I searched this birth month club and didn't see a convo on this, but is anyone getting one of these? Any BTDT moms that have thoughts yay/nay this brand vs that brand? Need advice!
I did wear one, and j would like to get a better one so I'll be following this. I wore it more because it made me feel like I had a little more ab strength when it was on since it held everything in.
I had the shrinxx brand last time for both tummy and hips and really liked it. I think it did make a difference in my hip size for sure and it really helped with tummy stability after my c section. I did not like the c-panty, which is sold by the same company. They were tight and the cut of the panty gave me a big muffin top- it wasn't a high enough rise or something. And I'm very short- only 5'2", so I'm sure it would be even worse for a taller girl.
For the FTMs, keep in mind that the hip wraps work well because your joints are loose during pregnancy and after birth to accommodate your growing baby and body. Wrapping them tightly after delivery just puts them back into the position they were before pregnancy, because they are already in motion. However, in my opinion, belly wraps wouldn't work the same way bc your belly is all soft tissue. So even though they are great for stability, especially for c section mamas, they don't help your belly really shrink like the hips do. I used both last time and will definitely do it again, but the two products do not serve the same purpose or generate the same results.
@NashBelle thanks for the tip on the Shrinxx wrap. I was going to use the c-panty and some sort of wrap to help keep a good amount of pressure in that area. I am looking it up now. Thanks again
I just purchased the Bellefit dual closure girdle. It's good for c section or natural birth. A lot of my mommy friends recommended it. It was pretty expensive cause I'm in Canada and had to pay $50 for shipping plus the exchange on top of it but my friends swear they are really good so I figured I'd give it a try.
I got one last time for a vaginal birth and put it on a couple days after my daughter was born. I found it extremely uncomfortable and because it was only for cosmetic purposes, I said forget it and didn't wear it again. My tummy and hips went back to normal after a few months and I'm so glad I could focus on my baby and healing vs. my tummy size. I think they could be great for someone who needs extra support because of a c-section etc., but if it's just for cosmetic reasons, learn from my mistake and let your body heal naturally.
I had a vaginal birth last time and found it to be unnecessary. But I'm staring down the barrel of a csection now and thinking it might make more sense this time. I'm not really interested for cosmetic purposes, I just don't want to feel like my guts are going to fall out.
Am I right in assuming they make more sense for csection mamas?
@KimmySchmidt yeah, I think they're supposed to be great for after c section. I liked mine after vaginal birth, and wore it because I felt like it made my abs stronger so I could get up off the couch. I don't know if it was all in my head or not, I didnt wear it for cosmetic reasons, I don't really think it would help that.
This is what my doula will be doing with me postpartum. She lived in Papua New Guinea for 10 years or so and said it is traditional Malaysian practice to help with healing and back pain postpartum.
