DH and I got into a ridiculous fight over whether or not I'll spill the ice cream on the new carpet. Instead of calmly and rationally hearing me out (and the fact that I was just going to eat my near-dripping cone in the kitchen...) he whacked the ice cream cone outta my hand and it went EVERYWHERE in the kitchen.
I made him clean it up because he is a bitch. But man, that was an embarrassing moment for our household. Like I can't believe I married a man who lost his cool over the mere prospect of an ice cream cone spilling and decided "FUCK IT I'LL MAKE A BIGGER MESS!"
I suppose I don't really care too much about the "fight" but i was really pissed that I was out of an ice cream cone!!
(i want to note, that it was incredibly weird and out of place. He wouldn't have freaked out if, say, the dog had accidentally vomited on the carpet or anything, so I'm not concerned that he'll be a nutjob around our kid and their accidental messes).
@PoodleDoodleOoo it would have been on like Donkey Kong in this household! Just making him clean up the mess and leaving it at that shows how much more patience you have than me. I don't tolerate my 3 year old smacking things out of hands, snatching, throwing etc. So I wouldn't tolerate a grown damn man doing it. It's certainly not divorce material but he'd have slept in his car last night that's for sure.
@VeraMali - He was like a cute little puppy dog afterward though. Like .5 seconds after he did it he was "I regret that decision and I am so sorry. Wow, did I lose my cool." It was more comical than anything else, but maybe I have a weird sense of humor.
Still. We are pushing the 8 month pregnant mark in the middle of hot as hell July and he decides to lose it and knock an ice cream out of your hand? If it had been another crazy pregnant woman he might have lost that hand. Women in my family tend to be angry pregnant women though so I probably wouldn't be able to find the humor in it
@PoodleDoodleOoo - I'd be pissed about being out of an ice cream cone too! LoL. Seriously though, I'm sorry he over reacted. If it makes you feel any better, I get having an embarrassing household moment. In a moment of pure bitchiness when DH and I were first married, we were fighting while I was cooking dinner (about what, I have no clue) and I threw a piece of raw chicken at his chest. We can laugh about it now though at least.
Dude I got pissed last night because my husband took a bite—JUST ONE BITE—of my Klondike bar. There'd be blood if he made me drop an entire cone of ice cream LOL

Sticking with the ice cream theme here. I bought a container of half chocolate/half vanilla ice cream earlier this week because I wanted some vanilla ice cream for eating with strawberries, peaches, etc...but DH doesn't like vanilla, so I figured I'd get something we could both enjoy. I even TOLD him that I bought this specific type so that he could have some too and eat the chocolate.
Last night, when he scooped himself a bowl of chocolate ice cream, I seriously side-eyed him and held an internal grudge against him the rest of the night for eating ice cream that could have gone into MY tummy! I'm terrible.
After my appointment yesterday I went grocery shopping and may have went a little overboard to celebrate the fact that I've only gained 5 pounds so far. Some of the things I bought were a bag of mini donuts, brownies from the bakery, a box of pop tarts, toaster strudels and a pint of Ben and Jerry's. No fucks left to give, clearly.
Not ice cream related... I have been a total B to DH lately, he's just been annoying the heck out of me. We have house guests coming next Friday for almost a week and I'm 7 months pregnant, so simple things are a little tougher (as you all know)! To get ready for our guests he's been cleaning the garage! WTF? This isn't even the attached garage that our guests will see, it's an unattached garage that only DH goes in. I need help in the house, DH doesn't get that we have so much to do before they arrive, they are close friends and to be honest the house is ready for them to arrive but I want things like cleaning the bathroom/kitchen/den done, who cares about the garage!!! Thank heaven I did the nursery and clothing a few months ago because I truly think DH think this baby is going to stay in me forever
I do get this is his stress relief, going out there and doing God knows what, but come on! I have things that need to be done too.
ETA - rant over, but FFFC is I've been a b*tch for about a week now and can't stop
I vowed not to eat any extra sugars this week because I went a little overboard over the weekend. Not only did I just eat a Drumstick, but I made the mistake of taking that first bite over my keyboard and now there are nuts all over it.
I want a second baby shower. We don't need anything and I don't want gifts. I just want people to tell me I'm pretty and be excited for the baby and then we'll eat cake.

I threw ourselves a BabyQ last weekend for this exact reason. I wanted baby to be celebrated, but I wanted me to be celebrated too, damnit! It felt good. We emphasized no gifts, and got a handful of small things. Such a great time, and no complaints about the cupcakes (or the leftover ones either!)

I can second the random, irrational, embarrassing household moment. Early in our relationship, DH and I got in a fight while he was cooking dinner. This was before we really learned how the other communicated / handled confrontation. He tended to shut down and get quiet whenever I would get upset - the more upset I got, the more he ignored me, and so the cycle continued. So as I'm getting more and more and more agitated, he is focusing more and more and more on these damn tacos he's making. Couldn't stop for even a second to look me in the eye or say anything at all. So, I picked up the frying pan and threw those tacos right on the floor. (Not the pan - just the tacos.) Immediately, I realized how childish it was and of course started crying. DH, cool as a cucumber as he is, just cleaned them up and started making more. Looking back now, we definitely laugh at the whole ordeal. What a mess - literally and figuratively!
@AnnaS930 - Trust me, I still laugh when I see it in my mind's eye. Something about it hitting him and bouncing off of his chest and hitting the floor just makes me chuckle.
@JennM205 - That's amazing! I'll probably think of that whenever I make tacos now. Hahaha!

Was he shirtless at the time? For some reason I'm picturing your husband (no idea what he looks like, but I've made him up in my mind.. even though i think you've posted a pic when you announced team purple - so perhaps my brain captured that image??) shirtless with raw chicken being hurled at him. I'm a weirdo
My inlaws are in Europe and I am beyond thrilled not to have them calling/emailing/texting every day. It's such a nice vacation from them and I didn't even realize how stressed they make me until I don't have them breathing down my back every day. ::leaping for joy::
@mom2adoodle - my neighbors were away for the holiday weekend. I didn't realize how nice and quiet it was without them around. They're wonderful, but their 2 boys (9 and 11) are noisy and annoy my easily annoyed pregnant self. My neighbor even texted me last night "Are you ready for 2 boys? Mine are wrestling on your lawn!" ... yes, I know they're wrestling on my lawn, they're causing my dog to bark which distracted my toddler from dinner and now my husband is giving them the death stare from our dining room window! ha!

All I could think when I read this... edited: Because it took me 20 godamn minutes to figure out how to gif... I DID ITTTTTTT
@AnnaS930 Haha oh wow. I'm more annoyed that she is implying having two boys always leads to reckless chaos. As if girls can't be rambunctious and loud? One of our friend's came over and said "Wow, your house is so clean. Just wait until your boy comes out and ruins it all!." Seriously? Because he is a boy that's what's going to happen? And your two girls are clean saints who clean up their bread crumbs?
Sorry, I think I took your post on a negative spin lol. I think I'm hormonal.
@mom2adoodle - hey, go ahead and run with it! We do get a lot of comments of "He's all boy!" when Emmett plays in the dirt or climbs on furniture.. you know, doing things that are typical of most toddlers. Or hell, in my house, typical of my dog...
@AnnaS930 and @mom2adoodle This one kind of goes along with what you were talking about and I think has been mentioned before, but this is my 3rd baby. We have two boys already and we're Team Green. I hate when people assume that I want a girl, or that having a girl will bring "peace and balance" to our home.
News flash - if it is a girl, that doesn't mean we'll automatically have peace (and what does that mean, anyway? We'll have 3 kids under 5, I don't think there will ever be peace). It also doesn't mean that because we already have to boys I must WANT a girl. Actually, I'd almost prefer to have all boys. I'm already a "boy mom", I "know" boys and I'm comfortable raising boys. I would love to have a daughter too, but I certainly won't be disappointed if I don't.
With ya @Tippy05 - This is boy #2 for us, and I already got all kinds of comments last time around about how badly I must have wanted a girl, blah blah blah. No, I wanted children and I have somehow been lucky enough to be given the opportunity in this life to bring 1 (and soon another) wonderful babies into this world.
Do I have moments where I think "Man, I would have liked to get a girl ready for a dance.. do her hair, etc" .. things that are unlikely to happen with a boy? Oh sure, but it doesn't mean that I have lasting regret about the lack of a girl or resentment towards my boy(s) for being boys!
@AnnaS930@Tippy05 Yeah, I can only imagine the comments you ladies get with two boys. Ugh. I am sorry. People are so dumb sometimes. Like really dumb. I'm a FTM and people have already asked me when I think I'll try for my girl. WTF!??! I'm actually leaning more towards having two boys (I am one of two girls) but the assumptions really irk me.
*edited to clarify leaning towards wanting/preferring two boys. not like I can control this.
My MIL who when asked if we were going to have more while pregnant with the first would chime in with "Of course, Anna really wants a girl!" said to me this past weekend "This is it right?? You don't want more than 2!!" I told her we'd have no way of knowing that until we have this 2nd one. Her audacity to always assume what I want (and 99% of the time is wrong) just blows my mind. My parents would never speak for me, why my MIL thinks she can is beyond me.
@PoodleDoodleOoo lol I can understand the embarrassing household moment (and judging by the comments, so can PPs!). I've had a couple minor ones where I end up giggling over how stupid they are and the fight starts to fizzle.
A couple weeks ago, DH and I were cleaning and started arguing (not yelling or anything) about what to get done next. I was at the sink and all annoyed because he needed to do something in the living room and wasn't so when he walked in I just sprayed him down with the sink hose so he couldn't come in. He got mad for like a minute and we both laughed after (I started giggling right away although I did it because I was so mad).

McKenna must be all boy then, too. As she also loves playing in dirt and climbing furniture. She also makes the biggest messes with her toys, and loves to yell. As you said, typical toddler behavior.
People's gender stereotypes and assumptions that everyone can only be happy if they have one of each is annoying.
Ugh ladies I feel for you with the obnoxious comments about baby's sex! We are having one of each and while I am THRILLED to have a girl, I also had a brief moment of grief that DS won't have a brother (at least not super close to him in age). On the other hand, people now assume we are done because we have two and one of each. We might be, but like @AnnaS930 we haven't made the decision and won't know until we have #2 for a while and it CERTAINLY will not be because we have one of each. It would be because 2 kids would be the best fit for our family from a time management and financial perspective.
