Long shot, but has anyone tried any of the twin carriers?? I'm looking at the twingaroo or the twingo carrier. I did buy a Moby wrap for when they are tiny.
There really isn't back carry options for a newborn. A stretchy wrap, woven wrap, or a ring sling can all safely carry one. Once baby is big enough, a tula or ergo carrier both have back carry options.
Experienced wrappers can wrap a newborn on their backs with a woven wrap as it provides enough stability for their necks and airways. That being said you need ALOT of experience and even though I've wrapped two kiddos for as long as they would let me I still wouldn't. But it can be done, and ladies do do it. But it must be a woven wrap. Not a buckle carrier or anything stretchy.

I'm too paranoid to back-carry regardless of age. I want to SEE that A) My child is safe and sound in front of my eyes and My child isn't sticking stuff in my hair or pulling it out.
@kmvisioli We got the lillebaby complete all season on Amazon today for about $100! I'm so excited!! I had originally registered for a Tula but we have a lot of expensive stuff on the registry so decided to go ahead and buy this. I think I might even like it better than the Tula because it can be used right away with no inserts needed.
@kmvisioli, I'm a bit late for the deal! 100% claimed. Too bad, I would love a Lillebaby! @Blonde1817, i'm jealous! you'll have to let us know what you think when you get it!

I want to wear this baby more than I did my other 2 was wondering if anyone could recommend a way to wear in Canadian winter. A coat or something I can put over the baby?
ok I've decided to actually maybe give baby wearing a shot. I am quite plus size, what carriers are better for rounder people? it's hard to judge sizes bc most stores don't carry many options to try on.
@mrszoess... I definitely think you should. I never would have thought of it if my friend hadn't worn her son. Now I'm obsessed. Here's a site I found that seems to have some good info for you You can get a wrap which is good for when they're tiny as well as when they're older and they come in different fabric lengths. Also, my friend gave me a Tula, which is my carrier of choice once Ella is big enough. I'll try to remember to measure the length of the straps that go around the waist when we're back home. If I don't remember and you're curious still, remind me! I love structured carriers like that bc they're super user friendly but will try a stretchy wrap like the Moby or a ring sling when she's super tiny. Those would both have lots of options for you. https://plussizebirth.com/plus-size-babywearing-carriers/
thank you @bnsmith85 x394939393! I have a friend shaped similar to me but she is a baby wearing fanatic and spends more than a car payment on custom carriers so I can't even handle a convo with her. I was tying on the ktan at bbb but it was small. I liked the concept tho

There are actually Babywearing Jackets and sweaters you can buy!
oh my god @bnsmith85 I finally got to that site this morning and it is AMAZING. all types of chubby info! thank you again!!!! (and now I know I def want the ktan bc it is so easy to use)
Ohhh I've been eyeing the Sakura Bloom for a while!
I I think the difference for carriers would be that a soft structure carrier goes around your waist where a ring sling doesn't. But I feel like you'd be pretty close to healed once you start baby wearing.
@annabenanna I have all sorts of carriers, but I agree a ring sling is the nicest for the first 4 weeks. My moby wrap is a close second but not until after a few weeks at least. After that I wasn't too bad sore wise and used my Tula and normal wraps. A ring sling is a great investment in my experience cause they're great even for toddlers and I have gotten good use out of mine.

Thanks @Schell2013! What brand of ring sling did you get? Or what brand do you recommend?

I have a maya ring sling and a Lenny lamb ring sling. I find my Lenny more soft and floppy, but both are good ring slings! Neither will break the bank either which is nice!

@annabenanna I can't wait to see pictures of it when it arrives! Rings slings are cool and fluff mail is some of the most exciting mail you'll ever get! IMHO of a baby wearing addict anyways!

Maybe this has been asked before or is a dumb question?
How soon after birth can you start baby wearing? Asap?
Depends on your delivery. C section I couldn't use anything except my ring sling and was supposed to take it easy for 6 weeks obviously, so that by default alone caused me to not wear much. But if you have a regular birth you can right away, I've heard of people wearing their baby the same day they've had them. You just have to be extra careful to follow proper wrapping techniques (if using a wrap) to ensure they are able to breathe and you're not hurting their hips. But with buckle carriers also you will need to roll a few blankets up or use the infant insert to make sure they are high enough.

@Mintz1982 - I really like the lenny lamb jackets & hoodies for babywearing. I feel they are also reasonably priced.
@mrszoess - plus sized or not, I would recommend kinderpacks. They have great plus-sized straps with nice padding.
@OrangeEv - plus one to ^, plus kinderpack (I swear I don't work for them) is a SSC buckle carrier you can wear from newborn as long as they are heavy enough- I forget the weight but it's average newborn weight. Of course k'tan, moby, boba, ring sling, etc are also good options for new squishes.
ETA: KP infant size is good from 8lb to 35lb, 22" and up. So a large-ish newborn.
I have an Infantino mei tei and a Hava ring sling. My LO is almost 6lbs, 19 in.
1. The hava sport ring sling was gifted to me. Is this a good type? 2. Should I wait on the mei tei until he gets a little bigger? I've watched many videos on how to adapt the carrier for an infant. But the box said 8lb minimum. 3. Why is it important to always have legs out? I know to cinch the middle so there is less width for LO to spread his legs, but he likes them tucked so close to his body that I can't see it working. I read the entire hip positioning page on the hip displasia website, but if baby's legs are tucked up at the correct angle, I don't really understand why they need to stick out.
I may have answered my own question that I need to wait with the mei tei, but I'm still seeking some advice! I'm excited to babywear and want to do it right! Thank you.
@OrangeEv- the ring sling is a better bet for squishy newborns, because as you notice, they like to tuck their little legs. Idk the brand, but as long as you've got it on correctly it should work fine! As far as the mei tei, it's always a good idea to follow the mfg's recommendations.
You are correct about hip dysplasia- also correct that newborns can have their legs tucked (like in the RS as well as moby, ktan etc) and be safe as well. The difference being that the infantino is more meant to have their legs spread.
@OrangeEv I love camo! Baby looks happy! I would try to tighten the rail across his back and shoulders so you can truly be hands free (I'm just guessing by you having your arm under the bum you might not feel babe is snug enough)

Re: The Official Babywearing Thread: ask your questions here!
it sounds like the twingo has had several recalls - something to keep in mind if considering buying used.
It's a boy!

Also @Blonde1817, the airflow is actually the one we want!
ETA: it's still listed as a deal.... but it's 100% claimed.

The BB Tai which I think I'm in love with.
And the Sakura Ring Sling.....
Anyone have personal experience with both? The lady at the store said, "well if you end up getting a C-section, you're gonna want the sling."
Any C-section moms care to comment?

@Schell2013 they're here!!!! Already so soft out of the box!
