Re: Bed Rest Mama's check-in 7/14
Hey everyone. Im going on my 5th week of full bed rest. I am 32 weeks 2 days. I get antenatal care at home 3 days a week which is just NST tests as well as ultra sounds once a week. I am meeting with the Perinatal Dr Monday that specializes in Preemie births who is going to run a bunch of different tests. I am being transferred to that hospital as they have a NICU and my delivering hospital does not. If I am lucky enough to make it to 36 weeks then I can deliver at my original hospital with my original OB. Fingers crossed but its not looking good.
QOTW: Our LO name is Cecily Ticana. Cecily I got from (don't laugh) The Shadowhunters Infernal Devices Series. Ticana is my great great Grandmothers name. Essentially its the Ukrainian version of Tania.
Name: Ashley
EDD: September 7, 2016
Type of BR: Full (Just allowed to shower, make small meals and attend appointments)
Since when: June 12, 2016
Reason: Pre-term labor (at just about 28 weeks), Shortened Cervix (2.1), Massive Degenerating Fibroid (11cm x10.8cm x10cm), Low Amniotic Fluid (3.5-4.9 depending on the pocket)
Also how often would you like a check-in? Weekly or bi-weekly? I know my situation changes with every appointment.
Keeping Busy - Well for me the hospital gave me 3 DVD's on preparing for a preemie baby plus a binder to study so that's been keeping me busy this week. Other then that Im on season 5 of White Collar on Netflix, halfway through re-reading the Harry Potter series for the hundredth time and napping out of shear boredom a few hours a day.
Have any of you been told you will most likely have a preemie baby?
I started on full bed rest, only allowed to get up for bathroom and quick showers. That was in mid-April and as of this week I'm mostly just on pelvic rest. Can't exercise, lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk, no sex/orgasm, essentially nothing strenuous at all. But I can walk! It's amazing how freedom to run an errand can feel so great. I've gone from full bed rest to modified to pelvic rest. I'll stay on pelvic the rest of the pregnancy and if all goes well should deliver vaginally at full term. My was due to a later term hematoma pulling from the placenta. I have no signs of pre-term labor, biggest risk was (still is) abruption or water breaking due to clot sitting near placenta. I'm seen by MFM every 4 weeks for scans and OB every 2 weeks between that and have been doing really well. I'm able to work from home so that plus playing with my toddler has kept me busy!

AshleyB09042015: DH and I were told to prepare for a preemie. During the week hospital stay we had a consult with the on-call neonatologist and toured the NICU. I was thrilled when we hit 28 wks. Next goal is 32 weeks, currently at 29 +4 wks.
QOTW: Isaac Khan, first name DH and I could agree on. Middle name Khan is a family name and probably how we will refer to the lo.
Looking forward to a growth ultrasound on Monday. Still waiting results from another 24hr urinalysis. Thrilled to have graduated to weekly appointments down from 2x weekly.
Reading, puzzles and naps is how i've passed the time. If my lab results continue to look good maybe able to telework.
