  • @ceclarlinetlo yeah I was a big miffed. £5 for 3 photos. That's the NHS for you!
  • @Lcartee2016 That is an adorable US picture. I've never seen one with a baby curled up like that. I don't know much about anterior placentas but pretty sure it just makes it tough when it comes to Doppler readings and even for feeling the baby move. Probably means a few extra US in your future :)

@LCartee2016 same thing happened to me at my OB appt. yesterday. I have an anterior placenta so we haven't been able to hear baby on the Doppler yet and it's starting to freak me out when it's time to listen! Lol I had a quick US in the room yesterday w/ the OB and OB resident looking for the heartbeat and I swear it felt like AGES but then the resident said "there it is! You have such a wiggly baby!" It's so nerve wracking. I'm sure as we get bigger it won't be as much of an issue. This is my 3rd pregnancy, 1st one w/ an anterior placenta so I'm new to it as well! I've heard you may not feel baby for a little longer than """normal""" just because the placenta is blocking the movements but who knows... :) what a sweet picture!

eta I'm 14 wks and this is my 5th US ! 2 extra because we couldn't hear the baby

  • Ahhh you ladies are making me so anxious for my scan next week! I'll be 15+1. For those who had one in the 14-15 wk range, any troubles finding out girl or boy?

It depends on how persistent your tech is -- according to one of the pregnancy apps I have, it said the genitals aren't fully developed until 16 weeks so everything can still be kind of stubby and ambiguous at 15 weeks sometimes, but if your tech is good, they'll be able to figure it out :) It doesn't hurt to ask, "What percentage sure are you?" if they are able to tell you.

I was at 16+4 at mine and the tech was like, "I'm PRETTY sure I can tell but the umbilical cord is getting in the way and sometimes that can look like boy or girl parts so...." she then proceeded to jab my abdomen with the ultrasound wand lightly for like 5 minutes straight trying to get him to move around so she could be absolutely sure she was seeing the right thing. It was getting to the point where I was starting to suggest, "Maybe I can get off the table and do some jumping jacks?" And of course if the baby won't uncross his or her legs... well...  it can certainly be tricky haha. I think odds are good they'll be able to tell you at 15 though, as long as the baby is willing to cooperate :)
  • @EISG918 thank you! It's my current favorite baby picture!
Oh it is SO nerce wracking, but I'm glad thats all it ended up being.
I think that was my 4th u/s so far. My ob is an actual  saint. <3

I just flipped through the whole thread and it's so cute to see the babies "grow" over time, from the early ultrasounds to the anatomy scans we are starting to get.  :) Makes me feel like it's going by so fast and they're not even my ultrasounds!

    Sorry. Double comment

This is our little one at 11 weeks. I am 15 weeks, now, it just took me forever to post this. I can't believe something is wriggling around inside of me like a raccoon in a pillowcase, and I don't feel a thing!
  • So I had the worst experience today getting my early ultrasound.  The ultrasound tech was rushed through it and basically snapped a picture at the end and said okay it's a girl? Does anyone else see girl parts anywhere? It was awesome to see the baby moving and bouncing around in there I just wish we knew for sure what we were having! The US tech said the top right is where her legs are wide open but I don't see anything!
  • @brennafrank I can make out the spine and leg but I can't figure out whether it is a boy or girl. They won't tell us so early here in the UK. We have to wait for 20 week scan before they attempt gender predictions.

@brennafrank Looks to me like baby has her back turned towards the screen you can see her spine in the bottom left side. I think one leg is bent up under her and the other is lifted into the air.  It's odd to me that she would base it on this angle but I definitely don't see any thing suggesting it could be a boy. I'm not trained though so take that with a grain of salt.

  • @brennafrank I'm sorry your US experience was crappy. To me, the little bump in between the legs makes it look more boy-ish vs girl...but again, I'm no expert in this. When is your anatomy scan?
