  • @Bibliobebe right?!?!

All I have to do is show him one Harry potter related costume and he will be excited about it.

I just text my friend this past weekend who had a baby and said we should totally have a Halloween party and dress up our infants! Glad I'm not the only one thinking about this

  • I was searching for costumes last month. Now that the Internet is a thing, you can get costumes year round!! I always look at TJ Maxx though, they usually have really cute ones. So freaking excited for fall.
  • I should add hubs and I are huge into Halloween costumes and used to love dressing up! Our daughter went as a strawberry the first year and I made her the purple Boo costume from Monsters Inc when she was one!
  • Thanks for this post. I wasn't even thinking about Halloween.

DS1 is obsessed with Elmo. Thinking about DS2 as Oscar the grouch and me as the trash can wearing the ergo. Not much fabric choice for trash can but I found some pleated skirts that might work.

  • DS1 loves Halloween and has already decided he wants to be Luke Skywalker this year.  I'm thinking it'd be cute to dress DS2 as Yoda.

  • @megan324 I do love hummus, but I don't think I'll be using it as a costume idea! :joy:

  • @Megan324 One baby as a tub of hummus and one as a piece of pita bread?  Like the milk and cookies/salt and pepper/ketchup and mustard/eggs and bacon costume combos people do?

Only I don't think hummus would make for a cute costume.  People would probably assume that baby was dressed as (odd-colored) poop.

  • For DDs first Halloween, we dressed her as a killer whale. Then, a day before the annual family Halloween party (after DH and I had debated for weeks about what to dress as), I suddenly realized we could so easily be Sea World trainers. Khaki pants, blue polos, lanyards and a couple whistles later we were set!

The next year, DD was Pebbles (she had the PERFECT hair for it), I was Wilma and DH was Fred. So stinkin' cute.

Last year, I procrastinated. DD ended up being a Packers cheerleader because she had gotten the dress and pom poms for her bday the month before. Let's just say it's a good thing she's cute...trick or treating as a Packer cheerleader in the heart of Bears country was somewhat unpopular, haha.

I never got into Halloween, but it's so exciting with kids! I have a Tigger outfit that I bought from Disney for DD1 for shits and giggles. She only wore it a couple of times, but I'm thinking I may use that for DD2 and make DD1 one of the other pooh characters. My other option is to do something with the baby carrier, because when we take DD1 trick or treating I will most likely be wearing DD2 so you won't see a costume. Hmmm...
  • Last year I bought a cabbage patch doll hat/wig off etsy and put my daughter in a consigned 80's style Easter dress complete with Peter Pan collar and she made a very adorable cabbage patch kid. I got a TON of compliments on it and it was super easy.

Just putting ideas out there. I loved it enough to save it for use with my next one.

  • Love this thread! I totally hadn't even thought about it yet but started googling enfant crochet Halloween costumes and there are some gems out there! I may be convinced to pull out my crochet hook and give it a try!

    I mean, look at these:

    Swoon!

@geminigirl16 that ninja turtles outfit! Love!
  • Honestly, I'm probably going to be a pooper and not dress baby up. It will (most likely) be cold here and I'll be babywearing, so no one will see him/her. I'll just focus on the older kids instead. :)

    Evelyn (3.24.10), Graham (5.30.13) & Miles (8.28.16)
  • Reese's Halloween costumes (there isn't a crafty or creative bone in my body so they were all just store bought costumes):

Pumpkin (I always wanted a baby pumpkin)

Cow because I got it for 5 bucks off a yard sale site (She was so stinking cute at her daycare Halloween parade, running back and forth between us and her teachers and mooing at everyone)

Bee (Last year was the first year she could tell me what she wanted to be. She wanted to be a goat. (What?) We compromised at bee.)

    Married 6/4/11
    Reese born 3/23/13
    Due 9/14/16

  • I didn't even think of dressing up the little one till I saw this thread. I saw this online and thought it would be adorable, my DH is a probation officer I showed it to him and he loved it

  • Super cute thread! I've been wanting to do an itty bitty Rosie the Riveter. Seems like I could put it together really easily and she would be comfy.
  • DD1 said she wants to be Rey from the new Star wars this year. If that sticks I'm getting a BB8 costume for baby from Etsy. Just a nice sleeper and matching hat done like the little droid. I hope she sticks with it but when we go shopping in october who knows

  • DD1 was born on 9/9 and there were basically no costumes I could buy in her size that didn't cost an arm and a leg. I was too tired from having a newborn to get crafty so she just one a my first Halloween onesie. I saved it though & plan to put DD2 in it this year.
  • I thought since there will be 4 of us doing the ninja turtles. Especially since I'm surrounded by boys. Guess i need to start thinking of cool stuff to wear with the boys.

When I was little my mom put us in TMNT pajamas and spray painted thrifted roasting pans and baking sheets to put on our backs as shells. We thought it was the coolest.

This was very Kimmy Schmidt of you. Because I'm totally picturing her saying that/dressing up like that as an adult.

I'm going to have two girls, but the four of us will be going as the TMNT one year (probably not this year). My husband has carried over his childhood love of them to adulthood. He already has DD1 watching the newest show with him.

  • Why are some costumes called "bunting" ?? Having a hard time finding size 0-3 months :(
