  •  How far along are you? EDD?  13 weeks , 1/23/17

How are you feeling? Feeling good, other than headaches. AHHH so sick of headaches!

R/R/Other:  not too much. If ya'll will remember, my first appointment is THIS THURSDAY!!!

Questions:  weird question: before pregnancy, I always got headaches during ovulation and even worse ones during my period. this past month, I have had headaches for the days that I most likely would have been ovulating and again yesterday and today, which would have been close to the start if not the start of a period if I wasn't pregnant. Anyone experience anything similar? Kinda freaks me out, as my #1 fear at this point *TW* is a mmc...but no cramping or spotting or anything.

GTKY - Hmmm I am a cookie dough girl all the way!

How are you feeling? Good, other than still being ridiculously tired all the time.

R/R/Other:  We had our genetics consult on Friday and opted to do Maternit21, so I'm anxious to get those results. Because we elected that, my NT scan that was scheduled just became a regular scan, but the tech still "unofficially" looked at the fluid behind the neck and said it looked normal. She didn't take measurements since it wasn't technically an NT scan, but she said she would have if she thought it looked off at all. The babies were measuring 12+2 and 12+3 with heart rates of 169 and 174. So far, so good. I'm still having some spotting here and there, but I guess it's fine as long as babies are fine.

Questions: Do those heart rates seem to be on the high side? The tech and doctor both said they were great, but of course I can't trust anyone, haha. At 7+5 they were 152 and 156 and I kind of expected them to go down the further along I get, not up.

GTKY - what is your favorite ice cream flavor? If you don't like or can't eat ice cream, what is a fave treat of yourS? Chocolate peanut butter! I might have to stop at the grocery store tonight because that sounds so good right now!

  • @kellybean1988 I almost said cookie dough until I remembered chocolate peanut butter. Cookie dough is definitely up there for me! As far as the headaches, I have been getting them pretty frequently, too. I haven't really tracked when they would line up with my normal cycle if I wasn't pregnant, so I can't really speak to that, but I bet it's just coincidence. I wouldn't think there would be a link if you aren't actually getting a period. I hope you have a great appointment on Thursday!

  • How far along are you? EDD?  16 weeks tomorrow, woo.

How are you feeling? Aside from the random RLP that pops up at really inconvenient times, not too bad. Getting back into a Crossfit routine has made significant improvements to energy levels, even though I can no longer do burpees or power cleans or deadlifts even :(

R/R/Other:  I'm just excited to find out the baby's sex this weekend. Not because I'm like super gungho about gender stereotypes or anything, but I just think it'll be cool to know something new about the baby that is personally relatable so we can stop referring to it as "it" and start focusing on picking a name for him/her. I feel sort of funny about it because OH has been telling me "I think it'd be nice if it were a girl. I'll be happy with anything but I just  really want to have another avenue of understanding how significant women's rights is and to be able to connect to that personally." I thought that was a really nice sentiment. We're going to be so happy with whatever it is though, I don't even care.

    Questions: I got nothing :)

GTKY - what is your favorite ice cream flavor? If you don't like or can't eat ice cream, what is a fave treat of yourS? I really like lemon meringue ice cream. I really like fro-yo more--whenever I get that, I like to mix "original tart" flavor with peanut butter or something like that. It's kind of weird but it's so good!
  • @cabu14 that's interesting. We went out to breakfast before and I had chocolate chip pancakes, haha. But that was probably a good three hours before my u/s.

@sldp123 169-174 is right around where mine was at 12 weeks! It slowed down a little the past couple of weeks and is now around 155.

Seems pretty normal :) -- they peak around 9-12 weeks before going down.

ETA: @kellybean1988 Good luck at your appt! I think headaches around this part of pregnancy are super normal and your hormone levels can still kind of go in flux with how your cycle was pre-pregnancy. Are you getting the doppler or ultrasound at your appointment? Hopefully hearing your LO will give you relief :)
  •  How far along are you? EDD?  13 + 5

How are you feeling? I came down with the same cold DD and DH have. So that's fun without NyQuil but other than that I'm feeling pretty good.

R/R/Other:  DH was supposed to go out of town for work this week but called in on account of his man flu. I don't especially love when he travels but because of his cold he's been getting up a million times a night (idkkkkk why) and it wakes me up then I have to get comfortable and try to fall back asleep and I was looking forward to sleeping in peace.

    Questions:

GTKY - what is your favorite ice cream flavor? If you don't like or can't eat ice cream, what is a fave treat of yours? I like ice cream but it's not my go to treat. I'd rather eat a good cookie, no kind in particular, just cookies.

How far along are you? EDD? 12+3

How are you feeling? Pretty good! Getting a little energy back.

R/R/Other: We had our 12 week appointment today and heard the LO's heartbeat for the first time! @sldp123
I'm 12+3 and LO's heartbeat was at 159. Doctor said that was totally normal.

Also! Excited because we're telling my Dad and my MIL today, and my Mom tomorrow. It was be great to share the news with them!

Questions: None that I can think of!

GTKY - what is your favorite ice cream flavor? If you don't like or can't eat ice cream, what is a fave treat of yours? I don't really discriminate. But my absolute favorite ever is Ben & Jerry's Coffee Coffee Buzz Buzz.

@canavara I've been keeping up with CrossFit ever since my BFP, although obviously I've scaled back quite a bit. I'm still doing burpees, but very, very slowly and I think I'll be done with that in another week or two. It definetely helps with the energy, and I want to stay as fit as I can. But I was really surprised with how fast it all hit me and how quickly I lost some of my skills. I'm sure a lot of it is due to reduced energy. But any workout is better than none!

  • @lecool I'm so jealous that you were able to keep going consistently! I took a 5-week break from it and when I came back, had to scale my WODs so much that it was just sad (nothing says "don't pick me for partner WODs" like taking 3 full minutes to do 20 wall balls). It's getting better though, but yeah, then the bump starts to get in the way on certain lifts and you know burpees are over the first time you hit the ground and it feels like a water balloon about to explode haha :) There were a few ladies at my box that continued doing everything normally up until 30-something weeks and I don't know how they managed!
  • Hey TTGP friends! Hope you're all doing well!

How far along are you? EDD?
      12+5, 1/25/17

How are you feeling? More like a human being. I have almost no nausea anymore, though my pelvic and tailbone pain hasn't gone away.

R/R/Other:  I'm making my appointment to find out the sex in a fancy smancy 4D ultrasound session (she says she's accurate from 14 weeks onward and I trust her because the birth center swears by her)! I had to leave a message though because they're always so busy. I'm hoping for a 14 or 15 week appointment (if they can't give you a clear answer due to position they'll reschedule a free follow up ultrasound).

Questions: DH and I want to do a cake reveal for my parents (plus anyone who wants free cake) when we find out. Do you guys think we should surprise ourselves too (by having the tech write it down and us giving the paper to the bakery without looking at it) or know before we surprise everyone else?

GTKY - what is your favorite ice cream flavor? If you don't like or can't eat ice cream, what is a fave treat of yourS? Good question! I love anything fruity, like coconut or mango or guava.

How are you feeling? Good! Smell induced nausea (mostly the smell of coffee ick!) but otherwise I can eat anything I want these days so that is freeing in and of itself!!

R/R/Other:  We had our 12 week appointment this morning! We heard the heartbeat at 150-155 and it just made me and the husband so happy! I am so ready for everybody to know!! I told the client I am working for right now today, she was pretty happy for me :) I will tell the rest of the staff tomorrow I think before I go on vacation.  I can't wait to announce it on Facebook in about a week while we are in the Adirondacks. I think we will be doing something like this:

Questions:  How does everyone get their water in-take.  I feel like I try so hard but don't drink nearly enough water!!

GTKY - what is your favorite ice cream flavor? If you don't like or can't eat ice cream, what is a fave treat of yourS?

Perry's White Lightning!! My favorite.. but very hard to find so my go to is Perry's Panda Paws!

Do you guys think we should surprise ourselves too (by having the tech write it down and us giving the paper to the bakery without looking at it) or know before we surprise everyone else?

You could always get the bakery to make a little mini-cake for you and your DH to surprise yourselves with before your parents -- that way you could have fun being surprised but also get an opportunity to absorb it before sharing with everyone else :) Andplusalso: it's more cake that you get to enjoy that way haha
  • @cabu14 to be completely honest I don't think I ever hit my water intake goals. I just take comfort in the fact that I'm not cramping or having Braxton Hicks and that water can come from more sources than just drinking water.
  • How far along are you? EDD?  14 weeks today/ 1.16.17

How are you feeling? I'm starting to feel more alive but the nausea has come back in the evenings. And I have a lot of stretching going on.

R/R/Other:  We announced on FB this weekend and received a lot of love from our family and friends. It's a pretty freeing feeling having it out there now.

Questions: Anybody else having an issue with food? Nothing sounds good and nothing tastes good, but I'm hungry all the time.

GTKY - what is your favorite ice cream flavor? If you don't like or can't eat ice cream, what is a fave treat of yours? Baskin Robbins Rocky Road.
  • @canavara I think that might be a good idea, thanks!

@cabu14 I never hit my water intake goals, but I know that fruits and veggies have a lot of water in them so I try to eat dark leafy greens and whole fruit. As long as I'm not chapped and dehydrated I think I'll be ok.

Guys I spoke too soon about feeling like a normal human again. Woke up at 1130pm hungry, made myself a taco, and two bites in I started heaving with some of the worst puking I've had in weeks. This wasn't just nausea, like I get about 90% of the time. I'm actually exhausted from puking. Send help.

@PaukMeKiande Ugh, sorry you're still feeling crappy :( About the sex reveal, I agree that it would be fun for you and your DH to be surprised seperately from your family because 1) You guys have have that moment together, just the two of you 2) You can enjoy all your family's reactions during their reveal, since you'll already be in on the secret 3) More cake. Mostly #3. ;)

@canavara I'm definetely not at the level I was at before, that's for sure. I was doing a lot of competitions and stuff last summer, but cooled down my training while TTC. A lot of my skills went away pretty quick. My pullups are pathetic right now. My goal is basically just to show up a few times a week and be as healthy as I can, and keep doing things for as long as I can. I'm pretty lucky to have a great trainer who has done CrossFit through two pregnancies, and we basically always have at least one pregnant person at my gym, so it's nice to get coached by someone who knows how to coach me.

How are you feeling?  Mostly great, though occasional queasiness still hits especially when I first wake up super thirsty and down half/full a glass of water at once, then I need to eat 3 crackers immediately. Still constipated, but feel less bloated overall. Tailbone/joints still hurt.

R/R/Other:  I need to have mid-workout tiny snacks or I start feeling shaky, so that's new. I usually do 30min cardio before strength training, but after 15 minutes I have to eat a few crackers or a piece of fruit, then continue. Talked to a personal trainer who is experienced with working with pregnant woman and she taught me a lot! Dreams are getting sexier and more real, which is great when the dreams are good, but I hate the realistic sad ones. Side note, we had our home inspection walk-through yesterday!! I'm excited and nervous to go forward. There's a lot of tiny things we need to do, and the ceiling was questionable at a few spots, there's a tiny bit of mold under the kitchen sink (inspector said bleach water will do the job just fine and wasn't concerned) and the house will need an exterminator before moving in (so many spiders!) BUT, otherwise it's a fabulous house in a fabulous neighborhood with many of the best schools in the twin cities area.

I went kayaking the over the weekend, which I thought would be great, except I didn't realize we would have to go through/over/under so many trees. I have a near-phobia of spiders, and there were SOOOO MANY. It was a 3 hour excursion, and most of it was spent on high alert and my adrenaline levels were likely high most of the time. I thought about the baby and wondered if it was ok, but there's been no adverse reactions, so I think it's ok.

Questions: Has anyone else NOT yet started looking for day care?? I know I want in-home daycare, and I know I should start looking soon, but I haven't yet.

GTKY - what is your favorite ice cream flavor? If you don't like or can't eat ice cream, what is a fave treat of yourS? Oh man...I'm obsessed with frozen yogurt, and  I like cookies N cream, cake batter, and pistachio. Also delicious...plain vanilla with sprinkled cinn. and brown sugar on top. Tastes like fried ice cream!

How are you feeling? Okay! Serious backaches, though.

R/R/Other:  Still got that pregnancy rage.

Questions: none today! I hope y'all are all doing well!!

GTKY - what is your favorite ice cream flavor? If you don't like or can't eat ice cream, what is a fave treat of yours? Reese's Cup from Baskin Robbins.  But I do not discriminate on desserts. I love them all.

  • Sorry I still can't respond y'all! I am still at this conference. The sessions that I presented on went really well, and my roommate last night asked if I would take over for her as the new chair of our professional development committee for our state org last night (!!!) and I said yes! Timing wise it will actually really work out with the baby.

Yall, I had to sleep on a bunk bed in a college dorm last night. On the top bunk. Wtf. I barely slept. Dying today!

@sldp123 oh my gawd I forgot about chocolate peanut butter! I think that might be a tie or very close second w cookie dough for me too. Sounds like we've got similar taste buds!

Glad to hear all my TTGP buds are still doing ok. A little less than 48 hours until my first appointment!

I have had no nausea whatsoever and have been told that that's no reason to worry by multiple people--one of which is a colleague whose wife is due in 3 weeks who is going to have a perfectly healthy baby who never had nausea. I know it's hard to ignore your friend, but her opinions are wrong  (sorry not sorry). Still suuuuper annoying though! Thinking of you!

  • OK you guys, I am starting to get terrified about my appointment tomorrow morning. I know I should be excited, but mostly I am just nervous that there won't be a heartbeat. Sigh. I went down a google rabbit hole which I never should have done but I am really nervous. I know that being nervous is not going to change the outcome but I also understand this is probably a normal emotion that everyone goes through before her first appointment!! Ahhhh. I wish I hadn't had to wait so long. That almost makes the nerves worse.

  • @kellybean1988 I think everyone probably feels that way before the first appointment. It's so hard when you don't have any confirmation that everything is really happening like it should. Just try to keep in mind that the odds are so much in your favor for everything to be just perfect. I know, easier said than done, especially once you go down the Google rabbit hole. I will have my fx for a great appointment for you tomorrow! Is your husband going with you?

  • @kellybean1988 I was so nervous before my first appointment (PGAL mind) and ended up not sleeping. The midwife came in and I immediately asked if he could just check and then get to know us/talk about pregnancy. It was really helpful. Like @sldp123 said, the odds are in your favor :) I've got my FX for tomorrow. And take a half of a unisom if you are up all night with worry! I take a half every night before my appointments now.
  • @kellybean1988 I feel that way before every appointment. Even when the baby is moving, right before I walk in I'm struck with this sheer terror that they won't find a heartbeat. I think it's just normal pregnancy neurosis
  • @mylitta I read your checkin yesterday while on mobile and meant to reply to it and completely forgot until now... I was expecting to get to the end of it and see that your friend had kids or something, but man, what a lot of opinions for someone to have for not having personal experience, yeesh. The whole "USs are risky" thing drives me nuts. I was reading something recently where someone tried to link it to autism and it was just like, howwwwww.  Hope you politely ignored her.
  • LecoolLecool member
@kellybean1988 I'm nervous every time. I have an ultrasound tomorrow for my 1st Tri screening, and even though I heard the baby's heartbeat at the doctor's on Monday, I'm still nervous. I think it's totally normal to be nervous, especially for your first one! Good luck tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you!

  • @Mylitta WOW!!! I was waiting for the moment you told us how to got angry and said something back...then you left us hanging!! After all that, I would have definitely went off on her a little bit. Maybe you took it like a pro ;) Sorry your friend was like that!

@kellybean1988 I was SUPER nervous before my first US!!!! I was also at risk for multiples, so I was super nervous that not only could there not be a heartbeat, but there was a chance there were like 6 babies. I was so tense, then the first thing she did was point out the heartbeat and I instantly cried, I was so relieved.

@Lecool how exciting that you're telling your family!! After today's US I finally texted a few long distance or old friends to share the news before I share on social media next week. Let us know how it went sharing with your family!

@katesmama0706 I hope you feel better!!

Today I had my NT scan!!! She asked us if she could tell us her guess at the sex based on the "nub theory", and this LO's nub is more horizontal, so she gueses it's a girl!!!! She said she's 85% accurate..so we'll see. I would be happy with either, but this whole time my gut has said boy, so who knows ;) She's probably more right than me haha. I would love a girl, but I'm just shocked because it's not what I was expecting. I was so nervous when she was measuring the NT, then she said it's normal and baby looks great   A big sigh of relief there!
I can't believe how active the baby is!!!! It was the most incredible thing being able to see baby moving around and moving the arms and legs and bouncing. I wish I could go back all the time to see it.

Also, anyone else's gums hurt?? Flossing hurts for a long time now, and some parts of my gums just hurt for no reason. Ugh.

  • @sweetyjenj My gums have been bothering me since I got my BFP. I wasn't an awesome flosser but I've been keeping up with it which helps q but with the bleeding. My teeth are actually hurting more than my gums and a few teeth feel like they have exposed cavities- I think I'm going to have to see the dentist.
  • @kellybean1988 Thank you! I was terrified about the same thing before my appointment. I think it's completely normal and like @sldp123 said: chances are there's a healthy baby in there. Breathe and you'll get to hear your baby today!

@lecool @canavara @sweetyjenj I was trying to be polite, but I did correct her every time. I don't think it made much of a dent in her opinions. My other friends were politely saying things like 'that didn't sound right' and 'I'm sure mylitta has researched it.' She kept going. My mom told me later to try and keep in mind that she's coming from a place of love and concern for me... so I'm trying that. And my H mostly thinks I need to stop dwelling and get over it, as I'm still pissed and she's unfazed. I'm trying that too...but ugh.

@sweetyjenj My teeth have been fine this whole time. But I flossed minorly yesterday (something was stuck, so it was just that area) and wow! Bleeding and sore! I'll be honest, I'm not the greatest flosser. My teeth are very close together so it's hard to do, but they've never been this bad and I try to be regular. One tooth was also very sensitive. I may be going to the dentist soon myself.

@sweetyjenj Ha you have the same story as me but opposite sex! Ours guessed boy at the 12-week scan and I had been feeling girl up until then. Glad your LO's looking healthy!
  • @Mylitta @loveinak i went out and got flouride mouthwash, hopefully that helps. I'm better at flossing, mostly bc I have soft enamel and creates cavities easily, but I usually don't rinse. I'll probably do some oil pulling, too (google it, i use coconut oil and its great!) These gums are just swollen and painful in a few areas and I hate it!
