Drink ideas?

Obviously I drink tons of water during the day, but sometimes that just gets old. Does anyone have any other drink options that doesn't contain caffeine? I am used to having at least one diet coke a day (prior to getting pregnant) so switching to all water is getting harder.

  • My DH & I were caffeine junkies. I have migraines so it helped keep the pain tolerable. I try to not have caffeine, but will have a can of pop here and there when my head hurts. I'm super careful to stay under 200mg when I do. To help compensate, we've bought a variety of MIOs, Crystal Light, and Kool-aid. It helps.
  • I second flavored seltzer water.  It's nice because it feels a bit more than just plain boring water, but it is water!  Sometimes I'll pour it into a wine glass with frozen fruit and feel fancy.

  • I also infuse my water when I need a new flavor.

  • Dasani sparkling water has a bunch of flavors, the pineapple is delicious! I find that target has the biggest selection!
  • @ljoyw_27 - good to know.  I just found the Dansani cans of sparkling water and I really like the flavors I've tried so far.  In fact, right now I'm drinking a raspberry lemonade!

  • Ugh I wish I had this problem. This baby hates water which is all I drank prior to getting pregnant but every time I even have a sip u their it up. Flavored, unflavored, sparkling, flat, does not matter :(

  • How much caffeine is in a Keurig cup? I don't even know. I know I have two of those, two green teas, and pop every day.

I am cutting it back, to be fair, to decaf, once I'm out of K Cups. I think I've got like 20 left. Caffeine does nothing for me one way or the other. So, switching to decaf isn't a huge deal. I could cut out the green tea, too, but isn't that actually good for you or some shit?

  • @SPurp13 Actually some studies suggest that Green Tea inhibits your bodies ability to absorb folate which is obviously hugely important for LOs development, so it's not healthy to drink more then 8 ounces a day

My last pregnancy I was making decaf iced tea and every doctor or nurse I talked to all made sure I was not drinking green tea. They all said to steer clear of it. I've read the recommended caffeine intake is 200 mg a day. After doing some research, it appears each kcup has between 100-140 mg of caffeine.

  • Well, then no green tea. It sucks anyway.

^Same! It is soooo yummy! My favorite is peach pear. Also, I am still having a cup of half calf/ half decaf coffee a day, I was told it was fine.

  • I've been loving lemon water lately (and it's good for you which is a plus) but when that gets old I don't feel guilty indulging in a cup of decaf or even a small soda. Most things in smaller quantities are just fine from what I've read.
  • I am totally creating a zombie post here...but whatever..

Wanted to share that I just mixed mango seltzer with orange juice and it made an excellent mock-mimosa.  It tasted yummy and would be an excellent substitute during brunch.

  • I keep a few Crystal Light squeeze things in my desk at work when I'm tired of plain water. You get your water and flavor!
  • I bought some 100% juice POG - passion/orange/guave juice. Poured over ice with a hefty squeeze of lime and a little fizzy water - it's not a bad tropical drink substitute.
  • I'm drinking a lot of iced Watermelon Lime Zinger tea. Better alternative to Cokes!
