Mad props to you, @PootsDragon. I would have murdered someone by now if I was still working. I know you're a few days ahead of me and I'm ready to evict this kid - I've got stuff to do - but we are most definitely not interested in induction unless medically necessary, either. Hang in there!
@PootsDragon happy birthday!!! Just punch the next person who says anything to you about baby.
@Backbypopulardemand how long will your parents be out of town? Hopefully she comes today!!!! Maybe if you schedule an induction date she will get the hint
@PootsDragon I have gotten "You're still here?" comments in recent weeks too. So, so hard not to go postal. In my dreams I'd say "And you are too -- management hasn't wised up yet?!"and then slap em hard on the back like an asshole trying to be a pal.
Hope most are treating you better for your birthday!!
Yesterday, just out and about, I got a yell-by (like a drive-by except yelled out while we were both walking) "When are you due?!" And when I said next week, she replied "I CAN TELL!" Well good on you, ya old bag!
ETA lurker here as I am not overdue yet... but totally expecting to be. Hugs to all of you!
I'm 41 today, set the induction for 41+6. It was either tomorrow or Monday... I'm still feeling ok, baby has LOTS of fluid left and did great on the non-stress test today, so I'm opting for Monday. I'm paying no attention to the possibly 9+lb baby... ahhh (there's a margin of error, so I'm opting to imagine he will be an 8+lb baby).
A little over three hours left on my due date. I'm going to go ahead and say he will be late as there have been zero labour signs so far. Thursday I will find out the official eviction date so I can go into labour the day before
@bettyru My doc estimated DD would be almost 9 lbs. by induction based on an u/s earlier that week. DH and I were both close to 9 pounds as newborns and I'm a taller woman with a bigger frame than either our moms so I didn't really bat an eye. Only ended up weighing 7 lb. 1 oz., so they can definitely be off! Good luck!
I have tried the midwives cocktail this morning and am in predictable early labor for the last 14 hours. Totally bearable so I am working on remaining relaxed and calm. 41+4 ... Come on baby!!

What's the midwives cocktail?! Share your labor secrets!
It's almond butter, castor oil, juice, and lemon verbena (essential oil) (I chugged mine quickly, I would suggest drinking it in smaller portions over 20-30 min) - I think you mentioned planning to try a castor oil induction.
there are different recipes online and some good blog posts about people's experiences.
i have also had 2 cervix sweeps. The 2nd one really started things up. I have a few mom friends who had multiple sweeps in recent births to help them into labor.
I am also taking a homeopathic remedy that is supposed to promote cervical thinning (it comes from a store like choices)
I don't want to be medically induced if at all avoidable.
I'm also now set for a Monday induction if nothing happens before. Certainly wish she would decide to come soon. I'm in a better head space today knowing there is nothing I can do and at this point they will miss seeing her at the hospital but it will be okay
The downside for me with induction is I would have to deliver my baby in a hospital and I'm planning to use a birth center. "Natural induction" or whatever you want to call castor oil + a foley bulb will still allow me to use the birth center, but they have to be done in the center by a midwife and are only offered at 42 weeks so gotta hold out for my shot at the birth I want. It's feeling like more and more of a gamble each day...

That is a bummer they make you wait until 42 weeks. Why do they wait that wrong?

Castor oil and foley bulb are more likely to work the further along you are. The sooner, the less successful. Also I think they only do 42 weeks because it's the medical requirement, the same way they aren't allowed to deliver before 37w. I bet they'd let women go to 43w if it weren't mandated. The mentality is very much "Your body knows what it's doing. Until there is serious danger, trust and honor your body above all else." I get it, I signed up for it, but I had no idea what I was getting into at the time...
@PootsDragon I also want to do med free but I'd be dying if I had to go to 42 weeks. Are you getting any membrane sweeps? If so when did your midwife start doing those? I know they don't always work but I'm just wondering if people are having them done and if so, when do they typically start?
@rnyland1 I know that in order to have a membrane sweep you have to be dilated at least to 1 cm I believe. So I think a lot of it depends on that. My doc said if I'm dilated he would sweep me at 39 weeks if I wanted.
@tennisbabymama I was almost at 3 cm last Thursday and I have my 38week appointment tomorrow so I'm assuming I will be at least 4. If doc is willing I will let her give it a shot....
Does anyone know negatives to membrane sweeping? I did the research with my first and was totally against it...now with my 3rd I can't remember why I was against it, lol. Now i'm thinking bring it on (ha!)
@mjmardel Sometimes the drugs don't work, but more so for FTMs with a cervix that is not really prepped at all. This increases the chance of a c-section if you were to have a failed induction because the doctor doesn't typically send you home to try again later at that point. Also, as pp said, a lot of women report much more intense contractions than typical labor. If that causes distress for you or baby (sometimes affecting HR or BP), you might again be at higher risk for c-section. I was induced with a low dose of Pitocin and had my water broken by the doctor and had a normal delivery, managing without an epidural, but sometimes that's not the case.
@rnyland1 I had a cervical check and membrane sweep Friday at exactly 40 weeks and 1cm dilated. It wasn't bad IMO and caused my mucus plug to come out as well as some bloody show, though now it's Wednesday (5 days later) and still no labor. I'm going to have another sweep this Friday. If that still doesn't work foley bulb and castor oil the following Friday.
@mjmardel with DD I knew my day of conception as well (fertility)... she still came 12 days late (we started induction 10 days late). The thing with induction is it can take some time, and I'd like to avoid that extra few days and process in the hospital this time. I'm hoping things will be easier if my body does its own thing.
And a full 41 weeks today. So, so ready. Yesterday I was thanking her nicely for letting me accomplish all the last minute things I've been doing, but that now her time has come!
I have an ultrasound test to check my fluids and a non-stress test for baby scheduled at the hospital today. Nervous, but also really excited to see my little girl (even if she's still on the inside and not on the outside).
Hoping things go well and she's still safe in there. Wish me luck!
OK... Second non stress test tomorrow before my induction on Monday (@41w6d)... I am now packing my hospital bag. I hope LO comes on his own this weekend or first thing Monday when we induce!
I'm doing fine... non stress test yesterday was fine. On one hand I feel like things may be progressing a bit, so worst case hopefully it will make my induction a bit smoother that things may be happening (although cervix was still a fortress yesterday morning... couldn't even attempt a membrane sweep). My mood/head is in a much better spot this time.
