I teach special education preschool so I use Scholastic for work and they have great baby board books too! If you have kids already, sign up online with their teacher and you can see the baby books online!

Some of my favorites I'll be getting for the little guy for now and as he grows
    - The Very Hungry Caterpillar
    - Pete the Cat (the series is great!)
    - Guess How Much I Love You
    - Giraffes Can't Dance
    - The Pout Pout Fish (series)
    - Classic Nursery Rhyme Books
    - Eric Carle books
    - First 100 Words
    - Old McDonald (finger puppet book)

I have more but I can't remember them all! And I know I want to buy recordable books so he can eventually press the button and listen to mine or my husband's voice reading it!

  • We had a shower yesterday and when my stepmom sent out the invites she requested books with notes written in them instead of cards. We received a stack of great books and they all have sweet notes from our loved ones.
I requested the same thing. I can't wait to see what I get!

Yes to the Pigeon books (Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, Duckling Gets a Cookie, etc...)! DD and I love them.

Also, if you're into having interactive books on your phone or tablet, Sandra Boynton's books are available (at least for iPad/Phone, we don't have anything Android) and they are awesome. Everything on the screen is interactive, and it can read to you or you can read it. They are so much fun, DD is 7 and we still read them on her iPad.

I loved having board books for DD when she was little. I knew I could throw them in the diaper bag and not worry about their condition. We actually had Goodnight Moon in board and by the time she was like 2 1/2 we all had it memorized.

We used a tutorial like this https://raisingolives.com/2009/07/raingutter-book-shelves-tutorial/ for her books when she was little too, down low where she could reach it. It was nice for her to see the covers of the books before she could read.

Edited cause I forgot stuff lol.

  • OMG, I just discovered the BabyLit series, and I think I'm in love and I MUST HAVE ALL OF THEM.  Or rather, baby must. :)
  • @annabenanna Yes! They are so cute! DS likes their AllAboard series more than the "classic" ones, probably because they have a little more to them (the classics are basically 1-2 words per page). They pop up on baby.steals.com or groupon from time to time; they'll let you know any deals if you follow their Instagram page.
  • @kmvisioli thank you for the tip!  Gonna register for the AllAboard series too, and follow them on IG. :)  They are such beautiful books!  I think the Dracula one is a must have (and the Frankenstein one too) for an October Halloween baby. :)
  • My cousin bought us partly from the registry and partly off - but I don't mind because she got us two sets of four each Sandra Boynton board books, which I have seen lauded here (plus I trust her taste). I'm happy because I have some books for older children but nothing for really little ones.

  • I purchased some really fun books from Usborne today. I've looked at the books online before but had an opportunity to see them in person today and they were really cute. There was a buy 4 get one free deal so that's what I did. My favorite is the All Better book. It has reusable "bandaids" that you stick on the animals when the get hurt throughout the book. https://myubam.com/p/4503/all-better
