  • @MelissaM090 I'm sorry about cycle 8.  :(
  • @Krys - I am loving the turn around in attitude!!! That is such an awesome way to look at it all. And it is great they are legit trying. It will make things way easier for you and hopefully make the time pass much quicker.

If there are two things I love in this world... it is Key Lime.. and Cheesecake... the two together?? Yas please. I do accept delivery.. and I tip generously.. jussssstttt sayin....

@leekat14 - UHG so sorry you are going through that at work! Those long shifts with no days off are for the birds TBH. And sucky co-workers make it worse. Hoping this month moves quick for you! Will you get a decent amount of time off once the month is over?

@krys glad you're starting to see things in a better light!  I hope you will enjoy and make the most of the rest of your trip! :)
@MelissaM090 So glad - if you have to be back hereat all - at least the timing works out better for you!  I know you have a busy time ahead... ((hugs))  you can do this

  • Question...
When do I stop RRL tea? Or do I stop?
  • @GrabberBlue2010 it's so insane that this is even legal.  I'll get two days off and then it will be 5 weeks of no days off and long hours.
  • @momtoleo - Happy Anniversaryyyy!!!!!

    @leekat14 - GET OUT!

This is terrible!!! Yeah I do not see how that is legal at all. If you do not mind me asking, what field of work are you in? I would be pissed!!! I surely hope they compensate in some way...

WAYDTGKU: day 8/10 of Provera, Metformin, PNV, sex, temping, MORE....coming soon!

R/R/CS:  I feel SOOO bloated! I hope this means that my period will come quickly after finishing the provera! I already warned my manager that I will probably have to take a day off next week for the doctor but I'm not sure which day yet. He won't be at work anyway so he definitely doesn't care haha

GTKY:  Buffalo chicken dip. My husband and his teammates will eat that until they're sick haha. It's 16 oz of cream cheese, 1 cup ranch, 3/4 cup Frank's buffalo sauce (beat all those together), add 3 finely chopped chicken breasts and 1/2 cup shedder cheddar cheese. Spread in glass pie dish. Bake covered for 10 mins. Spread 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar on top. Bake open for 10 mins. ENJOY!
  • @mrsdaddario Nobody has said anything about IUI, I'm just thinking ahead. It seems to work for a lot of people and Im curious as to how people and their doctors arrive at that prognosis and treatment. Where I stand now is that I'm having the HSG because I've had 3 unsuccessful medicated cycles, and DH's SA was clear.

IF the HSG is clear (I'm worried that it won't be but that's a whole other thing) and I have 3 more unsuccessful cycles (6 total) then I'll get sent to a fertility specialist. Then I guess the IUI conversation would come up if it was necessary. So I'm still a ways away from that and hoping of course it doesn't come to that. The nearest clinic is an hour away.

  • @MelissaM090 I see. Well I'm sure the HSG will be clear!! I've got my FX so hard for you! I know it's not for a bit, so try not to stress too much about it. (Yeah right mrsdaddario). With PCOS, (I think you're anovulatory as well) and all of our other tests being normal our only problem is lack of ovulation on our own. So the RE said it made sense for us to move straight to IUI. I was curious about that because I figured the Letrozole would "solve" the problem of anovulation, and if DH's sperm was okay, shouldn't it be fast enough to get to the unblocked tubes in time? But the RE knows more than I do lol. When he suggested go straight to IUI I didn't want to waste any time. 6 TI cycles does seems like a lot before being able to move on. However I know Letrozole doesn't have the "shelf life" that Clomid does. Our Re told us that if Let + IUI was going to work, it would work in the first 3-4 cycles, then after that the chances of it working dramatically dropped off. So I think on one hand it's good your doing the TI, because you're doing all you can first before moving on!
  • @Schumerator - Yay for camping!!! That would be so much fun!!! Yeah I am guessing temping would be out fo sho.
As for the not bringing/buying HPT while you are gone...

@mrsdaddario - Thanks! When I first got on here and couldnt figure out how to post them, someone told me that once I got the hang of it, I wouldn't be able to stop.... I think that is quite accurate. I sometimes wake up thinking about how I feel and what gifs would I be able to find to match it.. LOL.

R/R/CS: It's been over two years since I've used OPKs so I'm second guessing myself on the most effective ways to use them. What time of day is best? Previously I did FMU but I've read that afternoon and evening is good also. Also, are cups best for testing or can I go straight for the stick?

  • @belocin I read that the best way to use OPK's is that if you're going to do once a day, then around 2:00pm is best. Twice a day - 12:00pm and 8:00pm is best. It's been working for me. I don't know how your bladder is but if I don't drink a lot I can usually hold my SMU until after lunch (1:00-1:30) which is close enough.

@Schumerator Do it! You won't regret it.

@mrsdaddario I don't have PCOS to the best of my knowledge (can it be diagnosed with ultrasounds alone?) but on the ONE cycle my doctor decided to monitor my ovulation, I didn't. I went on letrozole immediately and it worked. I don't know if that was a one-off cycle but I'm not willing to try a cycle without the letrozole so I'll stay on it as long as it takes. My doctor does the follicle scans on CD10 and then a progesterone blood test on CD21. So we know it works. This is going to be your second IUI cycle right?

WAYDTGKU: Temping, CM, Sex, Losing Weight, Green Tea, Vitex

R/R/CS: This might get long. Sorry.
I tried to talk to my mom about having trouble TTC yesterday. She has known since the beginning we were TTC mainly because she guessed and I didn't feel like lying about it. She has said the whole time she didn't think I should be temping. So yesterday, after I've taken the courage to tell her all the things and explain the cycle in detail (she was kinda clueless, actually), she says: "Well, I know you are worried about it but it seems like you guys are trying to force it on some sort of time schedule. I really still believe if you could just relax it would happen naturally."  :# I was uncharacteristically calm when she said it and said that if there was something wrong I could relax for 4 years and nothing would happen and eventually you have to admit that. My dad was listening on speaker phone and agreed, so that made me feel a little better, but I still can't believe she said it.

On the other side of the coin, I had a really open conversation with DH last night about options and concerns and he shared that he thinks that the problem might be on his side because he has a family history of male infertility. I had no idea. He'd never mentioned it because he thought I knew because one of his uncle's adopted because they couldn't have kids and his grandparents apparently had trouble having kids as well but I had never really connected those dots. I was glad he shared it with me but I wish he would have shared it 6 months ago too. So yesterday was a really emotional day for me and now I'm feeling drained.

This Jalapeno Corn dip is wonderful! I've made it 4 or 5 times to take to different things and it is usually well received, unless people don't like spicy stuff. It's really very mild but some people won't eat anything with peppers.

Edited to remove Jalapeno Corn dip pic because it was ginormous. :(

  • @MelissaM090 So if your ovaries definitely showed poly cystic with ultrasound only, then likely you'd be diagnosed. But also, it's possible not to have cystic ovaries and still have PCOS. I think there needs to be 2/3 of the criteria met for them to properly diagnose it. My OB diagnosed me before they even gave me an ultrasound because of my mild hirsutism and also my super long/lack of cycles.  Also because I'm chubby (my words not hers LOL. Hers were "overweight"). It's possible you have a very mild form of PCOS. It's also possible you don't, and you just have anovulatory cycles. But I hear you. I will not try again without Letrozole to aid me! And yup, second IUI! Sorry I'm asking you so many questions! I just find it interesting!

WAYDTGKU: started temping again today after botching it last cycle.  Otherwise, continuing PNVs and checking CM, and sex when we feel like it.  Which won't be this week because DH has a Virus of Death currently.

R/R/CS: Hoping that once my period ends we can have sex at least twice a week until I confirm O.  We plan to move into "actual trying mode" in September probably, and making the leap directly from "once or twice a week" directly to "every other day" would be difficult.  So if we can do like 2-3 times a week until then, that would help smooth the transition.  We did EOD when TTC#1 and by the time I got pregnant we were both like THANK GOD I AM SO OVER HAVING SEX THIS OFTEN.  Ha. My cycles are long and I didn't ovulate until CD31 that month.  It was MADNESS.

GTKY: What's a recipe that's a crowdpleaser at your house, or what's a new one that you've tried recently and loved? Haha.  I work full time and have a one year old at home, recipes are not a thing right now.  I make decent pasta in the crock pot.  I actually make really good chicken noodle soup from scratch in the winter.  And I'm good with desserts.  But right now I will just make whatever is fast and easy.  I don't even think I remember how to actually cook.

@Schumerator -:smiley: I honestly feel you can do it. In all seriousness. I mean you'll be camping. You'll already be peeing on all the things to begin with (assuming it is camping without plumbing) so a couple days without a pee stick is a-okay. LOL. I have been trying to observe my CM. I started checking around CD 14, as on average (LOL) I O around CD 17-22. I had a lot of watery, with small patches of EW. That lasted about 8 days. Then it was creamy - but extremely wet creamy - new for me, for about 3 days. Then back to watery. The past 3 days it has been kind of dry and sticky, and now the watery is picking up again. After 3 different bouts of solid smileys on OPK's... I am not going there again. Maybe. Even putting in all that info, it still will not give me CH.

@jnalexander2 - Get ready cause I am coming to your house for dinner. I am now super hungry and all I want is everything you just said.

ETA - that food has me all distracted and I forgot to say what I wanted to say. That is pretty crappy of your family member. She totally needs to get a grip on life. It is not YOUR fault she did not have the money.
@Marley629 - Same here. Terrible cook. I just learned how to boil eggs. 347 dozens of eggs later.... and enough tears to boil them in...
@ahrains - Almost cycle buddies! Sorry for the wacky temps. But holy smokes batman what in the Hades is going on with your chart! I am not expert at all, but those CH's are questionable for sure. I am so sorry your going through this!

  • @mrsdaddario No no it's fine. The doctor doesn't seem concerned about PCOS for me but I know it crossed his mind. I asked about he ultrasound because that's the only test I've had and there wasn't anything concerning to him. The reason I started seeing him in the first place was because I was having extreme rectal pain along with my periods since coming off the pill. I was worried it was endometriosis but there doesn't seem to be any evidence of that either. But the pain (coincidentally?) has subsided since seeing him. The thing that worked out in my favour was that he's a great advocate for people to get pregnant and started monitoring my ovulation even though we'd only been trying for 4 months at that point. And I'm so grateful he did because that cycle was anovulatory.

  • @GrabberBlue2010 Thanks so much for CSing for me!  I'm a newbie to the whole temping thing and it has looked bizarro to me since the first week but I second-guess myself constantly.  My CD21 blood work showed very little, if any progesterone so I thought "Well, I *could* have O'd late..." but I think I need to trust the blood work since I sleep so erratically.

@MelissaM090 and @mrsdaddario I haven't read the whole convo from this but I wanted to jump in and say that I was diagnosed in high school with PCOS after an ultrasound, bloodwork, and not having a normal cycle. After 7ish years on birth control and then coming off, I notice that I have mild acne and veryyyyy mild hirsutism (basically just I noticed more hair when I came off my BCP), I still have high levels of androgens in my blood and the ultrasound shows "signs on PCOS" but I have no weight gain or trouble regulating my weight.... Basically, the RE told me that I have indications of PCOS and the symptoms could just be suppressed/more mild while I'm at a normal BMI but if I gained weight, he said it could change that.  However, the main symptom that I care about is present aka I'm not ovulating haha.
Overall! PCOS is confusing and almost seems to be used as a blanket diagnosis and it actually affects different people very differently depending on the severity and which symptoms that you show.
EDITED:  there is a difference btwn Effects and Affects
  • @MandyBeeSLP - So sorry the convo with your mom went the way it did. We always hope they will get it and not say stuff like that to make us feel worse. I am glad your dad was on your side though. Doesn't make the sting hurt any less. Are you going to try and get SA done on DH soon now? Or are you still going to have to wait until you hit the 1 year mark?? **HUGS**
