I just wanted to put in a little not so terrifying word for those moms afraid of c-sections. The most terrible moment of pain from my c section was that very first step up out of bed the next day but after that first step I was pretty okay. I had very little bleeding because my doctor "cleaned me out" a little as she put it during surgery and where they cut through everything I was actually very numb at my incision. My scar is still completely numb 3 years later. I will say that I went into surgery with no hemorrhoids and got up the next day with some pretty painful ones that took some time to heal, apparently the pressures from them cutting in and getting baby out can cause a lucky few women to have issues with them the same as a vaginal birth. You still have to take it easy, you will have very little strength in your abdomen afterwards and probably will need help getting up, down, rolling over etc. for a week or more but it's not necessarily from pain it just from lack of strength. So just in case you do end up having to opt for a c section don't automatically assume you are in for anymore pain than you would have been with a vaginal birth. I had very little pain and can say truthfully that I was pain free before my 6 week appointment.
I'm on the same mom boat. She really wants to be involved and she has been guilt tripping me this whole pregnancy. I only have one sister and she has said that she does not want kids so I'm the only provider of grand children. She guilted me into inviting her to the anatomy scan and then guilted me into being in the room when the baby is born. I invited my sister to be the actual helper and will most likely kick my mom out to the waiting room once it is time to push. I told her that im not sure about the hospital policy but if they do not allow more than 2 people in he room she will have to go wait somewhere else. I'm considering asking the nurses to just say the limit is 2 just because my mom stresses me out. I also told her that I will let her know when I go into labor but she is not to come to my house. She can meet us at the hospital whenever we get there.
NBR but these mon stories reminded me, mine guilted me into going to my bachelorette party. She doesn't do that often, but I was pretty mad that she put me in the situation, I don't like to hurt people's feelings and I'm not very forward.
I did not want anyone else at the hospital other than DH. We didn't tell anyone when I got admitted. Reason being is it was at night and we come from a huge family (both parents separated) and didn't want there to be a circus in the waiting and delivery room. We will most likely do the same thing this time as it was so relaxing just having DH there. I didn't feel pressured to entertain anyone and felt like I could labor freely. We will be letting MIL know as she'll be coming to stay with DS.
Ladies-- it's all about the Depends. They were AMAZING pp. I found the giant hospital pads shifted a bunch, or my ice pack would come sliding out. The Depends kept everything in. And when I bled forEVER, it just soaked into the Depends and I'd toss the whole diaper.
I probably peed a little those first few days, too... So, win.
You can squirt the Dermoplast right into the crotch of the Depends, or put an ice diaper in, and there's no worry about leakage. Seriously, the Depends were a huge lifesaver.
I can honestly say I'm more fearful with a plan csection then I was with the first emergency one that didn't go how they should. Also don't think with a csection you won't bleed. I bled for 8 weeks. I agree get up and moving as soon as you can. I had my csection at 230 pm and wasn't able to get out of bed until 5 am the next day. I stopped the pain meds once I left the hospital but after the first week was moving around pretty well with pretty much no pain unless I over did something.
