Periods while breastfeeding

HI ladies,
Just curious how long it took for your periods to regulate while still breastfeeding.  Or do they?  I had my first PP period 15 days ago and now it's back!  How long have you had your periods?  Are they now at regular intervals?

Re: Periods while breastfeeding

  • My story may not be helpful, but my periods have been an adventure since I gave birth.

At my 5 weeks post partum check up, I decided to get on the mini-pill. I decided to do so because being pregnant made me feel incredibly relaxed, so I figured my body did well with those hormones. As soon as I started the pill, my period came back. 3 months of having a period non-stop, I go back in to the doctor to find another option. They said if I want to keep taking birth control, my only option was implanon. (I guess breastfeeding feeding severely limits birth control options.) So in goes the implanon. 4 more months of constant period later, I get the implanon out. I've had about 6 weeks of no birth control, and I've only had 1 short period.

So that's what I've been up to....

If there is any justice in this universe, I've paid my dues and shouldn't have a period for the next 5 years.

@BrooklynBroussard  you poor thing!  Hear I am feeling bad about have 2 periods 2 weeks apart.  You do deserve a 5 year break!  I'm surprised your not anemic by now.
Also... nice to see you back!
I took the mini pill for a month after my 6 week check up.  Turns out I suck at taking pills at the same time  ( or remembering at all) with a newborn, and have been playing with fate ever since.  We are planning to start trying either august or September so there is a peice of me that is happy the beast has returned, now she just needs to even out.

Wow that's awesome! I mean, that you're trying again! We might start trying in about 6 months. Our little girl is just such a blessing that we can't wait to have another!
  • My story is not the same but similar to what  @BrooklynBroussard has dealt with. I started the mini pill at 3 weeks pp per doctors recommendations. For the most part I was on top of it thanks to an alarm on my cell phone. But I had a period about every other week. In march SO got a vasectomy and he finally had his second all clear at the end of June. I was due to start a new pack the day we got the call from the doctor so I have now stopped them. At first I had a two week long period, one week spotting the next a normal flow. I am now on my first "normal" period without pills since birth and the cramps in the beginning were terrible!
