I use to drink 4 cups a morning, but now, I only drink maybe a quarter of a cup during the week at work. I pour it, drink a bit then just don't like it. Since I don't drink cokes anyway, I'm apparently choosing to get my caffeine from chocolate milk nowadays.

About the random stuff thread, I'm down with that, but fb was SO much easier in my moms group with a random stuff thread because you can comment on the comment so it kept everything organized within the thread. Here, you may reply a while later, like I'm doing now, and no one will really see it unless they read every single post. Something thr bump could should easily change imho.
Also, morning sickness levels and viable pregnancy do not necessarily correlate. My doc told me that while she was miscarrying she was always puking up until that point and nauseous. This is my second baby and both pregnancies I've had very little nausea and only from 6 to 10 weeks like clock work. I now have a healthy 2 year old who is in the 95th percentile in height and born at 8lb6oz very healthy. My point being is every pregnancy is different, so I don't want anyone freaking out over lack of symptoms.
Last time I did everything by thr book. This time I eat all the lunch meat, hot dogs, and 12 oz of dark roast (which is actually less caff.) a day. I always find it funny that most people cut out lunch meat but don't cut out soft serve which has an equally or higher listeria rate. Same with veggies, more listeria has been contracted from vegetables than meats, especially cured meats!

:Raises hand: I cut out soft serve - my husband was very disappointed when I told him we couldn't go to the yogurt shop during my last pregnancy. He recovered when we found an ice cream shop that he likes better now.

Do you know the source of deadliest listeria outbreak in the last decade? Cantaloupe. Nobody has said anything about not eating cantaloupe... just interesting thing to consider.

YOU CAN PRY MY CANTALOUPE (and my frozen custard, let's be real) FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS!!

WHAT?! I can't eat 160 degree canteloupe!
just googled this and this was the quote from CNN about the infected canteloupe, "The 2011 listeriosis outbreak was the deadliest food outbreak in the United States in nearly 100 years, and the third-deadliest outbreak in U.S. history, according to health officials." Also, it looks like it stemmed from one farm's bad farming practices
What a post to read after eating some cantaloupe hahahah .
I live in England, but am spending loads of time in the US (where I'm from) so I've been checking out what both ends of the pond have to say on what to eat. The U.K. is a LOT more lax. Ie- says eat all the lunch meat you want and even says we disagree with countries who tell you not to. I'm mostly following their advice which is hopefully the right thing to do...
Coffee wise I was a COMPLETE addict pre pregnancy and started to try weaning myself off before we started trying. But it seems like just after I got pregnant my taste buds changed and I just don't enjoy coffee that much anymore. I've been averaging about half a cup a day and then have a Diet Coke in the afternoon if I'm feeling really sluggish at work (all within the UK guidelines).
Right now I only have a half cup a day usually..... that being said its because of MS. I my last pregnancy I usually had 2 cups a day, sometimes some tea, maybe a soda every now and then, but I also ate sushi and had a beer once a month or every other month. Flame me if you wish, but I say everything in moderation is no big deal.
I can't stand coffee during the first tri. With my first baby I avoided caffeine the entire pregnancy and was so excited to add it back in after I delivered. What I didn't consider was that as a BF momma that caffeine would impact my never been caffeinated baby for days. It was awful! It felt like she didn't sleep for a week straight after I had 1 cup.
With baby 2 I gradually added caffeine back in after first tri and he didn't seem to react to it after he was born (I still kept consumption to 1 cup per day). I'm sure some component of the difference was the difference in their personalities, but I feel positive the caffeine was a big deal.
My last OB said not to worry about it. As long as I had less than 200mg/day, including my chocolate and soda intake, that I'd be fine. I have a new OB this time and she said she'd prefer I stay away from all caffeine, but she isn't seriously concerned about 1 cup per day at the most.

What are the other differences in UK guidelines? I'm curious!
