  • @JournoGrl23 then we consider that only 1 day away! (Don't count today or the day of ;) ) I will just be praying for you!!! I hopefully it's something that isn't major. Until then try to relax. And know that if it is something with your heart that your feeling, you'll have answers soon.
  • @jacmkelley thank you! I still kind of hope maybe the pregnancy is causing it and it'll go away after I deliver. But we'll see. I already have a ton of questions written down for Friday!
  • @JournoGrl23 glad you advocated for yourself and your OB was understanding! At least you won't have to go through the whole weekend without any answers!

  • So I went to my cardio appointment. I'm still worried because he didn't really have an answer for why there's extra fluid around my heart but he said he didn't think it was anything to pursue as far as more testing or anything like that. He said some people are born with extra fluid and that's their normal or it could be from a virus like the common cold or it could just be some random thing that happened. He said things like this usually go away on their own. He wants me to come back in October to see if I'm feeling better (he said that probably is what's causing my chest pain and discomfort). If I'm not then they'll do another echo.

I was diagnosed with a disease called gastroparesis last year, which I've been told is caused by an autoimmune condition or disease, but there's so many out there it would be too hard to find out which one. I've read some of the diseases can cause extra fluid around your heart so I brought that up with the doctor. He said it's very likely that's what's causing it for me but couldn't say for sure unless we pursued it further.

So basically it's probably not the pregnancy causing it and I still don't really know anything! I'm going to try really hard not to think about it though and just concentrate on the fact I get to meet my baby very soon! I am a worrier though so this will be a challenge for me.
  • @JournoGrl23 I'm so sorry you're dealing with all of this! I know they mean well but when doctor gives you such vague answers, you can't help but worry and fill in your own blanks. Try and focus on that little one very soon!
  • @ashleybaker712 exactly! I don't like the vagueness. Almost makes me worry more because there's nothing I can do about it to make it not be a thing anymore.
  • @JournoGrl23 First I am so glad it isn't anything MAJOR at this moment. I would be tempted for a second opinion or further investigation, but I think if you are able to relax and not worry yourself sick you could look into it further after the baby is born. I wouldn't be satisfied with "you're fine for now, see you in October." Heart stuff is scary, I would totally feel like you're saying - worried. I would say thank God it isn't anything crazy horrible and urgent. Focus on sweet baby and once you've had the baby maybe call your PCP and see if they have another specialist you can talk to. Or maybe call the one you went to and say I want more answers.
  • @JournoGrl23 Sorry you ended up getting such vague information. At least it sounds like it won't affect the health of your baby and may resolve itself on its own.

  • @JournoGrl23 - Glad you got some answers.

  • @journogrl23 I wish I had something to say that would make you feel better.  In these situations, if they were super concerned, they would have you rushing around and getting more tests.  Knowing they are not worried, may help you have some piece of mind that it is something you can pick up after the baby is born.
