It was so incredible to see! My heart is so full. Everything looks healthy. The ultrasound tech is my DH and I's friend so she secretly told us she thinks it's a girl but the angle, but we also go the harmony test so we shall see!! So in love!
So, today's appointment was supposed to only be a standard, normal, appointment. You know: Doppler, urine sample, etc. Well, the nurse couldn't find Bean's heartbeat on the Doppler, so my obgyn came in and also couldn't find the heartbeat.
I would like to pause right here and give a huge shoutout and major kudos to my obgyn and her office/nurses. They are all so good at keeping nervous mommy's calm and freak-out free.
Anyways, so DH and I get sent back to u/s and Bean pops right up on the screen, good steady heartbeat and everything. It was discovered that I have an anterior placenta (and if anyone out there does too, I'd to know more. I don't really know much about it other than it's mainly concerning positioning) and my baby likes to sleep on his or her tummy (very much like I sleep now) with their little tushy stuck up in the air (the way DH used to sleep as a kid). This makes it hard (impossible) for them to get a reading with a Doppler.
I'm so relieved everything turned out to be just fine, and I'm glad for a special, surprise u/s!
All that to say, here is the cutest picture (EVER!!) of our little thumbsucker!
I just can't get enough. I am so in love with this little life.<3
@Lcartee2016 That is an adorable US picture. I've never seen one with a baby curled up like that. I don't know much about anterior placentas but pretty sure it just makes it tough when it comes to Doppler readings and even for feeling the baby move. Probably means a few extra US in your future
From our first u/s yesterday - 12weeks 3days, measuring 1 day behind. Still kind of hard to associate that this is actually the baby growing inside me! The baby was very active, waving & with a strong heart beat
U/S tech is 80% sure it's a girl because it has a horizontal nub, what do you think?? NT scan went well and normal it was so cool seeing baby moving and bouncing around!!! Love!!
@LCartee2016 same thing happened to me at my OB appt. yesterday. I have an anterior placenta so we haven't been able to hear baby on the Doppler yet and it's starting to freak me out when it's time to listen! Lol I had a quick US in the room yesterday w/ the OB and OB resident looking for the heartbeat and I swear it felt like AGES but then the resident said "there it is! You have such a wiggly baby!" It's so nerve wracking. I'm sure as we get bigger it won't be as much of an issue. This is my 3rd pregnancy, 1st one w/ an anterior placenta so I'm new to it as well! I've heard you may not feel baby for a little longer than """normal""" just because the placenta is blocking the movements but who knows... what a sweet picture!
eta I'm 14 wks and this is my 5th US ! 2 extra because we couldn't hear the baby
We found out Team Blue for sure today! Our ultrasound tech wasn't as fun as the first one we got but we did briefly get to see him on 3D. He's gotten more adorable now that he has a little bit of fat on his bones and more defined facial features
Intentionally leaving out the revealing "potty shots" because it's totally clear by 16 weeks what's going on there when it's a boy
Ahhh you ladies are making me so anxious for my scan next week! I'll be 15+1. For those who had one in the 14-15 wk range, any troubles finding out girl or boy?

It depends on how persistent your tech is -- according to one of the pregnancy apps I have, it said the genitals aren't fully developed until 16 weeks so everything can still be kind of stubby and ambiguous at 15 weeks sometimes, but if your tech is good, they'll be able to figure it out It doesn't hurt to ask, "What percentage sure are you?" if they are able to tell you.
I was at 16+4 at mine and the tech was like, "I'm PRETTY sure I can tell but the umbilical cord is getting in the way and sometimes that can look like boy or girl parts so...." she then proceeded to jab my abdomen with the ultrasound wand lightly for like 5 minutes straight trying to get him to move around so she could be absolutely sure she was seeing the right thing. It was getting to the point where I was starting to suggest, "Maybe I can get off the table and do some jumping jacks?" And of course if the baby won't uncross his or her legs... well... it can certainly be tricky haha. I think odds are good they'll be able to tell you at 15 though, as long as the baby is willing to cooperate
@EISG918 thank you! It's my current favorite baby picture! Oh it is SO nerce wracking, but I'm glad thats all it ended up being. I think that was my 4th u/s so far. My ob is an actual saint.
I just flipped through the whole thread and it's so cute to see the babies "grow" over time, from the early ultrasounds to the anatomy scans we are starting to get. Makes me feel like it's going by so fast and they're not even my ultrasounds!
I posted it in the TTGP thread, but over the weekend I couldn't pick up Kitten's heartbeat with my at-home doppler. I called the on-call nurse and she told me to come in on Monday morning. They saw me right away, and tried to find the heartbeat with their doppler for about 15 minutes. They couldn't find anything, so they set me up with an ultrasound. It was such a relief to see the baby moving around just fine on the screen. I cried and cired and cried. The nurses and ultrasound tech were so kind. The heartbeat was 156, and I could see Kitten kicking me and waving. I was 16w3d in this ultrasound. I go back in 3 weeks to find out the sex.

This is our little one at 11 weeks. I am 15 weeks, now, it just took me forever to post this. I can't believe something is wriggling around inside of me like a raccoon in a pillowcase, and I don't feel a thing!
Cletus the fetus at 17 weeks. DH and I snuck my mom into the clinic for a quick peek. Little stinker was moving and shaking all over but would not uncross their legs.
We had our first 3d ultrasound to find out the gender, so cool!! The little guy is sucking his thumb every time we see him, it's crazy how much they look like actual little people now!
So I had the worst experience today getting my early ultrasound. The ultrasound tech was rushed through it and basically snapped a picture at the end and said okay it's a girl? Does anyone else see girl parts anywhere? It was awesome to see the baby moving and bouncing around in there I just wish we knew for sure what we were having! The US tech said the top right is where her legs are wide open but I don't see anything!
@brennafrank I can make out the spine and leg but I can't figure out whether it is a boy or girl. They won't tell us so early here in the UK. We have to wait for 20 week scan before they attempt gender predictions.

@brennafrank Looks to me like baby has her back turned towards the screen you can see her spine in the bottom left side. I think one leg is bent up under her and the other is lifted into the air. It's odd to me that she would base it on this angle but I definitely don't see any thing suggesting it could be a boy. I'm not trained though so take that with a grain of salt.
@brennafrank that sucks that the tech was so rushed! If it were me I'd wait until my 20 week scan before I took her word for it, just because it is still early and the way things look can change. But on the plus side, you got to see a happy baby in there regardless of whether or not it's a girl!
@brennafrank I'm sorry your US experience was crappy. To me, the little bump in between the legs makes it look more boy-ish vs girl...but again, I'm no expert in this. When is your anatomy scan?
18w6d! This little Peanut would not uncurl to finish the exam, so we'll be back in two weeks to try again. The baby was waving his/her arms all around and batting at the pressure from the ultrasound tech, but still refused to put those little legs down! She was able to tell the sex though so we'll be finding out tonight!
Anatomy scan today at 19w3d! Results are sealed and taped and we won't know til our party on Saturday! I am passing off the envelope to a friend at the end of the work day because I don't trust myself with it. Haha.

This was last week at our anatomy scan. I was exactly 19 weeks. Gave us a great view of gender too. Here is our little boy Elliot James! We are so excited to meet him.
