@yellowrose314 I identify as Christian so maybe I'm not as bothered by the posts but I definitely see where you're coming from. Last time the board discussed it we left it as a hey, if it makes you feel happy then post what you'd like but some aren't going to click nor read nor be happy about it. Everyone was on the same page and that was that.
I definitely think, "Jesus H Christ on a cracker. Write about it in your diary. Nobody gives a flying f*^k." Every week. Accompanied by a huge eye roll.
The actual UO is that we should have a faith based weekly thread, apparently, as it is consistently unpopular. Clearly the community wide-interest level is non-existent.
Another question I have about the baby friendly hospitals (which mine is, just went on tour last month)....they say they don't give bath for 6-12 hours. Does that mean that when our parents come in to hold their grand baby that she will have um, my fluids still on her??? Would they clean her up early if I asked you think? I think the immediate akin to skin sounds awesome but a little unsure about that long of a wait for a bath??
Google delayed first bath benefits.
The baby will not lie around for hours covered in blood and amniotic fluid and will be wiped off and you won't even know there hasn't been a bath yet. And if people have a problem with holding a baby that isn't "clean", maybe those people wait to hold baby.
@lacerx I feel the same way. I contribute here and there but I feel like there's a weird splitting of members. Group A that posts quite frequently and are very close, group B (us) that posts some and reads the boards frequently but don't want to post unnecessarily bc we don't feel like part of groupA but definitely don't want to be part of group C, the lurkers or the final group D, he dump and jumpers.
Group B-er here, and I agree! I don't post everyday or respond to everything because most of the time I have nothing to add that hasn't already been said, but definitely don't want to be seen as a C or D-er! I do read most of what is posted, though.
Plus, I have somewhat of an online social anxiety thing that creeps in. What if what I say something that doesn't come across like I want it to? What if I'm trying to be funny, but they don't think it's funny? What if they don't like me? I know it's ridiculous, but it is what it is I guess.
Same. Group B. I've been here since 1st trim, but I just dot have the time to post a lot or keep up with a lot of the threads. I tried to keep up with the randoms thread but gave up sometime in April.

Our hospital system has been "baby-fiendly" for so long, it's the norm around here....honestly, I like it. After I had my daughter (c-section), the thought of being away from her for any amount of time gave me anxiety. I made my husband go with her when she had to have a couple tests done...maybe because it's the only thing I know but I think it's perfect....that being said, I wasn't able to hold my daughter for almost 3 hours after birth which was awful...his time my doctor assures me that I will get to hod my baby right away...
And all this chocolate and nutella talk just reminded me!
The Cheesecake Factory's newest cheesecake - "Chocolate Hazelnut Crunch Cheesecake topped with hazelnut crunch and Nutella on a blonde brownie crust." Yuuuuummmmmm!!!!!
Aaand I'll just leave this here because I'm evil like that...
There is not a Cheescake Factory nearby anymore. Thanks a lot for plotting a craving that I cannot fulfill.
DH has a 15 and 20 year old. He is constantly telling me I'm being overprotective or citing how things were done with his kids, etc. I think that he is more involved this time and has a hard time remembering 15 and 20 years ago. Also, things have changed. We know more now. I don't go around dropping that I'm a nurse so listen to me. I'm fully aware that being a nurse and being a mom are two totally different things and sometimes knowing more medical facts just makes me a more neurotic mother.
@PSUBecky23 okay thanks that helps a lot! It's def not anything anyone else is worried about, I just was curious and not knowing what to expect .... Thinking about it now I'm not going to care about any of that, just want to hold and cuddle her.
Re: reese cups, i like them but dont love them. I hate breaking bad also. Weeds was good until season 2 or 3, then they just got really silly. I love DD coffee more than any other chain or brand. I love fresh cut flowers, not a waste of money, they look nice and lively.
As for lurking "low activity" etc, as a ftm i read a lot of what btdt moms have posted just to gain education on mothering/babies in general. Everyone is different and has different experiences so it may not happen that way to me but i love knowing what could happen just to feel some sort of preparedness. I dont post too much because i feel i dont have much to contribute since i have little experience.
This may be an UO but i also feel some people are too cliquey, it gives me a serious high school vibe that im not into. Mean Girls if you will but not that extreme. This is a very small percentage of individuals on this board because most people here are pretty funny, informative, etc. but i just dont participate if i feel thats going on. I dont care if people talk but if i dont agree, or think its snarky or rude im not gonna go there. Because dont we all get enough of that IRL, why do we need it here too when we are all here for the same thing, support and advice.
@Kimmy717 I totally disagree! I think this board is super welcoming and not cliquey at all.
I also didn't really think there were the tiers that other people have mentioned but I guess enough people feel there are, so maybe I'm just oblivious.
I know it's been said before when it first started... but getting really sick of seeing a certain faith based post pop up every week... I don't find it at all inclusive of other religions or faiths; you can't dedicate an entire post to a Christian-based God and then expect other religions to find their own interpretation, doesn't really work that way. Sorry, not sorry.
Agreed. I roll my eyes every time I see it. It feels like just another example of how religious people (and sorry, a lot of Christians in particular) can be so damn pushy.

All of this. My experience on my first BMB leaves me feeling this is a very friendly, inclusive group. S14 definitely had cliques and tiers and a LOT of snark and mean girl -ness. I actually do see snark from time to time here now (not so much in the beginning), but it's still pretty tame, over quickly, and never escalates to epic proportions.
