I'm looking for something cute and pretty to wear for maternity photos! I'd love something white and body hugging but could go for any suggestions! Where are y'all finding your dresses?
There's a really pretty floral Jeasica Simpson dress at Destination Maternity that I think would be gorgeous in photos. It's not form fitting though, and I'm not sure how it fits, but it was very boho which is really popular now.
I found a lot of cute maternity maxi dresses from Thyme, got a few to choose from. Also my photographer just had her 3rd baby a few months ago, and we're the same size so she's going to bring me some outfits to choose from for our shoot
I tried on a few dresses at Motherhood Maternity and I didn't like the way they made me look. They just fell from the belly so I looked huge. The form fitting ones are the best, in my opinion. Even though that's not usually what I go for. Target had some nice causal form fitted dresses but they're not fancy...
I'm not doing photos but for my shower I found great options at Mom's the Word. They're available online as well. Everything is good quality and fits pretty damn well.
There are cute dresses on Etsy, but the time it takes to get them and the usual no return policy makes me super hesitant. Like this one: BEAUTIFUL, but eek!
I just recently bought a snug stretchy dress from herbergers. It's not maternity but the stretch makes it work. It's blue and white. But maybe if you find a white in this style it would work. I'm on the left. good luck!
Omg, the app is not posting all of my text!! @mhilpisch10, cute little basketball belly!
@rock1cherry, I agree, the flow ones make me feel giant. I still feel giant but feel like I might as well flaunt the curves and go all in... I bought a cute tight one at Target last week but it's short and want to cover my legs up for photos!
I just wanted to add to keep an open mind to non-maternity options! I got mine at a Charlotte Russe when I wasn't even looking for anything for the shoot. It was an empire waist with lace on top and a long flowy skirt and I loved it. My belly's huuuuuge and I was surprised that it actually fit. I got compliments on it all day when I did the shoot.
I ordered mine from Etsy. It was perfect for the shoot I had in mind. FillyBoo and Rachel Pally have some gorgeous ones (you can find them for less on Gilt.com).
I found a super cute and affordable dress for my baby shower also from Charlotte Russe. Will be wearing it with a statement necklace I found on Amazon.
@RN1stBae Yes, thank you. I was going for a romantic, boho-ish vibe. I took some photos with DH as well (and ditched the crown) but haven't received them all back from the photographer yet. I'm looking forward to seeing them, but mostly for the photographer to capture little one when she arrives.
I ordered my baby shower outfit on amazon ( I want matching dresses for me and DD). Also, my photographer rents some dresses for maternity pictures. If you decide to hire one, ask if they have it. With DD, maternity pictures DH and I were wearing jeans and a nice white shirt. This time I want all of us wearing dark blue.
I'm so excited, I know a photographer and she asked me to model for her to expand her maternity portfolio. I wasn't going to take pictures, I didn't take them with DD1 either because I don't feel like they are pictures I will put up in my house beyond pregnancy. But if they're free...heck yes! And a girl I work with said I can borrow this dress I posted below. (Pic from etsy) All the heart eyes. So over the top, I'm excited for the end of July to come!!
I'm excited too now that my dress showed up! Husband doesn't know I'm doing them, he'll be gone for the month so I'll surprise him with them. I figured why not, my children may want them one day, or grandchildren. I'm sentimental like that.
@MrsVoorhees - I stared at that picture for a solid minute before reading your post saying "She doesn't look anything like that in my mind.. haven't I seen MrsV on HDBD or something else? Even if it was faceless, I coulda sworn she had blonde hair" ... then I finally read your post. Duh.

Same here!! I was like, "Wow. That is not at all how I pictured her!"
So I had a date set up and concept for my maternity pictures, but unfortunately I became really uncomfortable with the weight I gained and my face has totally changed. I wanted to have some sort of pictures to share with family and friends outside of my bump check pics, so I had my husband take a couple of pics and this is what we got. *shrugs* better than nothing.
We finally got our photos back and I am totally smitten with the love she captured between DH and myself. Seriously can't wait for her to capture LO. Apologies for our blurred faces but I do work in cyber security and all that jazz...
@RN1stBae I bought Spanx, but found that I didn't really need it. I shed my undies for the shoot since I didn't want the lines to show. I changed into gym clothes after in the car.
This is one my brother took when I was pregnant with DS1. I love the silhouette rather than it being a full on face/belly shot. I didn't do one with DS2 and probably won't with this one either. I'd rather have newborn shots!
Go with something fitted, as the other ladies have said. It's much more flattering (generally speaking, of course). If you have to, wear spanx or some kind of maternity undergarment underneath to smooth everything out.

Time went by way too fast and I thought I ordered a beautiful dress from pink blush and I didn't so I had to wing it with a white dress I already had I think it looks alright for what we had to work with!
