We will be telling our friends and family in person (or on the phone) in August, but we will unintentionally/intentionally announce on social media in October. We have gone back to the park where we had our wedding photos each year on or around our anniversary to recreate one photo. Last year we didn't get out there until December. So, this year I'll look a little different - maybe I'll stand profile to make it super obvious? Or just cradle my baby bump?
These are all so cute and fun! I am still chicken about announcing (12 weeks this Friday). I want to hear the heartbeat first and then I'll consider an announcement (this is our second).
Oh my gosh PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE weigh in on this debate for me!!! My husband and I have always joked about this idea for a pregnancy announcement but I never thought he was serious. Background, I'm white and DH is black. He wants to take a picture of three ice cream cones - a chocolate ice cream cone and a vanilla ice cream cone with a smaller swirl cone in the middle. kind of like this picture I found on Google.....
I'm just afraid that it is a bit... insensitive given the current racial tensions and might make people cringe a bit at best. At worst it could go viral with me being labeled the most racist mother in america...
@kaylea31 I think it's pretty cute, I mean the swirl is the best because you get both right? If you're worried about people you don't know seeing/judging maybe just make your Facebook private and viewable only by friends?
@Kaylea31 I think it's cute personally. But I do think your instinct is right that some people might react negatively. If you don't want any drama associated with your announcement, I might just send that to close friends and family and do something safer on FB.

I wouldn't worry about offending people on FB. I mean, these are your friends, right? My friends get my humor and would either laugh or roll their eyes.

That is super cute! I would make the cone smaller though like someone suggested. I say go for it!
@Kaylea31 I agree, it's cute. I mean sure there's a possibility it could offend someone but anyone can find something to be offended about and you can't please everyone.
I like the idea of making the swirl cone smaller. I think it would be cute if you did the picture of the vanilla + the picture of the chocolate = a picture of a small swirl cone
@Kaylea31 - I think it is really cute, and to chime in on other's opinion, the swirl would be perfect as a baby cone. So cute. People are offended by anything these days, and if your facebook friends are your friends, they will like your unique announcement and get a kick out of it!
I think the ice cream is adorable. These are all so awesome. My sister in law is due Oct, my sister Nov, and me in Feb. These are all first babies. We are all much older than our baby sister who is turning 21 in 2 weeks. We were thinking a cheers hand shot with 3 baby bottles and a beer bottle.
@thehappyphotog can I advise you to crop out the business name on the bottom of the photo. It would be very easy for someone to google it, find your first and last name and your city (since based on your username I assume your the photographer). There is a lot of stranger danger on the internet!
Love all of these!!! I feel like I'm in the minority, not having announced yet. I'm waiting until after my next appointment, a week from today...ill be nearly 12 weeks.
@LJane I don't think you're in the minority. We waited until I was 12 weeks to announce. I think alot of people are waiting until that point. Shoot, my sister is like 16 weeks and STILL hasn't announced!
