March 2017 Moms

Slight Panic

Hi Ladies,

I didn't properly introduce myself! I am Mommy to one almost 2 year old and got a BFP earlier this week EDD March 28! My Husband and I are super excited.

Today I had some darkish brown spotting, slightly concerning as I didn't spot at all with my daughter. Called the nurse she said just watch, if I start cramping or bleeding heavier call back. Ok great...my crazy self drove to the store to get some more pregnancy tests, thinking that would provide me reassurance. NOPE I have been drinking lots of water today (because the nurse said so) so what I suspect is my pee is super diluted and I am getting negative responses (one on a digital one on a cheap CVS brand regular).

So now I know I got a clear positive on Tuesday when I took the test with FMU and I am trying not to panic but I am. Joy. Will just have to wait and test again in the morning to give myself any reassurance I suppose and hope I don't have any more bleeding.

Anyone else being a crazy person this Friday?

Re: Slight Panic

  • I did the exact same thing a few weeks ago when my spotting started. Drank a TON of water and POAS. The line was so faint that I panicked. I've learned my lesson and only take the tests in the morning now. I bought a huge box of cheap sticks on Amazon and take them every few days because I am crazy and 10 days of spotting freaked me out.

  • Pregnancy in general makes me a crazy person - I overreact to essentially every potential issue, and even more so when I suddenly feel like I haven't felt a symptom in awhile. That's why we have Birth Month boards... so we can be crazy together.

You're probably right about your diluted pee effecting the pregnancy tests. I know you already know this (and it doesn't make you feel any better to have to wait) but I'm sure a test tomorrow morning will yield much better results. In the meantime, I will have my FX for you!!!
  • I understand. I should be due somewhere March 28-30 as well, no spotting but crazy cramping every day. I keep checking for spotting. It's anxiety provoking. : (

First of all, congrats and welcome!!  Totally normal that you are panicking right now!  If you go back through the symptoms threads for the past few weeks, it looks like spotting is the most common symptom, and totally normal.

Try holding it in for at least 4 or 5 hours or waiting until morning and re-testing, I know it's hard, but try to stay positive!

  • Thanks ladies, had some cramping and redder spotting so I just went in for a blood draw. I have to go back Monday morning of course for another before I know anything.

It's going to be a long weekend :(
  • I totally understand testing for reassurance and over analyzing the results! I've done the same thing. I think that's great you got a blood draw, waiting for beta numbers is SO hard but way more definitive than HPTs. Hope the weekend passes quickly for you with no more spotting and good news on Monday!

I've been bleeding on and off for the past week and a half, but everything has been checking out nicely! When I first started bleeding, they had me come in to do paired HCG levels 48 hours apart to make sure things were progressing in addition to an ultrasound to see if there was something there (or not) - that's how I found out we are having twins.

I'm glad you got seen - that really relieved a ton of anxiety for me!

EDIT - due to reading further down the thread...

  • I'm so sorry for your loss! I have to say that, personally, I really dislike the term chemical pregnancy, I feel like it can invalidate the loss. I'm glad you're doing ok, but just want to affirm for you that it's 100% okay to grieve this loss in whatever way you need to. Hoping for you that you have a healthy, full-term pregnancy soon!
