1) what form of BC are you using or what options are you trying to decide between?
Just got the Implanon/Nexplanon at my 6 week appointment. It's basically the mini pill that you don't have to remember to take every day.
2) what did your doc say at your follow up appt? What are the benefits and risks that you considered/are considering?
I didn't like the side effects of the regular pill I was on before TTC--for half my life almost! I started the pill at 16 and didn't stop until 30. Didn't realize how much it effected my sex drive, dryness, and weight gain until I was off it. Don't like or trust condoms enough to rely on it. Also do NOT like the idea of an IUD at all, so doc suggested the implant.
3) what other forms of BC did you consider but are not going with? Why not?
Before birth we thought about NFP and condoms, thinking we may want a second pretty soon and wouldn't mind an oops. After birth and this newborn experience, we are definitely leaning towards "one and done" so we need something reliable. After a few years, hubby is willing to get snipped if we are sure we don't want more.
@Aquinna82. I know you had your Mirena placed yesterday too. Did you yours hurt like a mofo? Getting everything ready to insert it gave me flashbacks of getting stitched.
I have to go back in 3 weeks to have it placed bc of an insurance snafu. Apparently that shit costs $700 if insurance doesn't get the right paperwork prior to.
My dr said it hurts some people, but that this soon after pregnancy your uterus is accustomed to being occupied so it's the least painful time to place it. That being said I'm still not looking forward to it...

That sucks about your insurance. Why can't people do their job the first time? Well I hope yours goes better than mine did.
what form of BC are you using or what options are you trying to decide between? I went with the Nexaplanon
2) what did your doc say at your follow up appt? What are the benefits and risks that you considered/are considering? She just asked what I was thinking and that's what I wanted. She answered all my questions.
3) what other forms of BC did you consider but are not going with? Why not? I thought about the mini pill but I'm over taking pills. I also am pumping so I had to get a non estrogen form of birth control.
4) STMs - what was your experience with BC after your previous pregnancies? I'm FTM.
