Naming help?!

Hey ladies! I'm semi new here and only posted a few times... But I really need opinion! My hubby and I just found out our 2nd child is a girl! Which will be cultural shock I'm sure since we already have boys! Ha! Anyway we are now playing the "name game" and I really want her middle name to be "Ally" (named after my dad who is Allen) but I can't come up with any FIRST names that flow/sound nice with it. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you in advance!!!

Would you be open to doing Ally as a first name? I'm having a hard time thinking cause I see Ally as a nick name vs a first or middle name. I will brainstorm though!

A friend of mine's middle name is Allen. It was her mother's maiden name. I normally don't like mens names for girls AT ALL but if you're going to do it, I think in the middle name spot you can get away with it.

Otherwise, I'd second PP's Allison suggestion or go with a first name that is at least 2 syllables. Suggesting:

Charlotte Ally
Summer Ally
Juliette Ally
Elizabeth Ally
Morgan Ally
Margaret Ally

I could jump on the Charlotte Ally or even Charlotte Allen... Boys names as a first name are kind of trending right now... With Blake lively and Mila Kunis both having girls with boys names, James and Wyatt.

I have a friend whose name is Nella, because its Allen spelled backwards (after her dad). Would you consider something like that too? Might give more name options for a first. Can you give us some ideas of names you like (whether they work with Ally or not), just so we have an idea of your style?

We have 3 names we love as firsts... Ariah, Sara, and Lilly..... Nella was creative and Mrs Mary K: your suggestions are perfect but my DH shot them all down

I would either use Allen (I do not care for masculine names on girls, but the middle is a good spot for honor names that would be awkward as a first) or a name like Alice or Alison that can use Ally as a diminutive. I think part of the reason "ally" is hard to pair with a name is because its a homonym for Alley, so it sounds like a street as opposed to a person.

Aria Allen (perhaps Ariadne Allen? In an case I'd drop the h. It adds nothing and complicates a lovely name)

You're going to think I'm making this up but my friend's name is Sara Allen C****. Honestly, if you don't mind having a masculine name as the middle I don't think it matters.

If you want something more feminine then I would go with Allison, Alaina, Alana or even Ellen or Lena.

Have you tried the website baby name genie? That's what I used when I was not sold on any of the names we could come up with. We finally found a name that we love just because it gave us names we wouldn't have considered otherwise.

**Lurker here!**

My best friend growing up was Harp.er Allen. This was before Harp.er became so popular but I always felt like it flows nicely. I second NOT using Ally as a mn. My H's middle name is Joe and he HATES it. He wouldn't even let me put it on our wedding invitations.
