  • That ice cream cake I mentioned in the UO thread... I'm having a slice for breakfast.
I'm a January baby and I used to request ice cream cake for my birthday.  My mom thought I was nuts but that shit is the bomb!! I buy it for shits and giggles now and get mad at people that pick it apart lol

  • @allytheKid I love Usher, now I'm having unfaithful thoughts thanks to you hahaha

@LauraPCOS I so much envy you right now, my stomach doesn't seem to like the food I'm eating... Its just gross, still is end of month, can't call in sick today or Monday :(

  • I almost called in sick today because I just can't today. But I came in so I didn't use a day. I'm not doing a damn thing but looking at the news and stalking my registries.  ;)

  • @LauraPCOS I'm so jealous. I consider calling in almost every day, but they've enforced a stupid policy at work where you have to have a doctors note for same day call ins. So I don't get to play hooky. Lol

I had a confession yesterday and now I can't remember what it was!

@krzyriver That sucks! What kind of work do you do? I'm lucky, I don't even have to call my boss. I could totally just send an email to the team (including my cool boss) saying I'm not well and I'm staying home. No questions asked.

@LauraPCOS I'm "planning" a sick day for a few weeks from now when my husband is out of the country. I'll take DS to the sitter and then go straight back home and nap all day. I'm going to be exhausted doing everything around the house + having full responsibility of a toddler for 10 days, so a day off will be necessary. I've been looking forward to it for weeks already. ;-)

  • I'm the same way with calling out as @F47. I just shoot a text to my boss that says I'm using a personal day and that's that. I called out Tuesday because I just couldn't adult.

  • +1 for wanting to call out today but 5 people are on vacation, including the director so I have to go in so they don't have to scramble for someone to cover my shift. But. I. Just. Don't. Want. To.

  • @F47 I actually work in a nail salon. Lol. We used to be self-employed, but too many girls felt like they could come and go as they pleased, which doesn't work for a busy salon that is fully booked all summer. So they made us employees and cracked down real hard. Which sucks for those of us who've been around for years and who realize that we're benefitting from the salon's clientele. But I was working in a nursing home for the last year and had to quit when I got pregnant. I'll probably go back after baby comes. So I'm trying to enjoy my last few months here. I've worked on and off here for about 5 years and probably won't ever be back. But the strict rules are making it hard to enjoy. Lol

I'm about at the point where I wish I had the ability to turn down having dr appts.

I think the advances in medicine are absolutely amazing and I am for medical intervention when necessary. I hope no one misinterprets this as being ungrateful for those things. But I, personally, am burned out from the appts.
    +1

I feel I like take off work and drive 35 minutes out of my way just to pee in a damn cup. My appointments have literally been 5 minutes long, tops.

Doc: "How are you? Any problems?"
    Me: "Nope, everything's great."
Doc: "Okay, good... See you next time!"

    :|:|:|
Mine too. My MIL and step MIL always want me to call and "update" them after every. Single. Appointment. There is nothing to say!
  • I think the only thing that makes it worth the 5 minute appointments is that I get to hear his heartbeat.  I know he's well cause he's kicking like crazy all the time, but I still like hearing it, and I had to stop myself from buying a dobbler earlier in my pregnancy, so these appointments and ultrasounds are the only times.

    Another +1

My doctor's office is 30 minutes from my house and over an hour from where I work. So i have to take at least a half day for an appointment. Apparently my chart now says, "boring pregnancy" on the front so they know it will be quick unless I bring something up.

Another +1 ... luckily my doctors office is open on Saturdays, because I'd be so mad if I have to keep using my paid time to leave for 5 min appointments. He said that I'm one of the easier patience. I really don't have any important issues or questions yet. I'm sure I'll be asking a lot once I get closer to my due date! And I agree with you @LauraPCOS ... I still get excited to hear his heartbeat. So it's worth the 5 min appointment.

  • I scroll through all the birth announcements in my spare time and I am just OVER people saying that they are "so in love" and so in so is "breasfeeding like a champ."

I don't care that this is stupid because obviously these moms just had a baby and are filled with feelings and we will all be in this boat in a couple months, BUT there have got to be some other ways to declare your love and your baby's breastfeeding skills.

Also--if you didn't notice everyone says these things in their birth posts, you now won't be able to stop seeing it.

I did notice this but it doesn't bother me so much. I keep telling H that I'm obsessed with LO because that's just the best way I know to describe it. Obviously, I'm in love with him but I'm seriously obsessed. lol

  • Every. Single. Day. I think about calling in, but I really want to save all my time for maternity leave and I can totally hear my dad in my head saying, "work is good for you." I honestly can not EVER remember him calling off work and I've definitely got his work ethic so I would feel like such a fraud calling in if I wasn't legitimately sick.
  • I do NOT think the lady in this video is a compete lunatic. I kind of agree with her lol...Stay out of the shark's house!

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=boV0t-riFuw

Also, everyone had to get out of the water today because they spotted two sharks. Eek!
  • SO got me an Apple watch for our anniversary yesterday.  I do not need Apple watch nor do I really want one. I feel like such an ass. I don't know how to tell him without hurts his feelings, but I don't want the money he spent to just sit on the bedside table.
  • The only reason I don't mind the constant appts is because they're small mile markers to look forward to. So instead of "2 more months till my due date," it's "1 week till my next appt."

This is me. If I didn't live and work such a small distance from the office though, I could see where going this often would get tough.

  • @bnsmith85 @annabenanna I've had a ridiculous shark phobia ever since I was a kid. I say ridiculous cause it's so over the top. Like I can't even be in a pool by myself because my over active imagination freaks me out. Which is weird because I used to love the water. I don't know what triggered it, but I feel silly. I'm afraid of the dark because of my overactive imagination too. Lol

  • @krzyriver I had a phobia of being alone in a pool for a while too!!! Mine was directly related to watching Are You Afraid of the Dark when I was little though. There was an episode where people would just get pulled under randomly.
  • Eh. This is how I feel about sharks. They're everywhere. The likelihood of getting bit is fairly low with as many people that enter the ocean every year. I'm way more afraid of stingrays. I don't personally know anyone who has been bitten by a shark, but I know 3 people who have been hit by a sting ray! I'm still a pool girl myself, but sharks are not my first fear. They fall behind stingrays and rip currents because I'm not a strong swimmer.

  • Bwahahahahaa @LauraPCOS.  I follow this fitness pregnant mama on instagram, and she looks amaze-balls, but does duck faces...and because of that, I had to unfollow.

@krzyriver @SpaceBurger, kind of related, kind of not... but I would always get so scared when I smelled pool chlorine water.  Wish it was because of something supernatural----but NO.  It triggers a memory of when I was 5 and for my first day of swimming lessons, the instructor threw me in the deep end of the pool to see how I'd do.  Naturally I clung to dear life in between sobs, He pulled me out and told me to stop crying, but then I didn't stop crying, so he threw me in again---- more sobs.  So finally he was like "are you still gonna cry?"  I knew he'd keep throwing me in, so I said I would stop crying.

My mom pulled me out of that swim class, but the damage was done.  I was enrolled in a different swim class that summer, but I'd have a mini-cry session in the car before getting out every time we had to go to the pool that summer.
  • Holy crap @annabenanna ! That's an insane swim teacher. What the heck

  • @annabenanna, my family learned how to swim that way... but more like this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0mUPr68x2

Maybe your instructor was going for that but didn't quite get there... it was really effective but I can't remember the name of the type of teaching it is.

  • @annabenanna That is terrifying! I didn't learn to swim til I was 13 cause I was so scared to put my head under. I would have been done forever if a teacher had done that to me! I'm planning to put my kids in lessons ASAP.
  • I'm among friends @annabenanna and @krzyriver! I won't get in the ocean past my knees bc of my irrational fear of sharks... Unless I have to pee :# Also, Anna, I would have DIED if I had seen a great white. Like pick me up off the ground. Omg

@Sprinkels28 - just tell him how much you appreciate the effort he put into the gift but would really love to use the money to get X. I'm a firm believer in the fact that you buy gifts for people because you want to make them happy. If that means something else makes them happier, so be it. For my H and I, if we don't love a gift, we take it back. No hard feelings. It's only happened once for each of us, but now he loves the gift I got him... Even if I wiffed the first go round and he needed to do some swapping :)

@MRSCORKER... How exciting for your friend! That is awesome!

this is my philosophy.  I want people to have something they love instead of thinking of me every time they see whatever I got them in the back of the closet during spring cleaning ;) H doesn't- he thinks I spent time and thought into getting it, so he should keep it, no matter what. No! It makes me happier for you to have something you want.
