Baby blues? I can't tell!

I have debated on calling my ob the last 2 days but I just donno. I'm not sure if what I'm going thru is the baby blues... it's been over 3 weeks I'm not depressed I'm just overwhelmed! My baby has had terrible gas issues that have led to colic. He screams all the time and we have been trying everything dr. Suggest. But it is just all so overwhelming between him, the house and other changes like how everything revolves around tending to him. Alot of days prob most I never get a chance to eat until hubby gets off work. I literally lose my shit every other day and just cry all the time bc I'm so frustrated and feel like I can't do this. I'm just so use to everything having order and im just not adjusting well to all of these changes.. maybe I have anxiety? Not sure. Is this worth a dr call?  Opinions please

Re: Baby blues? I can't tell!

  • Yes, call the doc. Also IDK if you've tried any of the Happiest Baby on the Block methods to calm your LO, but it's the only thing that's worked for my little screamer. It's not 100%, but it does help most times and the book was great (not that you have time to read right now, I know! ) at reassuring me we weren't doing anything wrong and the screaming is because poor baby's brain is still developing and gets overwhelmed/overstimulated and the only thing to calm them is to imitate the conditions they were familiar with in the womb to calm them. Good luck.

  • Yes, call! I didn't with my last baby, and I should have. I ended up dealing with pp anxiety for almost a year. It never hurts to get help, but ignoring it can sometimes make it worse. I hope you find the right things to help you get better

  • I agree, call your doc, just wanted to add that pp anxiety is actually more common than pp depression, but docs never ask about it! I had pp anxiety really bad this time, I'm on meds now and they've made all the difference.
  • I would call.  Baby blues normally goes away at 2 weeks PP.  However, considering the hard time you're having, I'm not surprised you are wanting this way.  I cry just when he doesn't latch well or has just an hour of fussing, I can't imagine what you are going through.  The dr can help you and if you can ask them for a contact to a new mother support group, I'd jump on it.  Sometimes hearing in person other moms with your issues really helps.  I love you ladies but I'm not gonna lie, while at my son's 1 month appt today, a women overheard me mention the probiotics they gave me and she told me about the reflux her son had and how they worked wonders.  We then just chatted, me, her and another mom there, and I felt so much better about the tummy issues my son has.
  • @ashleygray89 just wanted to say I'm sorry you're going through such a hard time. My brother and sil went through an awful time like this with their first child and after months of my poor sil on the verge of tears at any moment, a dr finally figured out that my nephew was allergic to milk (they were formula feeding). They switched to formula made with goat's milk and it solved the problem. I'm not saying this is your issue, but I really hope you can get help with your LO soon!
  • Doctor gave me Prozac.. any of you ladies tried that before, I haven't read to many good, reviews on it. But My ob and my primary doctor agreed on it
