April 2016 Moms

Things I wish

This board is pretty quiet since we've all had our babies for awhile now but maybe some of you are still lurking like I am.

I am in love with being a mom, seriously. I am very happy. That being said there are still "Things I Wish" such as:

I wish I could sleep without a bra. Alas, with breastfeeding, sleeping without a bra (and pads too) would mean major leakage every where.

I wish I had more (any) mom friends. I have always had such a great group of friends but they don't have kids so there are some things that don't relate.

I wish the world wouldn't see my husband's fulfillment of his responsibilities as a parent as some kind of medal worthy thing. Thank god he doesn't see it that way but society sure does. A stranger today told me how amazing my husband was basically because he was holding our daughter. She said multiple times how lucky I was. Not a word about how lucky he was. Thankfully he is very appreciative of all I do and doesn't expect an award for being a dad.

Lastly, I wish we were all still bumping! I'm still up once a night around 3:30 am to feed baby girl and I miss the bump!

Re: Things I wish

  • I lurk/comment on other boards now that this one is a ghost town. I wish I could be a stay at home mom. I wish my dh made more money so I could stay home and we wouldnt have to change our lifestyle. I wish I lived somewhere where it didnt get so hot. Im stuck inside all the time because its just way too insanely hot and humid for LO to be outside. I wish the pregnancy weight would hurry up and go away already! Its coming off slowly, still have about 15 pounds to lose. Still wearing maternity clothes and I refuse to buy in between size clothes.

  • I still lurk. I wish I could just work part time. (I get to bored at home) I wish we were already packed and moved. This is taking way too long.
  • I wish that baby #4 would get into a routine soon so that things can be more consistent at home for my oldest with special needs. It shouldn't be that much longer.

Ditto to all of this. I did buy a $10 pair of jeans from Walmart and a few tops from Zulily though. I was tired of being angry/almost crying every time I tried to get dressed.
  • I wish LO would go to bed earlier so DH and I could watch TV shows....I mean, I love you kid, but when you're cranky I just want you to sleep!

You took the words right out of my mouth! I naively thought that my supply would be evening out and I would stop leaking but my bras are still stuffed with breast pads. I definitely wish I had more mom friends. I didn't realize how important adult company is for preserving one's sanity. I especially hate people who think a good dad is one who engages with their kids. That's just a dad to me.

And I too miss what the Bump once was.

  • I've been lurking a lot more recently and on FB. I second the bras! I wish my boobs would have such a painful let down. I wish I felt like my normal self. PPD and these hormones got me good. I wish I could of breastfed and did have to worry about pumping when I'm out. Wish I could work pt only but unfortunately I make the most and can't live off DHs pay. Wish I had time to shower, brush my teeth and hair without depending on my DH being home or just letting LO cry.
  • There are lots of new moms I know, but no kindred spirits.
    i wish I had a house
  • @Knottie9983816 I'm also terrified of what solids can bring to cloth diapering. I know I don't want to stand over a toilet and scrape so I bought a trial pack of different liners to see which ones work best.

  • I want my body back. And I wish I could go longer than 3 minutes without a bra on. I'm shopping for dresses to wear for multiple weddings and I wish I didn't have to worry about them being bra/nursing friendly.

I want to have sex and poop without wanting to cry. 14 weeks of this terrible pain has been more than enough.

That says, DD is lovely and amazing and we're having a ton of fun with her :)
  • I could've written most of this myself. I too wish I had my body back. It was so easy with my first 2. Now I'm holding onto 10 extra pounds and I feel squishy all over.

I wish I could breastfeed from the tap and not be attached to my pump every 3 hours.

I'm a SAHM and really wish I had other mom friends. My best mom friend lives over an hour away from me.

Most of all, I wish lo would nap for more than 15-30 minutes at a time!
  • My LO has napped for maybe 30 minutes each day for the last two days. I wish he'd nap longer. I can't get anything done. This sleep charts for baby's are so incredibly wrong.

Do you have a public library near you? I also SAH and didn't know any moms in the area. But I started going to library story times and have met a bunch of people. It's kind of like dating :) you have to be aggressive and exchange numbers and stuff!
  • I wish baby would stop the whining/fake crying crap she does.
I wish I could put the baby down without her flipping out.
I wish the preggo weight would go away, too - more so, I wish I had the energy and stamina to work out to lose the weight.
I wish DH would look at me like he used to. Or touch me or hug me like he used to.

  • Well at least I have experience cloth diapering a solids-eating baby, and it's not so bad.

I wish my boobs weren't so big. I used to think DD was big, but now that I'm a J, I have to order everything. I love BFing, but I wish I could hand the job to DH once a day or so. I wish this baby would take a bottle every once in a while.

I wish I could work PT. DH had been out of work for a year now and unemployment is ending soon. I turned down my teaching contract for next year because it won't pay the bills and DH is having a hard time finding work. As far as I'm concerned the baby must stay with one of us - I will not consider daycare. He stayed home with DS 9 years ago because he was out of work then too. I wish two people with masters degrees could find reasonable work!

I wish I had more mom friends. I'm so grateful for the very few I have. It's tricky when your kids are so far apart in age.
  • @runningwild @Cwyatt2571

How could I forget my biggest I wish! I'm so frustrated with LO's catnapping and have been to driven to obsession with watching the clock, reading all the nap advice and sussing out tired cues. Sometimes he'll do a 1.5-2 hour nap but it's not consistent and I'm usually stuck with lousy 40 minute naps and an effed up routine. Ugh.

Haha, looking for mom friends is kind of like aggressive dating. I went to a mums and bumps meeting and the conversations always followed the same trajectory: How old is LO? Is LO STTN? (Some random stuff about how bring a mom is both amazing and hard) Where do you live? We should definitely get together some time!

Our only public library is one town over so about 20 minutes away. I will have to try it out. Thanks

LO is 16 weeks and I've had them since I was five months pregnant. I'm in the middle of a whole30 and 30 day workout challenge, and they've just now started to finally go away.
  • It's good to know there is hope!!
  • @Knottie9983816 It's so hot and I've been stroller walking to catch Pokemon, my back is sooooo burned!

I've mostly been cruising parking lots
  • I wish we didn't just start teething! 3.5 months, come on! Most likely it won't even come in for another two months!

Mine started showing signs at 2.5 months... Wtf?! He's 13w now and I can see the teeth finally, instead of just having him gnawing my fingers angrily with no white in sight.

Mine has been chewing/drooling for weeks with no sign of actual teeth yet. 13.5 weeks now...it seems early, but just hurry up and come through already! Fussiness and drool are increasing, so maybe soon!
  • Anybody know how long until teething is completely over?
  • I wish DD1 would take a nap every day.

    I wish I could pee.

I wish I could work part time.

I wish space would open up at DD1’s daycare so that I wouldn't have to leave DD2 with MIL (she insists that she is up for it, but she just had a knee replacement and is having trouble getting around... I go back to work at the end of August, so hopefully she's in better shape by then).

    Twelve? Lol.
DD1 has had all the teeth she has now since she was 2ish, but she will get more molars at 6 and 12, not to mention adult teeth replacing baby teeth. It was pretty much perpetual cutting teeth from ~7mos - 2 years with her.

Yup, and every child is different. I just figured it out last night because I can feel the corners of the tooth.

omg, the hemmhorids. I finally got medication for mine. It literally feels like I am pooping razor blades and has for 12 weeks.

I got the meds too... They sorta worked. I at least don't feel it all day anymore, just went I go.

I had them lanced twice and that helped for about 24 hours. The high fiber diet made it worse.

Yeah, that's where I am. It hurts to crap, but at least I can sit the rest of the day. Small victories, I guess?

My 2 y/o still has yet to cut her 2 yr molars, but my oldest was done well before 2 yrs.

  • I wish either my husband could find a high paying teaching job (or any job) so we can afford our life! Or I wish I could get a raise, but union office means no raises.

i also wish I had a third parent. I don't know how people manage multiple children- one is hard enough!

Yes! Mine is 14 weeks and has been doing the exact same thing. My other two DDs didn't start with teething til about 5 months.
