Hey everyone. Been a while since we've had a new symptoms thread. Anyone have questions/rants/Raves about 2nd tri symptoms?

Also...July is 66% over.  :# ok...64.5%

Re: Symptoms - end of July

  • I had symptoms of a UTI at my doc yesterday so they gave me meds. Symptoms progressed to that of a kidney infection so they asked me to come in...and admitted me overnight! I have to be monitored for no signs of preterm labor and generally feel awful...and oddly enough my hospital has glorious food and since I feel gross and threw up after eating earlier I don't want to eat anything.

End rant. Hopefully the meds make me better

  • @SmashJam I'm sooo sorry to hear that. I hope you get better and can go home soon.

I've felt crappy for the past 2 days. I'm wondering if maybe baby is having a growth spurt because I'm been nauseous and tired all over again. WTF.

  • @SmashJam Oh no! I hope you heal quickly and are able to get home soon, hospitals are no fun. :(

I had awful cramping yesterday, more like period pain than RLP. It felt like more of an all-over sensation and not limited to one side, but it was more deep in my pelvis than my stomach. It had me laid up in bed for most of the day after our AS and I took a very long nap. Heartburn and MS are still bad but I feel like they're getting better. My OB recommended Alka Seltzer chews for the heartburn since Tums doesn't help, I think I like the Alka Seltzer chews better.
  • @SmashJam Feel better soon! Those UTIs are no joke. At least your docs are on it. Hopefully you'll kick the infection's butt quickly!
  • @SmashJam sorry to hear that.  Feel better soon!

I don't know what's going on over here but these babies must be in a growth spurt. Lots of stretching and pulling.  I also noticed this week that my hands and feet are sweating for no good reason, so that's fun.

@SmashJam I'm sorry! I hope the meds work quickly and that you get out of there soon.

I've been trying to get off of my diclegis, but it apparently isn't time yet. I guess I'll go back to full doses tonight. It's not terrible, but bad enough that I want to plug up DD to my iPad and not do anything. Boo. Other than that, some RLP and minor baby flutters! <3

  • My acne has spread to my lower back, so that's fun. Also, I tried to go running today and it turned into a walk--I could feel my ute jiggling around, and it just wasn't comfortable. Also, I "run" so slow now that it's essentially the same speed as a walk, so why not just give up and walk, you know?

Other than that, doing pretty well over here. Sick of having to get up and pee in the middle of the night. It's weird, because I never really feel the urge to pee. I just wake up and know I won't be able to go back to sleep until I empty my bladder. And there's always something in there.

  • I'm at 20w 2d.  The past couple of days I have started to notice that when I walk it feels like there is a big sack of fluid in my lower abdomen, which you know, there is!  But it is really weird to feel!  Other symptoms are all very minor - dry eyes, a little more weepy than usual, back acne/rash, peeing a lot.  Feeling pretty good at this point!

    Thanks all!

    The bump ate my post!

But basically, they checked me and no signs of preterm labor or infection- I had forgotten how bad cervical checks are!

Now just meds for the kidney infection and food.

Sounds like a lot of us aren't feeling great! Here's to all of that turning around and feeling fabulous soon!
  • @PensiveCrayon I'm already running with a support belt. It helps stop cramps and that weird jiggly feeling.

I'm definitely having more ute pain than I was last week. Sometimes I'm not sure if it's from overdoing it or just rlp.

Lots of gas the past few days.

Carpel tunnel at night causing my hands to go number. Last night all the way up to my elbow.

And my back has been hurting. Again not sure if I'm overdoing it or its just gonna happen. It started about now my last pregnancy too.

    Headaches. Every darn day.

Hemangioma tumor on my lip. I didn't know blood tumors were a thing but this thing is awful. I have to keep a band aid on it 24/7 because if I accidentally bump it too hard or look at it wrong it will start bleeding uncontrollably. Waking up to a blood covered pillow is not fun. Apparently these tumors are super common in young kids and go away when kids are born with them but I know a couple other women got them when they were pregnant and they have to be surgically removed. I am counting down the days until I see the surgeon because this thing is the size of a fat peanut m&m.

    Edit because:
Also pure exhaustion. The second tri is when you're supposed to feel energized again. Wtf? I just want to not need a nap at 5 pm.
  • I've still been tired but it is day to day. More energy than before, though.  Same with some evening sickness, but usually only after I eat a meal... regardless the amount I eat. Heartburn.

My #1 issue... sciatic nerve pain. Maybe not 2nd tri related but annoying. Stretches and heat pads work some. Makes doing much of anything hard when it involves walking and moving around.

  • The last few days I've been feeling rather crummy. Not really sure why.

I'm still dealing with constant congestion. My skin is so dry. I'm also in the if I wake up and don't pee I'll never go back to sleep camp. And my energy comes and goes.

  • Headaches, going on 4 days now.
gas and heartburn. Maalox helps some. And the enzyme pills. Except I apparently can't eat pizza anymore. Everytime I try, I get sick about 3 hours later. No other food is a problem just pizza.
Pelvic subluxation. Time to see the chiropractor.

I have heard from many women that coming off Diclegis can cause rebound nausea times ten! Only saying so because I had a friend think she wouldn't ever come off but turned out she just needed the time to "recover" from said rebound. Either way I hope you find yourself feeling better soon!

Insomnia and exhaustion. I thought first tri exhaustion was over and now, I can't sleep at all so it's back. Constant heartburn and I also am in the constantly peeing camp (middle of the night or not). I'm assuming the baby is going through a growth spurt because the stretching and cramping feeling is intense tonight. Oh and when I get out of the bed in the morning my feet are sore? Only for like five minutes but it's odd.
  • I'm mostly feeling pretty good.
    •More easily tired/winded.
•Aches and random discomfort but the chiropractor seems to be helping with that.
•Just constant peeing. All the time peeing.
•Always "Wet" ...well, lol it's true!
    •Gas. Haaaaaay sexaaaaayyy.
    •Headaches (not daily thank goodness).

  • Waking up all the time with lower back pain. I got a snoogle and I love it, I feel supported when I go to sleep but I still keep waking up and feeling like I'm not getting a good nights sleep.

Definitely lots of stretching and growing going on.
  • I just went through a growth spurt the last few days that turned me into a mess. I'm coming out of that and just had a really good day. I was very moody and tired and uncomfortable. I just wanted to escape myself.

I'm feeling supremely depressed about not being able to exercise really due to a tendinitis issue that affects anything I try to just cardio-wise but I have a PT appt tomorrow and am hoping to emerge with a path forward.
    Otherwise:
    -the hunger
    -pee pee city
-feeling constantly in search of a hammock
-I can't lay on my back anymore - the icky feeling from the pressure on that blood vessel is here
    -Preg-somnia 3/4 of the time
    -Still can't cook
    -Dummy brains

Nothing too major which is nice.
-can't go back to sleep after getting up to use the bathroom at night
    -frequent peeing
-cramping. It's not strong but it happens in the middle and lowish..feels like period cramps. Not sure if it's stretching pains or if I'm not taking it easy enough? Going to take it easy for a bit. This is the stuff being a FTM is hard for.
-extra discharge..not daily, but when it's there, it's definetly there.

@kbduke I posted last week that the soles of my feet were sore upon waking.  For like 2 minutes then it's gone for the rest of the day.  Weird.

@PensiveCrayon I've had an uptick in CM since I hit second tri.

I have a few things going on:
    - I'm still really tired.  I was hoping I would have more energy, but unfortunately not.
    - Sciatic nerve pain.  I'm lucky and it only occurs when I lay flat on my back, so it's a good reminder to quit reading and get some sleep.
    - RLP is getting more frequent.  I also notice my pelvic/ab area is sore when I stand after sitting for long periods.  I just need to remember to get up more!

  • Cold sores and wicked foot cramps can suck it. I have also had nasty tooth sensitivity in front of three bottom teeth since bfp, and the dentist yesterday said it's because I have a few roots showing. Awesome. Exhaustion is a dirty whore too, but the nausea and food aversions are gone, thank Jesus, and I am able to function as a normal human being for the most part. Lots of movement now which is fun; we played a fun game of you poke me, I poke you back yesterday.

My stomach is itching like crazy here lately. Hydrocortisone cream nor benedryl work. Anyone know of anything that helps? I'm sure I look weird walking around constantly scratching my belly.
  • The lightheadedness and dizziness has begun full swing. Had a really bad dizzy spell in Walmart yesterday. The cashier was so sweet and concerned, and I told her it was because I was pregnant. She was 8 months along herself so she got it. I'm also hungry all the time, get up to pee at least 2x in the middle of the night and still get tired easily. Feeling movement and kicks. Acne is clearing up but my skin still feels so super oily. And whoa sciatica! I'm walking minding my own buisness and BAM, shooting pain down lower back. Have a consult with a chiro on Monday.

@Mamax2 is there a specific reason you think this is due to more than stretching skin?  I wouldn't think hydrocortisone or Benadryl would work unless there's an allergic reaction.  My skin itches when it stretches in pregnancy.

@Mamax2 lotion lotion lotion! My last prefinance I went and bought a roll on stick of vitamin E oil and lubed my belly up in the morning and at night and it really helped. Stretching skin is no fun :/
  • Mamax2Mamax2 member
Thanks ladies! I'm pretty certain it's just stretching, but I have thyroid disease that, for some reason, intensifies the itching at any given time. I have some moisturizing lotion that I'll try.
  • @Mamax2 I've been using calendula salve and oatmeal baths for itching. It's not a total solution but they do give some relief.
  • @Mamax2 I have an oil from Boppy that is for preventing stretchmarks and stuff and it's awesome. It seems to go deeper into the skin and I'm not nearly as itchy. Eucerin cream works well too. https://www.boppy.com/product/boppy-bloom-renewing-body-oil/

  • This doesn't really help any itching, which I have experience but very mild... but for almost a decade it seems, I have been using the Bliss Fat Girl Slim line of firming/toning lotions. It's no miracle by any means, but I think has helped my skin look a little tighter than not using it over the years. I still use it every day and haven't had any stretch marks show up, so far. I know that could change, but I figure I am preventing them from using these lotions (the regular Fat Girl Slim, and the Ab one - the night one is pretty good too). They're a little pricey, but go along ways... I also wait until they're on sale, which Ulta seems to do every so often - same with the Bliss website.

  • This isn't a symptom yet but I suspect it will be tomorrow after my Dr appointment: grumpiness! Dr called late yesterday evening and said I have placenta previa and no sex no lifting more than 20 pounds and no running until I see him tomorrow for the full list of restrictions. I know it can resolve itself but until then I'll be prohibited from my usual workouts which will make me a grump.

Of course this call came in an hour after I finished a 4 mile run.....so every cramp had me panicking and checking for blood. :/
    DD1 5/23/14, DD2 12/5/16   Baby #3 on the way!

  • @sourlemon Oh no! I hate that for you, maybe at your appointment tomorrow you can ask him about lighter exercise options so you don't have to cut it out cold turkey?
  • It's definitely on my growing list of questions. He was like "this is urgent so I'm calling late instead of waiting for your appointment". Cuz that statement would never incite panic.... At least the baby is healthy though!

  • @sourlemon - I'm really sorry. That is not a fun hand to be dealt. I hope it resolves itself! My SIL has full previa and has had to be low key her whole pregnancy. Hey, maybe your knee will heal up!  :/
