How long did you wait and what happened currently dpo 21

I am currently on luteal day 36, no period, no bfp, I have all the symptoms of pregnancy, but no bfp even after testing 3 times. I'm normally a regular 28day cycle. And my SO and I are excited and anxious to just have an answer. Now I know the basic is go see your dr, well that would be if I could actually get in to see any of the Drs at my dr office. Anyone have any ideas, advice, stories anything?

Hi, welcome! I don't want to discourage you from posting in the future; however, asking for help determining if you're pregnant is against TOU.

Anyway, are you sure you ovulated? I'm a little confused when you say you're on DPO 21 and luteal phase day 36. I'm relatively new to temping/charting (so someone correct me if I'm wrong) but my understanding is the luteal phase is DPO. It's the phase after your body has ovulated and there is a shift/increase in certain hormones. These particular hormone drop after so many days when your body realizes there was no implantation. Your luteal phase is unique to your body. It is the number of days that you average (usually give or take 1-2 days a cycle) after having confirmed ovulation through a temperature shift On average, how many days is that? Also, if you're on DPO 21 and no BFP then I would say there is definitely another reason you haven't had AF. Again, I would look back at my chart and see if I had a confirmed ovulation. Do you have a date for that with a crosshair on your chart?

Again, I could be wrong with some of my facts (and please correct me if I'm wrong). You could also try posting your chart in the TWW discussion and asking the ladies over there to take a look at it.

Other than that, the best person to answer this question is your doctor.

You probably just had a longer than usual cycle and ovulated later than you think. If you aren't turning texts, you're not pregnant. Keep testing until you get a positive or your period.

It's against the terms of use to ask us if you are pregnant. Also, the luteal phase is the phase that occurs after ovulation and would not last 36 days (it 'typically' lasts from 10-16). It would end in either pregnancy or menstruation long before then. If you mean cycle day 36 then I would say it's likely you ovulated late (or not yet at all) which is why your period has not shown up. Luteal phase length = DPO so you also can't be 21 DPO and on day 36 of your luteal phase at the same time. Especially since both of those are impossible considering what I explained above. If the HPTs are negative then you are not pregnant at this time.

Luteal days is days since the start of last period, dpo is days past ovulation, I ovulated on the 19th or 20th and was confirmed with opks. At least that's how my charting app describes luteal. And I thought this board would be what I was looking for as this would all be a part of trying to conceive, and I'm just asking about past experiences or thoughts.

OP you should do a little more research. The phase of your cycle post ovulation is called the luteal phase. The follicular phase is the phase between menstruation and ovulation. Unfortunately OPKs can be + without ovulation actually occurring (false surges are relatively common, it has happened to me in the past). The only true way to confirm ovulation is with an u/s, though temping is also usually very accurate.

This board is all about trying to conceive, but we don't have the power to determine if someone is pregnant over the Internet based on their story. And asking for our experiences about being pregnant is against the terms of use. It is also difficult because many of us have never been pregnant before and therefore don't have 'experiences' to share.

This is great advice! OP, there is so much information about TTC it can be overwhelming at first. When I first started visiting these boards, I didn't know anything about this subject and couldn't tell you the difference between luteal phase, follicular phase and I certainly was confused by the lingo. I suggest you read, Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It is a very comprehensive book regarding FAM (Fertility Awareness Method) and discusses many aspect of the female reproductive system, fertility, infertility and everything you need to know about getting pregnant.

It will help you to determine what's happening to your body during any given time in your cycle. Once you've read up, you can come and join us over in the daily threads "Waiting to Ovulate (WTO)" and "Two Week Wait (TWW)." These are great places to ask questions about your cycle and charts.

I second all pp. You may have ovulated late. For me as an example, my cycles are usually 34 days long. I was concerned as i had 5 different positive opks in a 3 week span. No temp shift. So cd 34 came and went. No bfp. My temp shift was just confirmed and i ovulated on Cd 40. It is normal to have a longer than usual cycle.

I don't know if you are still here, @nici84 , but when you say charting application-- do you mean that you take your Basal Body Temperature every morning and log it into an application like Ovia or Fertility friend? Or do you mean that you have an application that simply counts calendar days? They are not the same thing.

Another note about OPK-- They are great for timing sex beforehand (fade in patterns until +OPK) but they do not "confirm ovulation" . Charting your BBT does that. Either that or ultrasound from a medical professional. So, +OPK are a great thing, but that just means that you had an LH surge and it doesn't always mean you ovulated. So your number of days past ovulation (DPO) could be off if you don't have a combination of the charting situation (temperature shift indicates ovulation) plus the +OPK.

I'm currently almost 26 weeks pregnant with my third. I've never seen a +OPK in my life. So, I would really suggest downloading Fertility friend. They have really great tutorials and will teach you what to look for. OPK are great tools for timing but not so much for ovulation. I hope this helps you out. If you are 21 DPO (for real) you should have a positive HPT by now. That makes me question your ovulation date.

Also, to answer your question: Fertility Friend (FF) almost always has had me testing at 18DPO. I've waited until 16DPO before and my luteal phase was roughly 16 days usually. This pregnancy I tested really early (because I felt horrible and wanted to make sure I got pg-safe antibiotics for strep if I needed them) at 8DPO. I don't advise doing this on the regular as early testing can really bum you out if you have an emotional reaction to -HPT.

I'm not sure your post is out of line here as much as it seems like you are fishing for people to tell you that you are pregnant. We get a lot of that, so I'm sure you understand the frustration of having to repeat to others that our experiences are individual to us and really have no merit for you.

I hope you get the results you are looking for, but the best answer is simply to use an HPT at home. I wouldn't even bother the doctor without a positive home pregnancy test. Usually, if you are not going to pop on a regular first response early result, then you won't pop "pregnant" at the doctor's office. Even with a blood test. That was true during the 80's but these days HPT are incredibly sensitive.

This. However, if you go 60 days without your period OR a positive test, then you should call your doctor.

Pregnancy and period symptoms are very similar, so it is likely that you ovulated later than normal this cycle. Unfortunately, the only thing you can really do is keep testing and waiting.

If you are past your expected menstruation date and are having negative HPTs then u are most likely not pregnant. I would not suggest going to a doctor about it until a) you get a positive pregnancy test or b) go 60 days without your period
Eta: if you are truly 21 DPO and are having negative HTPs you are probably not pregnant

That’s not true though. Every woman, and every pregnancy is different. My mother had 15 pregnancies. All were different. My sister didn’t get her bfp, until she was 5 months, she didn’t think she was pregnant because she was still bleeding every month (what seems to be like a period) until she went in for a check up, and she was pregnant. Somebody else i know, kept getting bfn’s untile she was literally 3 months, even then she was still testing negative on the CB digital tests, after being confirmed that she was indeed pregnant. We are in no way, doctors or OB’s, so we shouldn’t be saying certain things. Because we don’t know for sure her situation or anyone’s situation. We can’t just say “oh you’re not pregnant, because you’re 21 dpo”
