I've been technically "working" since she was three days old because I went right back to my contact job that I do from home. I've also been going in to work for my regular job starting the first week we were home. Mostly just for a couple of hours once a week to keep up on paperwork and emails. I go back in the evenings starting tomorrow and that will be the biggest adjustment while my husband tries to convince her that she should take a bottle. The longest I've been away from her in these 6 weeks is an hour to go to the dentist, so being away for multiple hours will be tough.
Started back this last week and leaving the little one at daycare was hard and then listening to everyone be surprised that I came back to work so soon at six weeks was even harder. Mom guilt is real and it doesn't need outside people to make it happen. I always knew I couldn't stay home full time with a baby, but part time sounds awesome. Really hard though knowing that I am also trying to build my career at the same time and go for a promotion.... Oh and plan on having another baby very soon. "Leaning in" kind of blows sometimes.
Don't know what really counts here, but like @June2016BabyW I went "back" the Tuesday after I had him. (Had him Thursday at 2 am, checked out of hospital Friday, back to work on Tuesday since Monday was a holiday.) I am lucky enough to work from home. With my first, I wasn't ready to go and didn't return back to work for 4 months (they kept calling and asking when I was coming back, and I kept delaying). This time is totally different. It's working out, although it's hard to balance everything when I can't solely focus on him or work and have to switch back and forth as his schedule allows. I certainly don't get to sleep when he sleeps! But I am glad that I am able to be with him for more than a few months and still maintain some income. I do feel for the women who return to the office full-time. I feel like that was VERY difficult for me and there were definitely some shitty, shitty early days where I just didn't want to leave him with someone else while I was away for 10+ hours with my commute. At the same time, it was easier to focus and be productive and feel like my old self again when I was in just work mode during the day rather than mom mode. Basically, no matter if you have another job or not, and whatever you might do, being a mom is hard a lot of the time and we should give ourselves credit for getting it done.

Is it sad to say that I'm glad I'm not the only one that is being mom shamed for going back to work right away? I'm actually glad to be back as staying at home all day was not helping my depression. I'm worried about pumping enough for my little guy. I will be away from him for 9 hours a day and get about 11-12 ounces and he'll drink it allllllll. I'm going to have to start pumping on the weekends to make sure I keep up with him.
Sweet baby came to work with me this afternoon so I could start calling clients and getting things scheduled again. She enjoyed the popason in my office a lot.
Anyone else having trouble keeping up pumping for your lo? I pump about 12 ounces but my boy takes about 16 while I'm at work. I've started pumping again on the weekends to make sure he has enough and I have a freezer stash but it's slowly dwindling. I pump for times a day while at work
I did already I drop him off at 715 get to work by 730, pump then I have to wait until 1130, 1, and 4 then nurse as soon as we get home. I can pump again at 230 but that's not very long after pumping at 1.
I'm going I can make it until October because then I get a week off and can pump and nurse to build my supply back up. Hopefully my body starts producing more at my pumping sessions, I've only been back to work for a week.
@Amawanderlust have you tried taking fenugreek? That really upped my pumping sessions. Maybe that will help you get more out of each pump? I read a lot about it and read 1500 mg three times a day and like I said it really upped my pumping sessions. I am one month away from going back as I chose to do the full 12 weeks and i feel like I will be back to this thread a lot when I go back!
I pulled out my works clothes for a job interview Thursday (moving to VA, but interviewing with a company that also operates in CA) and my pants fit! Wish me luck!

I used one of those belly wraps post partum, which seems to have helped. That and carrying/bouncing a 10+ lb baby the last couple weeks seems to have worked. We don't yet have a glider chair or baby swing because we're moving soon, so I've been doing a lot of walking around the house with her.

I have to return to work on the 11th, next Thursday. DH and I are making some hardcore decisions to allow me to SAH soon. I'm hoping I only have to work a maximum of 6 weeks. **Secretly hoping for 4** Wish us luck!

I think I recall you being worried about only getting a few days off before, @Love4Labs326. Sounds like you got a little more time than you had originally thought! Hope the financial stuff works out so you can arrange SAH.
@June2016BabyW YES! Thank you so much! Our GFM and family and friends were able to help us out tremendously and I have been able to spend 8 weeks at home with Lillyana! We couldn't be more blessed. We've also made some major adjustments and refi'd our house and changed our transportation so we are saving a ton now. I'm hoping I can SAH! Thank you for tagging me

Did anyone bring their LO to day care for a few "trial" days before they returned to work? I don't go back until after labor day, but we paid for August in case we wanted/needed to bring him to day care before that. I'm debating whether we should bring him maybe once a week beginning this week to start getting him adjusted.
