  • My TW is this conference. When I called Sunday they said I wouldn't have to walk more than 1 block + 1 floor of stairs each way. That was ok with doc. Well its almost 3 blocks from my dorm room to the SUB, where everything is held, and its 2 flights of stairs up to our stuff. Meals are on the first floor, and there is no elevator in the building working.

  • This week it's my doctor. I had some concerns about pica, swelling, high pulse, and itching, and she was super dismissive of all of them. She gave me advice, but she just had that "really, you're worried about that?" tone/look. I know I'm a FTM, but cut me some slack. I have a lot of medical issues, so I think that gives me the right to be a tiny bit paranoid.

I felt so stupid telling her about my pica. She made it seem like it was the weirdest thing ever. Gee, thanks, I didn't realize wanting to chew on sponges sounded strange. *eye roll* She's not usually like that so I think she was just having a bad day. Oh well.

  • I think I am always a TW, ha. This week goes to me as well (today anyway). I totally spaced having something at work reviewed by a couple areas before going back to where it came from to be completed. So, I got it completed and now am getting what needs to be done reviewed and covering my butt with my own error. I can't blame it on PG brain, but just pure stupidity.  And, originally, I should have just gone in the direction that helped the customer instead of laying down the law and sticking to policy, as it was up to me - and this all would have been avoided.

And it doesn't help that I leave early for my doctor's appointments today, so they have 2 hours to get back to me, and I pray with no questions to make the matter worse.

@em01092 why would she dismiss your pica symptoms??? Maybe you should call back and talk to a nurse at your OBs office......give your OB another chance to respond appropriately! How rude.

My TW is today (or me). For some reason I am in a dark cloud today. I don't want to be here but I need to save my PTO I've already burned through 4 weeks and the year is only halfway over! (I will need a week for maternity leave before disability kicks in and I'd like to roll over my last week to 2017.) PLUS, I have a meeting with HR at 3 p.m. to talk about my individual development plan, which is being used to gauge my participation in a leadership development plan. I put no effort into making it because typically it doesn't mean anything. So trying to figure out how to explain that.

Other things that are annoying today:
    - I couldn't fit into my "fat pants", pants I wouldn't even wear before pregnancy because they were too baggy.
    - I feel like a slob
    - The antibiotics I am on make me feel dizzy so I am not at the gym right now
    - I had to pick up a shirt for a volunteer opportunity today and they were out of mediums. I was holding up the small, and the lady was like yea I don't recommend that. So I am stuck with a large shirt. ugh.
    - DH is sending me one word responses to my emails (yea I know, he is busy)
    - I told one person at work the sex of the baby Monday and now have people coming to me asking me to share my big news.
    - I still haven't felt Bella move.
    - I have little pains in my abdomen.
    - The dinner ideas I have for today suck.

So I'm going to throw some music on to try to pull myself out of this funk.

@Kacie209 sorry that has happened! If it makes you feel better I forgot to refer a case to a resource here last week and now it's too late so YOU ARE NOT ALONE :)

@em01092 doctors stink sometimes. They always make me feel silly for having concerns too. It's important to stay on them though! (Otherwise in my case I would still have a rampant UTI going on).

@sourlemon we are lazy sisters today girl. It's been a struggle #firstworldproblems

@Kate08Young at least you don't have to go to the gym? :) are they dangerous blocks? our next conference is in St. Paul in September and I insisted this time we do NOT stay in the hotel where we have to walk by a methadone clinic LOL. Stairs are a real struggle though - making it up the two stories after the gym is so hard!

@leksiL They aren't dangerous, and they have great sidewalks, crossing and everything.

BUT, I just had a cerclage put in Friday, and am on modified -modified bedrest. I had to get OB, MFM, and MFM's surgeon to clear me to go to this conference. I have a 3 page long list of  Cans and Cannots. We (surgeon and I) called the conference to make sure that those cans would be met, and they lied to us.

  • My TW is my director at work.  I am 17+4 and still have severe MS with dizziness and lightheadedness on top of the regular stuff, it's actually much worse than it was first tri, and I'm down 13.5 pounds and still not gaining.  I have missed time 7 days and have eaten through my sick leave, which I really need to be saving.  At the direction of my supervisor I got a letter from my doctor with some basic accommodations, mainly being able to work from a mobile location the first 2 hours of the day so I can lay down while working, 100% able to still do everything I need to do and is an option for most positions at my work place, just not mine.  So I submit the letter to HR and my director and they send it to corporate to be approved.  Pregnancy does not count for accommodations per the ADA unless it is high risk (I was always told I would be due to my infertility history and difficulty conceiving but my doctor hasn't been treating me that way) and they won't approve any support.  I get if that is the required procedure but there are other pregnant people here who submitted similar if not more restraining letters from the doctor and our director made those decisions locally, and always has in the past for pregnant coworkers.  There is clearly some kind of problem she has with me and there is nothing I can do about it.  So I will continue having to vomit several times a day, have trouble sitting at my desk, and getting dizzy when I walk across the office.  I have worked here a long time and never asked for any type of help and have always gone above and beyond so it is very frustrating.  Rant over :(
  • @leksiL they are changing my meal plan and delivering it to me on the 3rd floor, and I get to skip the first and last class of the day so I can take my time going up and down the stairs. I have check with my surgeon, he isn't happy, but says it shouldn't do any harm as long as I am super lazy about doing everything.

  • @leksiL @Toller02 She did put me on an iron supplement, which I figured she would do, since it seems to be the normal treatment for pica symptoms. I guess beyond that there really is nothing else for her to do, since it is poorly understood. No biggie. But I just didn't appreciate her making me feel like a freak lol. She's not a young doctor, I know she has heard this before.

  • @BenNSarah- Oh no! What a stressful freaking situation. No other country in the world is this unsupportive of prenatal and infant care. I'm so sorry. Hang in there... If I were you, I would try again with your doctor, explaining your needs for work. At this rate, how is this situation even liveable? It sounds like torture...

@kacie209 - I'm there with you. I completely spaced going to a meeting yesterday. Like a weasel I blamed it on an unexpected return of morning sickness. Oddly, karma got me. Today I have been in bed with MS again all day so far and had a throw up fest for the first time in 5 weeks! I mean, I guess I believe in karma but never in such a direct way!

  • And now I leave in 13 minutes and still update on what I needed done. Ugh! I'd be fine if I wasn't leaving early, but of course this ALWAYS happens, and usually before I'm on vacation or something so I stress myself out about it. Oh well, not much I can do.

  • DH and dog are TWs. They were fighting over the bed last night, my body pillow got kicked out of bed and I was miserable. DH complained he hadn't been able to sleep. That's cute, YOU'RE OFF TODAY!!!! I have to work and have a child in me that doesn't get the concept of SLEEP (very active at night, which I hear I was too).

  • @slartybartfast yikes... Take good care of yourself.  I've known only a few people who've had it but they had it BAD.  7-10 days of consistent vomiting/diarrhea .

7-10 days?! whoa! Norovirus usually is gone in 48 hours. I had it in November and it was gone within 24 but I'm wondering if it may take longer while pregnant...

  • DH and my 2 year old. DH thinks he can stay up as late as he wants at night and not bother helping in the morning. He works for himself so he rarely has to do anything before 10, noon really, so every freaking morning I'm the first one up. Then I either have to beat him over the head to get him to tell me when he has to leave so I know if i need to get all the kids ready and take them with me to my class. If he does have to work that means I do everything myself while he snoozes until 30 mins before he needs to leave and if he doesn't that means he's in bed until I get back. I'm so tired of it. He should get his ass up in the morning too. And my sweet daughter turned two and is now a monster. Why does this have to happen?

@slartybartfast I must be confusing it with something else.  These people were down for the count.  Either way, take care of yourself!

  • I have a second TW. It's me. I didn't realize that you needed exact change for the public bus. So the drive was super nice and covered my 1 fair as I only had a 10&20. I did wait to take his bus back and pay him back, but I clearly am sheltered that I didn't know that.

  • @em01092 my sister contemplated eating her own poo while pregnant. Don't worry about the sponges. :)

  • @em01092 I had a lady in my last BMB who actually would eat Strawberry something candle wax. Like could not stop herself from grabbing a handful every time she walked by the candle. As long as you told your OB, are trying to fix it, and are able to resist the urge I think you should be fine.

Still sucks that your OB isn't acting very professional about your concerns though.

  • @ajstevenson LOL ok that def makes me feel better.

@Kate08Young Yeah, at least the good thing is I don't want to actually EAT the sponge, just chew on it. And at least it's like a bath sponge I'd never used, not like the kitchen sink one or something LOL. I mentioned it to my grandma, who said it's really odd that my pica is manifesting that way because I did that in the bathtub as a baby/toddler! Weird. lol
