@krzyrier I'm with you on the baby shower drama. Between my mom, step mom, MIL, BFF, and Fiancés aunt it has been a disaster. I now have to have two which I don't want. The first one is at 27 weeks and the second doesn't have a date. There has been one huge blow up already. I'm over the whole thing.

in terms of in laws I think I made out pretty well, my mil is so clueless and socially inept that she has no idea what to do and my mom (who is a party queen) just did the whole thing. mil lives 2 hours away and always brings her wet blanket boyfriend with her everywhere. he had the nerve to ask about "activities for the men" during the shower. so now poor dh has to entertain him again.
My baby's father's (my ex) friends are sending me friend requests on social media and sending me long messages through Facebook because I've unfriended him and blocked him, too. It's a long story but I know he thinks I'm sharing information on Facebook that I'm not telling him. Which is completely untrue. I haven't posted anything in months, let alone anything about the baby. He agrees that I don't need to be stressed right now and seems to want to back off some when I tell him he's my key stresser but then I go through a day like yesterday of texts from him (when I told him I would give him updates after appointments and I haven't had one yet this month) and messages from his friends that sound as if he has told his friends we'll be getting back together and singing his praises as a father (he doesn't have kids yet; I don't know if he'll be a good father any more than I know I'll be a good mom). So I spent my 4th of July putting my social media on lock down.

I feel you girls on the shower. No blow ups at all, but I just don't want for people to spend a lot of money throwing the shower and on theming and decor and stuff. My DH told his mom that I'm completely against theming which isn't the case but I just don't want her and my mom to be out hundreds of dollars to throw me a shower (the location itself is $200 to rent and then once you throw in food, invitations and decorations were probably looking at $700-1000). With my 1st son, I was away at school so I never had a shower just a small get together with family after he was born. I don't want to take the excitement of planning away from anyone, but I feel guilty for it costing so much for my mom and MIL because they are also buying a lot for baby at the same time. I know they wouldn't spend what they didn't have but I can't help but feel guilty.
My boss just told me I had to start looking for another job. I have a 3 year old and one on the way. I have 3 different doctor's appointments a month. My DH works but not enough right now to support everyone. And the worst part is my boss is my father. I quit my job to help at his company and now I have to Start looking again. I can't go back to where I was and for someone to hire me now when I'm about to take time off to have a baby in October would just be ridiculous. We are barely making it as it is and now I have this on top of it.
Wait whaaaaat! Your dad is essentially firing you while you're pregnant? Please tell me it's like the company literally does not have the money to pay you or something and not that your dad is just being a Grade-A horrible person.
@scostel2 the company does better in the winter. We make and sell parts for salt spreaders. So he is claiming he doesn't have money to pay me. But come November December he'll be calling me saying can you come help. But still the fact that he even thought about firing his pregnant daughter is horrible and stressing me out!
@bnsmith85 Thanks! We definitely are. I told my mom today that it's her own fault, she shouldn't have agreed to plan it with my MIL. Lol. I was teasing, but she's so irritated that she bit my head off. I don't blame her. I wish I could help more, but apparently my MIL is mad I even know about it. I guess it was supposed to be a surprise...

I ran into my friend (who just had a baby a little over a month ago) and her mother in Walmart this weekend. Her mother looked at my belly and said "Girl, you don't even look pregnant; you just look chubby."
@TurtleMomma I would be a liar if I tried to say I were familiar with the relocation politics and the SuperSonics/Thunder transition. I'm just bummed out about losing KD one way or the other.

I was completely caught off guard, so I just sort of nervously laughed to stall and then finally said "It's because I'm tall."
I totally should've ripped her a new one. I don't know what I was thinking. I was just so shocked she actually said that.
@AllyTheKid - I wish I were that quick witted! I couldn't think of anything to say! In the moment I wanted to break down and cry. Now I'm just pissed, so all I can do is think of snappy comebacks I should've used!

I'm lucky in the in laws department. My SIL is the fuck up in the family (had a kid in her early 20s which is fine, but she wasn't in any state to take care of her daughter so my MIL had to step in and take care of her, then her got pregnant again with her verbally abusive boyfriend that has a record and was being deported, so MIL had to step up again and help out). So my MIL is just happy that she doesn't have to take care of this baby and my mom is all "gimme your baby!!!" So she's more than happy to take over with everything baby related (shower, baby sitting, etc). My FIL (separated) is so quiet and introverted that I don't even talk to him unless it's through hubby.
Ok. My issue is that my scale seems to be telling me that I've gained about 5-7lbs within the past 2 weeks?! I mean, I DID buy and consume about $60 worth of fudge at the beach last week (not to mention all the pizza, chips, ice cream, salt water taffy, noodles, and basically all other forms of terrible food) but COME ON!!
@CopperBoom86 I figured I might get flamed for promoting retaliatory body-shaming and I know two wrongs don't make a right so I'll just leave it at...uh wtf? People seem to not realize how dumb they are to pregnant women. I used to think they just felt awkward and didn't know anything appropriate to say but uh, with that coming from someone who was recently pregnant then I dunno. And PS I'm pretty sure you were right and the TW Tuesday just didn't last, bc I def remember it happening
