new suits this last weekend just for the occasion...now I just have to get there! They have free daycare if I need it, so that is a bonus.
Has anyone used a gym daycare before while babies were this young? My husband is military and deploying soon and so he cannot watch her while I work out so I was thinking of joining a gym with a daycare in it. I'm nervous leaving her in a gym daycare, I was thinking golds gym in particular. Thoughts?

For me it would depend on the gym and the set up but I probably would. I would ask to tour the daycare and ask them questions about how will you be notified if baby needs you (some places give you pagers, some call you overhead), are there screens throughout the facility where you can see the baby (my gym has tv screens where I can peer up and check on baby if I left her there), and how do they make sure only you can take baby back out of the facility. My SIL loved her gym daycare because it was included in her fees so she could take her son in there for two hours, workout, shower, drink a cup of coffee, etc all while baby was getting "free" childcare.
Gold's is a big brand so I assume they would have certified people working in the child care center. So if you tour it and like it, go for it! I think my gym wants them to be a minimum 8 weeks before they can come in to the childcare center. Which is also good to make sure baby has gotten their first dose of vaccinations (since you don't know if other parents have vaccinated their kids).

I have my 6 week appointment this afternoon, so hopefully I get cleared for more activity.
